  2. You are in my prayers tonight, Mitch. I was diagnosed with the same 21 years ago and continue to be cancer free. We will expect to hear of your complete recovery in the very near future. Remember this thing does not define who your are. You got this, my friend!

  4. If we're talking 12, then each G5 should have their champ represented as well. Having just the 1 highest-ranked G5 represented should be satisfactory for an 8-team playoff (which is where it actually should land).

  5. My expectation is to win CUSA West this year.

  6. i don't think he gets hired away unless he wins 11 jobs... i think the P5 would notice the 3 years of mediocrity after his first 2 seasons (yes, the 9-4 season was mediocre)

  7. I’m not a gambling man, but sitting here wearing these green tinted glasses and drinking this green kool aid, I may have to find a bookie and get in on some of this action.🤣🤣

  8. I don’t think the wins and losses will dictate a return next year as much as seeing progress. If we go 4-7 and lose 4 or 5 games by 20 plus points, it’s time for him to go...especially if it seems like the same ol song and dance. If we go 4-7, but most games are competitive, I think he will get another year...especially if we are playing young players who are showing signs of growth.

  10. Thanks! Was fortunate enough to be awarded the Agnes Greene memorial scholarship honoring his late wife a few years ago. Got to meet him and his family and they are all great people! Couldn’t be a nicer family!

  11. It may be unrealistic, but compared to what we are paying him vs the others, it *should* be realistic. Earn what you make!

  12. I feel like we overstate how much Littrell “rotated” last year. We rotated QBs for the first game and a half of last season, and that was really it. He settled on Aune by the second half of the second game. Aune blew the opportunity by having an awful half at MTSU, but it’s not like Littrell was still rotating QBs. Aune’s turnovers necessitated a change. Then Bean lit it up and again, Littrell held firm with Bean rather than continuing to rotate. Only went back to Aune after a lengthy stretch of subpar passing performances from Bean and stuck with Aune the rest of the UTEP game. My point is, Littrell made it clear last year that he didn’t want to rotate QBs. He made in-game QB changes, but the rotating was done by halftime of the SMU game. I expect something similar this year unless Ruder just comes in and wins the competition hands down. Probably see them both in the first two games then roll with one from there on out.

  14. I hope Seth rolls with one QB the entire year, no more of the BS. I also hope Ruder pans out. No offense to Aune, but Ruder seems like a better candidate for the offense even if he hasn’t been in our system.

  15. If I am a betting man.. I think it will be on the OL. It will add some depth since the departures of Gray and OSU transfer

  16. really, if you're going to have 12 that's 3 rounds anyway, why not the full 16.

  17. Yep. All 10 FBS conference champs + 2 At Large. This will catch all the Top 5 (usually)

  18. ...or else what? Because I have a feeling you're going to be disappointed. Unless that's not your real expectation, and you're just being a die-hard.

  19. Seth it seems is very well liked by the people who could provide the money to buy-out his contract. Would be nice if they could restructure his contract like Michigan did with Harbaugh to make it more incentive based.

  20. That 9-4 season finished rather blah, mostly because SL and GH were at the top of the wish lists for several openings, but to the strong majority of the CFB world, his success in his first three years here were considered damn near miraculous. Him coming back here for Mason Fine's senior season was basically thought to be his swan song here, at least until the wheels fell off and Fine was pounded into the ground over and over.

  21. No, those numbers are quite meaningful, Cougar King, & anyone who took a college marketing classes or 2 knows they are. By the way, were you OK with the crowd at fabulous Apogee Stadium vs UH couple years back? 🤔 CK, I do have to ask if you have a life other than being on GMG & acting sorta’ adolescent at times? Seems you spend much of your time on this forum looking thru UNT’s small rear view mirror while most of us here are looking ahead through a much larger (& yes, green-tinted) front window going forward. Fact still remains that UH, SMU, Tulsa, Memphis, Tulane & similar are still (just like UNT) all Group of 5 schools at the end of the day. Not one seems to have a map to get back in a P5 existence unless it would be as a Major Independent. So y’all can all just sit in a circle, hands in laps, call your league a P5 & even lie about being one in an AAC TV commercial but fact remains you still can’t take spots off a leopard with TV commercials trying to convince the world y’all are Lion Kings. ••• BACK TO GMG....Again, why does it seem every time anything good or what could be construed as positive sounding about UNT how “WALA!”—ol’ Coog’ King is suddenly on this forum like a human pop-up ad flexing that muscle between his ears as he reminds all how UH is light years ahead of everyone else, but (honestly).......if that were the case—why did a small private university in Fort Worth with less than 6,000 undergrad students get yalls spot in the Big 12? ❇️🦅❇️

  22. Yep. I really hope someone this year TAKES the QB position. I don't care how old they are or what their name is or where they came from. Last year it seemed our QBs kept LOSING the position to each other, as opposed to winning it from each other. Last year we had a 4th round NFL Wide Receiver on our roster who scored 19 TDs. I'm still pretty high on our skill position talent, but Darden isn't going to be here to bail out bad QB play.

  27. I think the years of the CUSA west being a dumpster fire are over. Rice is vastly improving, UTSA is probably the best team in the conference *gag*, Southern Miss was so young last year they should be back to 6-7 wins, La Tech might have a down year but usually consistent, and UAB is a top team in the conference. UTEP is just UTEP, Dimel has destroyed the program even more than it already was… My point is, we missed the window to dominate and now we have to reevaluate each year while other teams are gaining momentum. I think we should be fine this year , but Seth wasted 4 years worth of opportunities to win a championship.

  28. Only two options unless we go 0-fer. He has a great year and gets hired away. Otherwise, he will be here a minimum of two more years. I hope he is successful and has a long, great career at UNT. Anyone catch the show on ESPN about Coach K called "The Class That Saved Coach K"? He was basically a .500 coach prior to the class of Johnny Dawkins, Jay Bilas, Mark Alarie, David Henderson and Weldon Williams. His record since then is incredible. Hope SL has found his class.

  29. Correct. Seth has had very good recruiting classes the past two years. If he leaves, with the ease and popularity of the portal, we could have quite a few players take off

  31. I have a feeling we're about to see Rubin blow the roof off of this thing next season. It's not Javion's show anymore, and Rubin can do it all. Give me: 1. Brown/Perry 2. McBride 3. Jones 4. Bell 5. Ousmane/Wright EDIT: Not sure if we've just had 2 of the top 10 best players in the past 2 decades (IMO) playing PG back-to-back while McCasland has been here, or he just wants his best player handling the ball more, but if the latter, I wouldn't be surprised to see Jones bring the ball up the floor like a PG quite a bit.

  35. Even during their bad time it seemed a lot of Miner fans were always optimistically hopeful. Dimel seems to have crushed the souls of even the biggest Miner fans. This man needs to go.

  36. SL is widely respected for his offensive mind. It's not out of the question that they overlook the 3 years of mediocrity. Someone out there could think, "he has figured it out."

  37. She just likes to stir the pot…she’s not posting on killerfrogs or texags or orangebloods as they would laugh at her posts about UH belonging as a P5. Instead, she comes here because we can’t even compete with them when we do play and it makes us look much worse in her eyes. It’s really pathetic—it’s basically the equivalent of someone who rents an apartment and has a lot of debt, but drives by the homeless shelter to make fun of them for being down right now. Both Texas State and UTSA beat them badly in Houston in the last decade…I highly doubt they ever see these kinds of posts, but then again, I wouldn’t peg her as being really in tune with reality; either…

  38. Mitch, just keep winning.

  39. Agree. If Ruder is not he starter by midseason it was a wasted transfer. With the young QBs we have if you brought him in with the amount of time he has left he needs to be a starter

  41. @TheReal_jayD Thank you as always for your insight. Hearing any good rumors for the last scholarship?

  42. The key that I think is being overlooked is that McCasland is the best head basketball coach in the league. He has brought this set of players together for a reason. I don't think he recruited transfers to be backups or role players. I definitely do not agree with the thought that NT will start 3 bigs. Possible, but unlikely based on prior McCasland's NT lineups and that would be highly unusual in today's game. Coming close to last year's team is going to be very difficult. Hamlet is IMO in the top 5 that I have seen play for NT, in the Kenneth Lyons, Joe Hamilton category. Replacing his ability is highly unlikely. Plus the underrated Simmons, who was far from flashy, but could play well against any other centers. Assuming McCasland's usual nightmare oc schedule, NT will struggle early; but by conference; they should again battle WKU for the championship.

  43. I think with 4-5 wins Seth gets one more year. The Bennett hire is a 2 year deal and his recruiting has been outstanding. If Rudder is as good as advertised I could see us bowling! GMG

  44. I agree, but I do think many on this board think we will win more than 6 games this season and will say that he should be able to at this juncture of his tenure here, which is tough to argue. BUt that defensive philosophy from the Leach tree ain't changin' anytime soon. And I think that he's got to have INCREDIBLE QB play to make it work for his system and he hasn't ahs that since Mason finished his Junior year. After that, Graham Harrell left and the cumulative beating Fine took finally caught up to him his senior year, when our OLine was even worse than it had been before his last year. Maybe he gets that from one of his QBs this fall, but if he does, it will basically come from out of nowhere. Aune or Ruder have a lot to prove--and that doesn't usually make 6+ wins become a reality if neither of them can assert themselves. And, as you mentioned, that schedule, especially the first half of the season, is just brutal for where we are right now as a program. Brutal.
