  1. "Everyone lives within 45 minutes of the Super Pit," McCasland said. "We always wanted it to be about family. Our players' and coaches' families are part of it." (Vito blurb from DRC). To my knowledge, no UNT HBC has ever had the BOR’s, the President & AD all on the same page as Coach McCasland. I hope this happy marriage continues & I think it will. He needs to be the highest paid coach in CUSA.

  2. Technically RG Daizion Carroll, although Farrell played LT. They moved Carroll out of the starting lineup, then bumped Gray from LG to RG, then Cole Brown from LT to LG, to put Farrell at LT. As soon as he became eligible. They shifted the line around to put him at arguably the most important OL position, which indicates they thought very highly of him.

  5. I can't stress enough how much I want Jalie to succeed here, but if she can't get our program squared away, I would welcome Aston back in a heartbeat.

  6. My son found this picture, evidently taken in 1975. The scoreboard shows the score of the victory over Tennessee. Why was Andre at Fouts Field? Any old timers know the story?

  9. big hire by UTSA, should put Mitchell on notice, still did not agree with contract extension in middle of season as the record then tanked late in the season.

  10. Mccasland may be somewhat close, but I’ve never seen a coach at NT that hates losing as much as Karen Aston. In any sport. I think Mitchell has things headed in the right direction, and we need to be supporting her (a fellow alum) and her team as much as we can. With that said if the NT job happened to be open because Jalie moved on or otherwise, Aston would be my first call. She wasn’t even unsuccessful at Texas. 93-51 record in Big 12 play.

  12. Great hire for UTSA and bad news for NT and the rest of the conference. Look for UTSA to dominate after a couple of years.

  14. Glad to see Riley reaching out to NT coaches! Hope he feels no ill will toward NT as most of us really like him & what he did while he was here.

  17. He’s a good player, is why we have interest. The OL needs a guy like him, but he seems to have other problems. I have optimism we see him back at some point in his career.

  18. NT's receiving corp should be really strong, so from that standpoint; it is not a big loss. However, Ogunmakin has IMO great potential if he can just cut down the number of drops.

  19. He was "released" from Okie St. for an off the field issue, if memory serves me correct, and now this. Seems like the young man needs to take care of some things personally. I wish him the best and don't expect to see him back.

  20. you also stated "over a year ago." The bowl game was in December, so he's still fresh on everyone's mind...even if the contribution wasn't much. It's not like he left Denton 12+ months ago.

  21. As “terrible” as America apparently is I read somewhere where about a billion people would bust our borders to still get here. ••• Can we ever talk the high percentages of every race in the USA who are not bad, mean & ugly? (crickets)? No ratings on that kind of story, right, Wolf?

  22. Somewhere in this whole asinine argument is the Golden Rule. Question: So, if someone, who in their heart of hearts, is not racist, but attended UT and loves that school with all their heart, as we love our school, and sang Eyes of Texas at every opportunity without knowing it's "history," are they racist? Or, are they just judged as racist? As I stated before, racism is in the eye of the beholder.

  24. So I am extremely mixed on what Langston did here at UNT. He did happen to bring in a lot of the talent we have had and have now (Ex Riley Mayfield, Mose, Woodworth, among others) but it seemed that he couldn’t quite develop them. Injuries did hurt, but the group never got guys like Jordan Murray to a good level. I wish him the best.

  25. Definitely not an old timer, however I love both Andre the Giant and researching things on the internet so I did some snooping... Game happened October 25, 1975. Was in the middle Fry turning the program around. First time that UT and UNT played. Seemed to be a pretty big upset when UNT came in and beat the recently dropped out of the rankings UT, on UT’s home field. Here’s some footage from the game: https://texashistory.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc272194/m1/ Also apparently this game was listed on the UNT Football website as one of the ‘Five most memorable games’ for a time. Not sure if it still is! Andre the giant was actually in the middle of a rumor of the sorts during that time, where people thought he would sign with the Washington Redskins, however it seems as if the Redskins couldn’t convince him to tryout and play, as he was making so much money and the rumor was squashed about a month before this photo was taken. Here’s some more on that, pretty entertaining read honestly: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2655400-urban-legends-of-the-nfl-andre-the-giant-defensive-end-washington-redskins On wrestlingdata.com, it says that Andre was in Lubbock on the 24th, and Fort Worth on the 27th Wrestling. So I’m not sure he was actually at the game itself, and also the game footage from one of the above links has a different scoreboard than the photo you posted. So I’m curious if they had displayed the score on Fouts around the same day when this photo was taken. Would they have somehow given updates of the game at the stadium and showed them on the scoreboard? Who knows, but that’s definitely an important game in UNT history that happened at the UT stadium in Tennessee, and not at Fouts!

  26. Overheard the UH broadcast tonight mention they have a player named Sasser. My memory immediately went back to 1999-2000 SMU when they had a Jeryl Sasser killing it in the WAC. 1999 POY. Some AP AA honors. One of the better players I remember watching from that era. IIRC, the conference tourney was in Vegas and I watched (in person) that SMU team and UTEP compete in the early rounds. I think he had a huge fro lol. So, Sasser - Sasser?, I had to look up a possible connection. Marcus Sasser of Houston has an uncle Jason Sasser who was the 1996 Southwest Conference Player of the Year and a 2017 inductee into the Southwest Conference Hall of Fame. ...Jeryl Sasser (of SMU) had an older brother named Jason. I think it's safe to say it is the same Jason Sasser that is mentioned in Marcus's biography. Probably no biggie to most people here, but man! that made me think about how long I've been following the game.

  29. Here is Brune’s assessment on Saturday (VIP Article) https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/Article/North-Texas-Mean-Green-football-Spring-scrimmage-notes-MVPs-163185593/ Gave offensive MVP to Aune, defensive MVP to Murphy Twins. Said Aune was in control of the offense, had a few overthrows, but also had some drops from Loronzo Thompson who was otherwise impressive from the slot. Won’t give away anymore since it’s VIP but similar takeaways to those on the board.

  36. She went to UT because she stated it was her dream job. I remember because Jones and her left about the same time. Both with the same reason for leaving. Could not blame either one, offers to coach at UT and LSU don't come often to NT head coaches.

  39. A four star quarterback and if we can get this four star wide receiver, in addition to our deep pool of really good wide receivers and we have a stable of excellent running backs, I think we should be sitting pretty again on offense. It appears that Coach Bennet has already had a big impact on our defense and it should only get better. I am beginning to feel better about our prospects in the fall. The entire athletic department seems to be running on all cylinders!! GO MEAN GREEN WIN GAMES!!!

  40. Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale has placed another exorbitant gamble on a Houston sports team. This time, it's $1 million on the Houston Cougars winning the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. The odds of the furniture owner's wager sat at 9-1 odds, meaning he would win $9 million if the hometown program can come through for him. He made the gamble with DraftKings, and the organization says that it's one of the largest March Madness bets on record. "Anything can happen in March Madness as we all know, but I'm ten toes down on Houston to bring the national title to Texas, and willing to stake a million dollars with DraftKings on that outcome," said McIngvale, per KPRC 2. read more: https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/mattress-mack-places-1-million-bet-on-houston-to-win-2021-ncaa-tournament/

  44. Villanova was only #18 and a #5 seed because they lost their PG and looked bad in the Conference Tourney. Then they got practice time and figured out how to play with out him. They are more realistically #10-12 and a #3 seed imo
