Y’all, If you live in DFW and have any ability, you need to get up to Lovelace to see Trautwein pitch at least once before she graduates. She’s the greatest to ever lace ‘em up for MG Softball. Just on a totally different level. I know UAPB is pretty bad, but to strike out every batter you face is simply incredible at any level. Way to go Hope & way to go Mean Green Softball!7 points

Amazing! https://meangreensports.com/news/2021/4/11/softball-hope-trautwein-perfection.aspx?fbclid=IwAR3-r01nDP0gityjMB2i970p_Yx3FuHcw9tYAqDbNxucSvseCAKYLhfNMUY6 points

I saw this, and when I clicked on the video, it showed her last out. And after the final K, in which her softball was already in the catcher's mitt before the batter began her swing, she just kinda skipped off the field like it was just a normal win for her. No crazy celebration or anything... just "met expectations". She's phenomenal.6 points

A buddy of mine in Florida who played baseball at Alabama and has no ties to NT other than he knows I love the Mean Green, is in the early stages of his fight with ALS. He has texted me twice in the past month or so. One was a "how about the Mean Green" text with a pic of Hamlet after the Purdue win. The other was the ESPN story of Hope Trautwein's perfect game. His comment: "A record that can only be tied, at best." Supporting college sports matters. GMG5 points

In addition to the fact that the transfer portal should be larger this year I believe that North Texas will be more attractive to transfers because of the success that we had at the Dance.3 points

Was on Sports Center just prior to the Top Ten. How this didn't make the Top Ten over your typical home runs and dunks is crazy to me. One other note, UAPB's facility is horrible. Googled "Hope Trautwein" and here is a sampling of page one's results. Nice coverage. The window to the university. https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/31240353/north-texas-softball-pitcher-hope-trautwein-strikes-all-21-batters-perfect-game https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/apr/12/softball-pitcher-perfect-game-21-strikeouts-hope-trautwein-north-texas https://abc13.com/north-texas-softball-pitcher-hope-trautwein-perfect-game-21-strikeouts/10509626/ https://uproxx.com/sports/north-texas-hope-traut-perfect-game-softball-21-strikeouts-video/ https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10001255-north-texas-hope-trautwein-strikes-out-all-21-batters-in-perfect-game3 points

Good stuff. As someone who doesn't really follow the draft, it dawned on me that these workouts are probably very important to Darden's draft potential. Much more than the SEC guys. I'm thinking, if they are dwelling a lot on the CUSA-level of competition, they are going to look for everything they can find to justify his production, or prove it was an illusion. Guys who produce at the top level of NCAA competition and get de facto-placed at the top of these mock drafts, these workouts probably don't have a ton of value to them. At least, not as much.3 points

Look on the bright side, 3.5 months until fall practice starts and 2 weeks away from a great NT player being drafted.3 points

Whoever in Michigan called in just now to get Mel’s take on Darden...props to you! Mel has him as a 3, but thinks he will be a steal in 4 or 5 because of so many receivers.2 points

I have a business relationship with a company in Regina, Sas, the hometown of the Roughriders, and I told her to look out for Mason Fine. She told me that vertically challenged QBs have a history of doing well in the CFL. She is from Texas and knows all about NT. The Mean Green Nation is expanding.2 points

I didn't realize he was an alumni. Great character actor. The original Caretaker in the best "Longest Yard." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Hampton_(actor)2 points

I hope he goes in the 3rd round as that would be day 2, and would be great, but seems like he should be drafted so we can get that behind us. know we just need to keep developing talent so it continues. You can see from the free agents in the league we have had some good players. It all helps with the biggest goal recruiting.2 points

To me, to generate any interest in UNT athletics as a whole, more people need to show interest in everything UNT. North Texas Cheer wins a national championship and other than the few who comment here, no one cares. I bet if this was Texas, they would have at least a 1000 who care. We have to show that we care about all of UNT in order to get the best kids to come here. Just my opinion.2 points

If I remember correctly, the female soccer player from Purdue had already committed to UNT as a grad transfer. She was still kicking field goals and extra points for the football team; garnering national headlines.2 points

Brune said he’s expecting closer to the end of the month for the dominos to start falling. https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/Article/Update-on-North-Texas-Mean-Green-basketballs-roster-163952942/ For example, in 2019 we landed Javion Hamlet, James Reese, Deng Geu, and Thomas Bell all within a 2 or 3-day span at the very end of April. Reese and Hamlet committed together on April 28th and Geu and Bell committed on the 30th. Wouldn’t be surprised to see the dominos fall quickly once they start. Especially if these guys come in on visits together here in the next couple weeks or so.2 points

I remember watching James Franklin while he was at Lake Dallas HS back in the late oughts. I can only imagine he was what Vince Young looked like in HS... just on a totally different level than anyone else on the field. Had a nice career at Mizzou, then NFL, then CFL! Hope Mason gets a chance to win this job. If he gets a fair shake (not slighted for his height), it should be his.2 points

The Rangers are protesting MLB by refusing to field a major team. Daniels says he will continue to field a AA team until he is no longer the GM. Why is this guy still here? You can hire and fire as many managers as you like but the problems is above them.1 point

Part of the Torii Hunter baseball/softball complex. The baseball stadium is pretty nice. I read where the softball complex is currently under construction. Pine Bluff is my Mom's hometown. Sadly, the economy has been tough on that community since the early 80's. Not the safest place to be.1 point

The transfer portal is only a requirement for NCAA D1 athletes. Arcadia is like DIII. Not even sure he was on scholarship there.1 point

Just as an FYI, the portal has been around since 2018. Did we have a problem with it before the 2020 COVID rules? https://www.ncaa.org/static/champion/what-the-ncaa-transfer-portal-is/1 point

If this player was a walk on, whether he comes to NT or not would not affect the scholarship level. My guess is he hopes to get a sholly somewhere.1 point

And don't forget about Drez. The guy was key in getting the NCAA win. We have some talent coming back.1 point

Fantastic pickup. Most of our other backs outside of Torrey (who's gone after this season anyways) are bigger backs. He'll be a perfect compliment to them1 point
