  1. This is CUSA, every conference game is winnable.

  3. It would be great if we could get both Hamlet and Reese back for another year. I think that Hamlet is good enough for the NBA and I wish him success but if he doesn't make it this time and doesn't want to play overseas then maybe he'd return for another try. I believe that Reese is looking for an elite team as a showcase for his talents and if he doesn't get one then I believe that he might return. I also wish that we could get another big man with the equivalent of Simmons talent but I know that they are as scarce as hen's teeth. With the talent that is coming in, I believe that the bench will be stronger. If we could get back-to-back Dance performances it would go a long way to maintaining status as a rising "power".

  6. I am not sure why anyone thinks we don’t have a competent OL. Our pass defense and run blocking was so much better last year. Our OL was by far the most improved unit on the team. And maybe we end up with a new starting QB but if we do, it’s a good thing. It would mean that Ruder is as talented as advertised and beat out the returning starter. We might only win four games again next year, but I kind of doubt it. With CUSA being so inconsistent and unpredictable we are probably more likely to win 6.

  8. I hate to sound like a buzz kill... However the talent gap between the NCAA and the NBA massively wide, even the international leagues in Europe and Australia have a lot of talent that they are developing with their own pipelines. Are the realistic options for pro ball really better then playing college ball? at least when you finish college ball you earn a degree.

  9. It’s over once you sign with the agent. You can enter your name in the draft and then withdraw it later, but only if you don’t sign with an agent. The moment you sign with an agent you are no longer an amateur athlete, whether you retain that agent or not.

  17. I think McCasland probably invisioned him as a Bell type stretch four but he never seemed to be comfortable with his outside shot and not a great rebounder. He was a main scoring threat in JC but couldn't create his own shot or athletic enough on the pick and roll in our offense. Not a knock on him, sometimes you don't know till you have them at practice whether they can adjust to a different style or system.

  20. When I was in high school, some of my friends participated in rodeo events. The prizes awarded were usually fancy western belt buckles with the rodeo and the event engraved. I understood that the buckles had to be mounted on a plaque and therefore useless as a buckle since a belt buckle had value in order to preserve one’s amateur status. We’ve come a long way. 23. I was freshman in 1961 when we were in the Missouri Valley Conference. The original men's gymnasium [aka The Pit ] could barely hold 2,500 to 3,000 fans, but when it was full the venue really rocked. The Super Pit is too big with too few fans to replicate that experience so I certainly see the value in a smaller venue but not the cost.

  25. Tell these high talent kids that you're interested and you never know? I read a comment the other day from a top recruit that said he chose his P5 school based off of them establishing relationship before anyone else. I don't think we are handing these out like popcorn candy, which would definitely wig me out, so once in a while (like, one every 3-4 years) seems coolcool. Get your name out there. Establish a new pipeline. Now that I think about it, how much have we recruited Alabama?

  29. Doesn't look like new developments. Seems to follow what we all know - except now there is a recording of the ad execs post conference call talking about their feelings about him as a person (how they think he is not a good face of the company - they think he lacks introspection and is a racist at heart). Now - maybe/likely the conference call was leaked as a setup to force bad press, but the conference call itself was no a setup. No one made him drop the N word. He was riffing and let the n-word fly casually. I am not here to cast judgement on that, but a company board can vote out members and fire a CEO. That is what happened and follows what we know. It's odd for him to admit to it first, then go conspiracy on it, then admit he struggled to rid the N word from his vocabulary.. then all this press release driven mumbo jumbo.

  32. Jason Bean went through the transfer portal so I have no doubt that Kansas is giving him a scholarship. Based on last year's quarterback he would be a strong candidate to start. Last year Bean ranked 32nd in passing rating and Howard (last year quarterback at KU) ranked 95. I realize that P5 defensive backs are much tougher to throw against than G5s but that's still a big difference. Lifer and Wag Tag I think nailed his two worse faults. He is not a team player. If he is not in the game he becomes disinterested; moping around on the sidelines instead of cheering on whoever is quarterback. His other fault as I see it is arm strength. He is more of a thrower than passer. He puts too much air under his long throws. P5 DBs will have time to recover even if the receiver beats him. He did improve last year and was not far behind Aune (26th) in passing rating. He has the better running ability of any of our quarterbacks and may be just what Kansas needs. At least, he appears to be the best of what they have.
