  1. Committed! Back to back years we get a commit from a back with multiple SEC offers.

  3. Losing guys like Jalen Jackson and Terence Lewis, who were not rotation players come tournament time, helps by giving you spots to upgrade and get guys who can be rotation players.

  4. Who are you rooting for tonight? I’m a Texan through and through, and typically I would pull for the Texas school, but Baylor just gives me a slimy feeling in general so I gotta pull for the Zags

  5. I completely agree and would add that the media generally contributes to the divisiveness as much as the politicians.

  7. I would add that new arenas tend to have much better sight lines, bring fans closer to the court, etc. Glaring things missing: practice courts connected to the arena, world class weight/training spaces, etc.

  8. Okay. Not sure how this applies to this topic.

  9. I would hope the new basketball arena. The Super Pit served its purpose, but it's time for a major upgrade and a true basketball facility.

  10. McCasland should be here for another couple of years. The jobs around here that he would leave for are all filled currently. Beard at UT, Adams at Tech, Dixon at TCU, Sampson at UH, Moser at OU, Boynton at OSU, and Mussleman at Arky. Maybe Jank at SMU could be an opening sooner than later, but the regional schools seem full at the current moment for a couple of years. With McCasland’s parents being near here, it seems pretty solid to assume he will be here for at least two more seasons.

  11. I’ve got an idea. On punt coverage, when the punting team is expecting a fair catch, just stand there. I know it sounds crazy, but just stand there and when the punting team starts to walk off, run the ball back hopefully for a touchdown. Nah.... That would never work.

  12. Frisco cares about the kids. Allen wants championships and doesn't seem to care too much about the majority of their kids.

  14. I'm not familiar with Megan Thee Stallion, but how embarrassing for her...she doesn't win, then gets patted on the head in front of everyone like a kindergartner. Or maybe she's thankful Billy Eilish is there to hold her hand? She's a professional so I hope not...

  15. At this point I will welcome anyone back. He has 4 years of experience and a high IQ. I don’t like him starting but I think he brings a lot to the bench and can be a great mentor for our guys next year. We need some consistency and then next year we can shop the market. He also may benefit staying a year with his engineering degree.

  16. What Allen has done is a travesty. It is shameful that their concept is allowed from the Texas legislature. It is not good for families and most of all the kids.

  17. I agree that they are going to have to play an important role, but outside of Jones, I don't see Mac being terrific with freshmen. Am I missing something there?

  20. Seats are WAY too small and narrow Lighting is terrible Too big and cavernous for a team that gets 3k fans on average (it could change next year) Many outdated features Not very attractive from the highway

  22. Got that backwards, sort of. They replaced a great venue with a good one, since The Ballpark is still standing.

  23. Latest numbers I found, was that Allen when you include the separate freshmen school is 6450. The second highest student population is at 4790 at Skyline magnet school I disagree with the above, Frisco and Allen do not have equal results. This also is about much more than athletes. You restrict the opportunities for academic honors, student council, UIL events, etc. Community unity, yes I think Austin, Dallas and Houston ought to take that approach. Allen would have a good time playing those teams.

  29. I hope Baylor has an off night, we get 50+ points between Timme and Kispert, Gonzaga guards shoot 60%+ from 3, and Baylor is buried on an astronomically historic and embarrassing level. Baylor basketball shouldn't be in the public eye for 100 years.

  30. So when will they open more high schools in Allen.? Neighboring Frisco has opened a new 5A school every year. For the past 10 years.I can never respect Allen with their desire to put sports ahead of the general student population. In fact they underform compared to other schools of smaller size.

  31. Wasn't the lighting improved recently? If not, that's a really, really easy thing to fix in a building like this. Seating can also be changed out, as we've seen before. I went to a couple of games two years ago and sat about 4-5 rows up from the floor, and I don't recall feeling any more cramped than I do at most stadiums, and I'm a pretty portly guy. (You want skinny seats? Upper deck in the The Ballpark in Arlington/Globe Life Park. They're 2-3 inches skinnier than lower deck.) As for how the Super Pit looks on the outside, the recent change from the old brown wood up around the top part to the silver shiny stuff looks better, IMO, but it could still be better. I always liked the SP because it kind of reminded me of old Reunion Arena in Dallas. Both were flat on top, with a large square or rectangular "lid" that extends out over the side. Too bad they didn't copy RA more and use a dark glassy finish around the top and then add some green (or multicolor) LED lighting around the periphery of the top to light up on game days. Some other easy improvements. They need better exterior lighting for walking across NT Blvd to the parking lots. Last game I went to I noticed the large mast lights were mostly out. They should cut back the trees around the SP so they don't look so old and block the view. They could also reroute or submerge the power/phone lines along Ave. D just east of the SP. Those old wooden telephone poles and sagging lines don't exactly scream "modern" to anyone. Oh, and lastly, paint the damn top of the roof. Put a bit green "UNT" or SoW on it so when people are looking at Denton in Google Maps or Google Earth, they see it!

  34. What I've noticed is that solid players from good schools want to play. If they don't see the prospect of playing time, often they do leave. This guy has enough skills to find a place for him. I want to see what he does on the field in 2021.

  35. I have a couple uninformed responses to this: Even though we are not the Rangers, it is looking more and more likely that this will indeed happen. Baseball is not a revenue sport at any college, yet we are one of the few in the NT area that does not have one. If this is in the Master Plan (which I haven't glanced at in ages), then there is enough interest to figure out how to make it work.

  36. Jason Bean went through the transfer portal so I have no doubt that Kansas is giving him a scholarship. Based on last year's quarterback he would be a strong candidate to start. Last year Bean ranked 32nd in passing rating and Howard (last year quarterback at KU) ranked 95. I realize that P5 defensive backs are much tougher to throw against than G5s but that's still a big difference. Lifer and Wag Tag I think nailed his two worse faults. He is not a team player. If he is not in the game he becomes disinterested; moping around on the sidelines instead of cheering on whoever is quarterback. His other fault as I see it is arm strength. He is more of a thrower than passer. He puts too much air under his long throws. P5 DBs will have time to recover even if the receiver beats him. He did improve last year and was not far behind Aune (26th) in passing rating. He has the better running ability of any of our quarterbacks and may be just what Kansas needs. At least, he appears to be the best of what they have.

  37. Zach has been here a while, right? It seems he has taken advantage of his time to learn a hard topic and to contribute and grow as a basketball player. Maybe he completed his degree? Sometimes you have to take risks on things. The age these guys are at are when you are most free to take those chances. If it works out or not, he's going to have some great experiences in the coming years - wherever that takes him. I hope he has fond memories of what was accomplished here and that he stays connected to UNT.

  38. If we keep the pit it needs to be given over to the athletic department. Has the pit ever sold out? I moved back to Denton just in time to enjoy the Benford era. I felt like the Magtag repair man at time. Then we win and the CBI had a good crowds but it was not sold out and then Covid hit. I rather have a smaller loud with a crowd then a big empty arena. Maybe make luxury boxes on the upper areas of the pit?

  39. I still believe it was a missed opportunity to build it where fours was with a parking garage in the back by the fields and the beer barn. Easy to hold tournaments and utilize the pit if needed, easier for students to walk to the games, and I think it would look better from the highway to see it across from Apogee. Parking and tailgating are all they need by apogee. Baseball field one day on the back side of the apogee land would be nice too.
