Coronavirus reporting is so heavily swayed by politics, it is very unreliable. For any positive slant, there has to be negatives released. Added to the political influences, now you have to be aware of the tremendous financial implications.3 points

I don’t walk away from this split happy. I know winning two on the road is tough, but we were the better team. I hate to be critical of one of our players, but why wasn’t McBride in at the end of the game over Murray? If not McBride, then run Abou and Zack in the paint with Bell, Reese and Hamlet outside. Hell, I would like to see Robinson. At least he has length and scoring ability.3 points

Talons does it. Or at least they have the key to the box. Back when I was in school, we didn't even have a key (supposedly it had been lost), but you could crack the box open and slip your hand in, if you knew how to do so. I turned it on many times.3 points

When we are at our best, we are the top team in the West, IMO, and can compete with WKU/Bassey. Even if we are not at "peak level", I think we are still among the top 4 teams in the league (WKU, UNT, LT, MARSH).2 points

If WKU wins the East we have to win the West. WKU and La Tech will be on the same side of bracket.2 points

The QB position is more crowded than they realized. https://meangreensports.com/sports/football/roster/will-kuehne/5092 Do these people ever do any background research before doing an article?2 points

Every so often something from natures comes out to get us. Maybe it is how it controls our population growth. The last great one was the Spanish Flu, killed 50 million people and there was no vaccine for it. It lasted about 1.5 years before we had herd immunity. You ether died from it or built an immunity to it. I am not saying we should not try to stop it but these things have happened and will continue to happen. We will not get out of this world alive. Part of the numbers are skewed in the since if I have stage 4 cancer and I get covid and died I died from Covid when my days on earth were limited by the cancer. That side I wash my hands and wear a mask in fact covid has helped my exercise program. I have increased my walking steps. I get out of my car walk to the door of where I am going, remember I forgot to put my mask on, go back to the car and back to the door. Take precautions but don't live in fear.2 points

I did. And we do not have any talent edge at guard against their #4. But for foul trouble, she would have pushed the lead out of reach. What I saw was a Marshall team that moved the ball well, cut to the bucket, and pushed tempo. They’re not some bunch of scrubs.2 points

I see them more as a middle-tier team in the West with a couple super star guards that get them 2-3 undeserved wins each year.2 points

An inferior team that also handed Rice their only conference loss, by 12, just prior to arriving in Denton2 points

Assistant coaches most important function, particularly not coordinators, is recruiting. I believe that playing careers have almost nothing to do with their success. The better known the recruiter, the more likely he may get an initial visit. However, the recruit still has to be sold based on the program. It is about salesmanship. It is about convincing players that NT is where they should play.2 points
-
This is now true. Had UAB won today they would’ve only needed a split next week to finish ahead of us, due to winning percentage.2 points
-
Very poor game by NT, they just got beat by a last place team in Denton. They got generally out hustled by an inferior team. Apparently, if Nobles can' t have a big scoring game, this team is in trouble.2 points

Commits to Syracuse. I would assume that with Sanders coming back for us we might have backed off his recruitment.2 points

I would also be concerned about a few other "tier 2" teams that have a player or firepower to steal a win early on. UTSA comes to mind. They don't have the depth to win the whole thing, but watch them early.1 point

Yup. La Tech is done at 12-4, since MTSU is the only series they missed and MTSU’s rescheduled series for next week is against FAU, not La Tech. Conference winning %s if we sweep UAB: 1. North Texas - .786 2. La Tech - .750 3. UAB - .611 Conference winning %s if we split with UAB: 1. La Tech - .750 2. North Texas - .714 3. UAB - .667 Conference winning %s if we get swept by UAB: 1. La Tech - .750 2. UAB - .722 3. North Texas - .6431 point

So you're implying the numbers themselves are untrustworthy then I suppose. If that's the case why were total deaths in the US up by so much? There has to be a reason. https://usafacts.org/articles/preliminary-us-death-statistics-more-deaths-in-2020-than-2019-coronavirus-age-flu/1 point

Never said they were a bunch of scrubs. I said I think NT had superior talent and I will stay with that. Also will re-state Marshall wanted it more.1 point

Hamlet rushed the shot but still had a clean look and Zach was close to the put back. The ball just didn’t fall our way. That’s basketball1 point

Getting one road win against a top 80 NET team was always going to be tough. Expecting two felt like being greedy.1 point

There's an old hunchback that lives up there. All kidding aside, they should eventually change the tower lighting to incredibly bright LEDs, and have a remotely operated timer that someone in the AD triggers after every victory. The new top of the Super Pit should also be covered with LEDs. That place is DARK, and there is no way of even knowing that an event is taking place.1 point

You’re stretching here, sir. No one is saying NFL experience is THE qualification. But when 2 aspiring coaches with the same hearts to teach the sport they love are being compared, as a D1 recruit, you’d likely be drawn to the one who did what you want to eventually do, right? Awasom isn’t an aspiring coach, so no, I wouldn’t hire him to coach anything. Also, DT had a training camp invite. Cobbs/Harrell/Filani were actually rostered players for multiple years. All 3 with coaching aspirations, not just dudes with NFL experience. Joseph’s resume is a little more polished than DT’s, so I wouldn’t take DT over him, no. Be honest, if you were looking to hire a DL coach & were provided recently-fired Coach Mathies’ resume: Coaching Experience2017-19 – Florida Atlantic (Assistant Coach/DL/Recruitng Coordinator)2016 – USF (Assistant Coach/DL/Recruiting Coordinator)2013-15 – USF (Assistant Coach/DL)2010-12 – Western Kentucky (Assistant Coach/DL/Recruiting Coordinator)2007 – Dallas Cowboys (NFL Fellowship Program Intern)2005-09 – Western Kentucky (Assistant Coach/DL)2003-04 – Tennessee State (Assistant Coach)1999-2002 – Midwestern (Texas) State (Assistant Coach) & Coach Passwaters’ resume: Coaching History2020: Hawai’i – Quality Control, Offense2017-19: New Mexico State – Graduate Assistant2016: New Mexico Highlands – Tight Ends2016: Point Loma High School – Offensive Line2013-15: Onate High School – Offensive Line2012: Gadsden High School – Assistant Coach Who would you choose? It’s a no-brainer, right? ...and Mathies needed to go!1 point

What will we have next year, we lose Zack, Hamlet, Reese and Bell and Murray. Why an eye roll, did I saw something that is not true? If Murray is the sixth man then we have nothing coming back next season .........-1 points

Exactly and yet we still hire a guy who has NEVER held a position whether offense or defense that recruits. Not talking about tweet some kid, actually walked through a coaches office or a kids living room. I'm not blowing air cuz I know someone, (perhaps Oscar Giles though), but there has to be somebody that's held down the position and recruited. Heck maybe reach out to the successful high schools in the area and take a recommendation. But likely in order to get Bennett we were required to take kinfolk. So lets just move on-1 points
