  3. If I remember correctly, he was a late signer at a position of need. He gave us depth and played hard, but never seemed to make an impact. He should be happier and we have others that can do what he did. I hope he finds a new home.

  8. 6)---"Mean" Joe Greene Joe Greene got his nickname playing collegiate football for the North Texas Mean Green defense. One of the best defensive linemen in NFL history, Greene was a 10-time Pro Bowl selection and a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers "Steele Curtain" defensive line in the 1970s. Greene, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of fame in 1987, played 13 seasons in the NFL (1969-1981), all with the Steelers. 9. I feel like this is a trap game for Mizzou. They have Tennessee before and Texas A&M after, and if they beat Tennessee I would bet they would be looking over us for TAMU. It’s a chance to pounce

  10. Here is a video of the 1’st touchdown ever at fabulous Apogee Stadium vs the Houston Cougars. It was a glorious moment for we older geezers who pert’ near lost our eyesights👀watching games at venerable Fouts Field for decades. 🟥UH Coach Kevin Sumlin had to call 2 timeouts due to crowd noise.

  12. I believe we had Indiana in Denton in either '11 or '12. To me that's a bigger deal than Cal just considering that they are a B10 team. Still exciting that Cal is coming to Denton tho.

  13. And many more... Jim Hobdy has given more volunteer time (with free banners, posters, flyers, etc) than anyone in the Mean Green Nation. Jim was UNT Athletic Promotions Director on a shoestring budget & was still able to get admirable results; and those were happening when winning records were hardly plentiful. Congrats on another birthday, JH!👌

  14. If he doesn't crack the starting lineup, then we have some pretty good guys already in Denton. Bare minimum, Francis adds solid depth. Potentially a all-CUSA guy though!

  16. And, the creator of the Mean Green Battle Flag. Long may it and Drex wave. ( my wife and I call the giant flag in front of Apogee Big Jim )

  19. https://247sports.com/Article/Texas-high-school-football-class-of-2022-no-FBS-offers-yet-underrecruited-162069142/ The class of 2022 is going to test the evaluation skills of every college across the country. With the NCAA having been in a dead period since mid-March of 2020, the current juniors were not able to be seen by coaches this past spring. The NCAA recently extended that dead period through at least the end of May so that means that coaches will not be able to see them this spring either.

  24. A lot of big words for a football forum. I had a friend that used to say, “Never use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.” Indubitably !

  25. The Cal fans were so nice to me in Berkeley. They raved about Mason, and said he was so much better than their QB. A few of them even shook my hand after the game.

  27. “The Drive” is still my favorite all time Mean Green Moment(s). My old NTSU roommate & I were in the north end zone exit area when #6 hit #34 with the Hail Mary sideline pass which created a roar of the crowd. Didn’t take us long to get back inside the end zone seating area where we could watch Mason Fine, Rico Bussey, Jr. & the Mean Green finish the deal. It was glorious inside Apogee Stadium after that. Never seen so many happy people. We’d all just witnessed a MG miracle. ❇️ ❇️🦅❇️

  31. Being in the B10 doesn't do anything more for Indiana's football credibility than, say, KU's football cred being in the B12 or Vandy in the SEC. Cal is definitely a step up.

  34. That just seems more amazing to me the farther removed it gets. 98 yards in a 1:07 with no timeouts and we actually drove down field as opposed to busting a big play or throwing a Hail Mary. Unbelievable.
