Excited to see what Abou can do next year! 4 more years for him and he could really shine! The future.

With Munoz and Ortiz off this week, it may be a good moment to look at some of NTs other alumni again. First lets stay in the Americas, where -by my count- 3 NT alumni are teeing it up on the PGA Latinoamerica this week (third level of professional golf). That tour had many cancelled events because the VID is still strong in south America. Because of whether only half the players finished their 2nd round on friday. Rubio and Villasana will miss the cut, but Cazaubon is currently tied for 4th. Next lets go to Europe, and there is good news there on the second level of professional golf, the challenge tour. While Rosenmueller who plays regularly on that tour missed the cut. However Kristof Ulnaers is killing it on his first start there: leading the field by 4 shots after two rounds! Lets hope they don't pull a john Rahm on him). or those who wonder: that challenge tour tournament has a total purse of 200k Euros (240k$) He got that start after having so far a great season on the pro golf tour (third level,) where he finished in second last week and is currently 5th on the order of merit (which totals about 10k in winnings). Meanwhile Ian Snyman just keeps playing great on that Big easy tour in south Africa (third level I guess), and has made 4 top 20 results in a row and won a second one of those tournaments. Since that is a small tour I assume that is about 3k in winnings all together for him.

I realize, that most of us know that Munoz and Ortiz are succesful on the PGA tour. However I tried to look up who else is currently out there trying to make a go of it. I Found quite a few from the last few years, but am sure I am missing more. Currently I count at least three alumni who have profiles on the PGA Latinoamerica tour, where Cazaubon is currently 27th on points, Gonzalo Rubio is 55th and Villasano also has a profile. For those who forgot, Cazaubon actually managed to qualify for the last Olympics. Doesn't look like he will be able to repeat this as too many Mexicans have gotten good recently and Ortiz appears to have one of the two spots locked up. Thomas Rosenmueller won the Pro golf tour in 2020 (Third European tier, based in Germany) by winning three tournaments. I think this will allow him to move up to the challenge tour (the second tier of European golf, roughly equivalent to the Korn Ferry tour). He made about 28K in the process. He is now 375th in the Official World golf ranking (OWGR) Kristof Ulnaers is apparently also playing on the Pro golf tour (where he finished 49th in the order of Merrit in 2020). Ian Snyman has also broken into the world golf rankings top 1000, by winning a tournament on the "big easy tour " (i think that is an African tour) earlier this year. Cory Churchman appears to be 2nd on this years NTPGA Players Tour Points List and has recently also played once on the Korn Ferry tour (I assume through Monday qualifying) Andrew Hudson was apparently playing on the PGA tour China in 2019, don't know what happened since. I am sure I missed a number.

If Judy remains....CUSA will never move forward.

A couple offseason tweets the last couple days, showing the new team getting some early practices going. Rasheed Browne and Hameir Wright signings announced Practice shots. Not sure who that is with Thomas Bell. Abou looking ready for more workload this year

Thank you for these great, thorough updates. I didn't know about some of the guys. I knew about Carlos and Sebastian, of course....and knew of Cazaubon. I had hopes that Snyman and Churchman were on some tour. But I had no idea about the others. And thanks for the info on Cazaubon, Snyman, and Churchman. (and how they're doing on current tours). It will be really nice if either of our really good lady golfers...Lauren Cox or Audrey Tan....get a shot at the LPGA. I know Audrey is just a junior....and has one more year here. We had an alum on the LPGA for a year or two. A Swedish gal named Nina Reis. She never won....or even challenged....but she made the cut a few times. Thanks again for these updates....

What a waste of time this article is. Apogee is awesome and looks like the Taj Mahal compared to the previous joint. Fouts was simply the worst college football stadium in the country, bar none. Not even close. But Apogee is the exact opposite of the old dump…

I'm sure that they will share; I was just pointing the talent that is available. The usage is up to Tommy Mainord. I have been pleased with Coach Mainord. He has developed several good receivers each year. I feel sure that he will give adequate playing time to the best receivers but he has enough depth to keep fresh legs when necessary.

Yeah... but the Goat never had a viable back-up while here... now we likely have two decent options. Aune numbers wise, was comparable to almost any QB in CUSA last year.

I am eager to see this movie, especially for the Pythian Home scenes. My late wife was a Home girl from the age of 8 until we married after her junior year at NTSU.

Believe that's Jamiah in the lower left.......so that answers the question of whether he would be back. With him....seems to me, that we still have one scholarship to give.

I'm not sure why this hasn't been done already, but the easy solution to all of this is for ND and BYU to join CUSA. Thoughts?

If I remember right, Derek is from Glen Rose. This gets him closer to home (~ 1/2 as far as it was from Sherman).

C-USA Baseball and and Mens soccer are some of the primary reasons C-USA is better than the sun belt....and NT isn't part of it.

Exactly. And every sport at every level except FBS football. I won't deny that this new proposed arrangement gives us a better chance than the 4-team playoff. But it's still strongly tilted away from us. And if we cave in on this, what is to stop the P5s from appealing to this precedent in the future, and say, "Not every conference in football gets an autobid....Why should every conference in basketball get an autobid?"?

It might make sense from a parity and competitiveness standpoint, but it makes no "cent$" for the P5.

I may be stupid, but if there are 10 conferences and you are going to allow 12 teams in the playoffs, wouldn't it make since to put all 10 conference champs in and then the next two highest rated teams that are not conference champs? That way, you are guaranteed five G5 schools. At least then a kid knows that if he goes G5, he has a chance to compete for the biggest prize in the game. May not get there, but at least you have the opportunity. Kind of like basketball.

Why do you think Lofton would be a better ballplayer at a lower weight? His size with his agility is what makes him a special player. He might be better at a significantly lower weight, but he also could be a lot easier to defend.

If NT could come out of September with two or more wins I would think it would help maintain the interest/attendance...It looks tough to do.

you don't have to go into doctorate studies. We've seen other student athletes enroll in a second masters program, just to retain playing eligibility. They might not even be interested in the degree itself, just playing. As long as they're on scholly, it's not like they're losing money to all this tuition, right?

It’s not uncommon for these guys to pursue multiple grad degrees (non PhD), even if just for the sake of maintaining the full-time student status. Ryan Finley did 3 years as a grad student at NC State (same situation as Ryder just without the extra COVID year) and got a couple grad degrees. Aune and Ruder have 3 and 4 years of eligibility left, respectively, and both have their undergrads. Unless Ruder really lights it up, I think whoever wins the job will not forego much eligibility just because they finished the degrees they wanted. NFL teams want to see 3 years of starting experience generally, especially with G5 QBs. So even if Ruder does light it up I expect him at least for the next three seasons. And if that’s the scenario I think we’d all be ecstatic at how that turned out, regardless of if Drummond stuck around or not.

Add in our TE's Roberts, Pirtle, Alberding, Lyles and Lee, plus Addaway and Torrey out of our backfield and this is by far the deepest we have ever been at the skill positions.
