  1. ...plus I honestly believe the Mean Green 2021 football team wins the CUSA “COMEBACK PROGRAM OF THE YEAR!” (& methinks more of you feel the same way than not). GMG!

  2. A). They have never been to Apigee B). Attendance has no direct correlation to the quality of the stadium C). Parking is not a problem. Park at Fouts and take a fun walk over I-35 D). The photo in the article was taken September 8 2018. Not very current reporting. E). Who in the world is Moneywise and if they’re so wise about money, why hasn’t ANYONE heard of them.

  5. Quality of stadium has to do with attendance? 🤢 The ones who do these kind of polls you wonder about their bias or if they just clearly have a boner for North Texas. You wonder if they’ve ever been to tailgating & a Game Day at Apogee? (Doubt it). Seems most in CUSA & beyond think the Mean Green Village & all its venues are pretty A-OK. It is my understanding several from other FBS schools have toured the MG Village to get Ideas for their own future venues expansion. Really.... #31? ❇️🦅❇️

  6. I would dearly love to see 10,000 or more students at each home game and fill the rest with alumni.

  7. All three commits for 2022 have held at least one P5 offer. Definitely has become the norm here. Hope this is the first season of many where that’s the level of talent we are putting on the field.

  8. Looks like a copied and pasted section of an article from 2015 from a different website. I'm not sure that many people even read that company, so I'm not gonna give them any views.

  11. •••I give it 6.5 to 7 stars out of 10. It started out slow but ended fast. Weatherford’s Pythian Home off Bankhead Highway was featured as the FW Masonic School. Mineral Wells Baker Hotel was used in the shooting as was other recognizable venue in the North Texas area. ••• Martin Sheen did a more than commendable acting job as Doc. •••Luke Wilson was good as Coach Rusty Russell. •••Treat Williams played the part of FW’s Amon Carter. Comedian Ron White, Robert Duval & Matthew McConaughey’s brother were also in the movie. “Newman!” from Jerry Seinfeld played a villainous role. •••Featured in the credits were the original Orphans with bios on each. 3 of them attended 🦅 North Texas. ••• I saw Weatherford acquaintance Congressman Roger Williams in a bit part as a referee. (How ironic that Roger Williams Dodge dealership was right next door to the theater I saw “12 Mighty Orphans.” https://www.sonyclassics.com/film/12mightyorphans/

  12. I realize, that most of us know that Munoz and Ortiz are succesful on the PGA tour. However I tried to look up who else is currently out there trying to make a go of it. I Found quite a few from the last few years, but am sure I am missing more. Currently I count at least three alumni who have profiles on the PGA Latinoamerica tour, where Cazaubon is currently 27th on points, Gonzalo Rubio is 55th and Villasano also has a profile. For those who forgot, Cazaubon actually managed to qualify for the last Olympics. Doesn't look like he will be able to repeat this as too many Mexicans have gotten good recently and Ortiz appears to have one of the two spots locked up. Thomas Rosenmueller won the Pro golf tour in 2020 (Third European tier, based in Germany) by winning three tournaments. I think this will allow him to move up to the challenge tour (the second tier of European golf, roughly equivalent to the Korn Ferry tour). He made about 28K in the process. He is now 375th in the Official World golf ranking (OWGR) Kristof Ulnaers is apparently also playing on the Pro golf tour (where he finished 49th in the order of Merrit in 2020). Ian Snyman has also broken into the world golf rankings top 1000, by winning a tournament on the "big easy tour " (i think that is an African tour) earlier this year. Cory Churchman appears to be 2nd on this years NTPGA Players Tour Points List and has recently also played once on the Korn Ferry tour (I assume through Monday qualifying) Andrew Hudson was apparently playing on the PGA tour China in 2019, don't know what happened since. I am sure I missed a number.

  13. Need to regionalize, yesterday. It's the only saving grace and should've happened years ago. ALL "G5" Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico universities need to come together and give this region of college football a conference everyone can care about. So... Tulsa, Tulane, ULL, LaTech, A-State, NM, NM St., UH, SMU, TX State, Rice, UTSA, UTEP, UNT. Split it east and west, 7 teams in each with 2 cross over games a year and 4 non-con's.

  14. I think the reality for CUSA is that it’s just too far flung and the teams in it all want to move away to the AAC/MWC. Judy sucks as a commissioner, which is why we have games on Facebook, which looks so bush league. It’s just a bad league. But the CUSA West side is still the best we have ever had since the MVC days. If we had those 6 teams in a conference setup with Arky State, Louisiana, and Texas State, you’d have the perfect setup. Nine games, plus 3 OOC games every year. Your longest conference game trip would be UAB or UTEP. And that’s the best place we could ideally end up. We need the SBC and CUSA to realign badly.

  18. What a waste of time this article is. Apogee is awesome and looks like the Taj Mahal compared to the previous joint. Fouts was simply the worst college football stadium in the country, bar none. Not even close. But Apogee is the exact opposite of the old dump…

  19. Well he averaged just around 22 minutes per game, I could imagine if he slimmed down a bit he could be even better. He was looking really tired after playing 29 minutes in the Saturday game against us. He could put on more muscle and lose the fat, and be more dominant than Bassey... who knows, but it's something I think could be beneficial.

  22. Thank you for these great, thorough updates. I didn't know about some of the guys. I knew about Carlos and Sebastian, of course....and knew of Cazaubon. I had hopes that Snyman and Churchman were on some tour. But I had no idea about the others. And thanks for the info on Cazaubon, Snyman, and Churchman. (and how they're doing on current tours). It will be really nice if either of our really good lady golfers...Lauren Cox or Audrey Tan....get a shot at the LPGA. I know Audrey is just a junior....and has one more year here. We had an alum on the LPGA for a year or two. A Swedish gal named Nina Reis. She never won....or even challenged....but she made the cut a few times. Thanks again for these updates....

  23. With Munoz and Ortiz off this week, it may be a good moment to look at some of NTs other alumni again. First lets stay in the Americas, where -by my count- 3 NT alumni are teeing it up on the PGA Latinoamerica this week (third level of professional golf). That tour had many cancelled events because the VID is still strong in south America. Because of whether only half the players finished their 2nd round on friday. Rubio and Villasana will miss the cut, but Cazaubon is currently tied for 4th. Next lets go to Europe, and there is good news there on the second level of professional golf, the challenge tour. While Rosenmueller who plays regularly on that tour missed the cut. However Kristof Ulnaers is killing it on his first start there: leading the field by 4 shots after two rounds! Lets hope they don't pull a john Rahm on him). or those who wonder: that challenge tour tournament has a total purse of 200k Euros (240k$) He got that start after having so far a great season on the pro golf tour (third level,) where he finished in second last week and is currently 5th on the order of merit (which totals about 10k in winnings). Meanwhile Ian Snyman just keeps playing great on that Big easy tour in south Africa (third level I guess), and has made 4 top 20 results in a row and won a second one of those tournaments. Since that is a small tour I assume that is about 3k in winnings all together for him.

  27. 100% I don't see how he wins more than 4 games this year. Maybe 5 and that's a stretch. In year 6, he will have to have to have the coaching performance of his career this season to get back to a respectable record. I don't know why the lights would suddenly come on here in year 6 but I guess it's possible. If he wins 4-5 games and Wren lets him come back next year, then that's a bigger picture issue (one that will show that nothing has changed at NT) that will put the spot light squarely on our AD. Littrell will have 4 losing seasons here out of 6 and more than likely an overall losing conference record in the worst conference in football. I would say a safe bet would is he's gone after this year and best case for him, is an OC at a P5 next year.

  30. Dr. Smatresk is a very effective and creative leader. If he continues sharing his vision and is successful in bringing the other presidents on board, our conference will be completely renovated in every way in a very short period of time. I'm excited about his tenure and have high expectations.

  32. I read somewhere few days ago where they were related. “Pancho & Lefty” was composed by Townes Van Zandt just outside the Denton city limits in August of 1972. Texas Monthly(?) had a feature article on the writing of that song which SUMG made me aware of about a year ago. Best country video ever IMHO. ❇️🦅❇️

  34. I would be more concerned messing up his hamstring, but I can see the point. Nothing wrong with having a player who can go off from deep coming off the bench though. Next year our freshman group coming back as freshman again is going to be killer!
