  1. I am hearing that a deal is done between UNT and former SMU head coach Phil Bennett to be come the new DC for North Texas. Bennett has had DC stops at Texas A &M , Baylor, TCU, Kansas State and LSU. Believe it is a huge grab for Seth with him bringing over 25 years of DC experience!

  2. I don't believe the sky is falling. Yes we have a lot of people leaving. But lets think about this for a second. Everyone is getting and extra year. There is going to be a back log on the roster. Some players have to leave to make room to being in more guys. Most guys that have left already had there degree.. but lets think about who has transferred so far.. Transfer so far Siggers RB - I love Siggers.. but lets be real. He was atleast 3rd on the depth chart. You have the young studs coming up Johnson, Ragsdale and the STUD Adaway. Also hearing Torrey is coming back. So he was looking at 4th on Depth Greg White and Kealon Jackson WR - This is obvious could be our deepest position. The guys saw the writing on the wall. Brian Parish T- He sat out this season and got passed. Also bringing in a transfer from OSU that is a beast while returning everyone of the best O-line we have had since 2013 Chris Thornton - Backup Bryce English- Forgot he was on the team Cam Johnson- We have brought in two transfer higher ranked then him. He saw the writing on the wall. Sanders- Gaddie and Morris already on the roster. Figure we will bring in at least one transfer. So long story short we are good. Also you don't see any movement on our side is because we are waiting on the DC hire to become official. And I like the idea. Let the chef do the grocery shopping. No excuses then. There is also alot of transfer rule we aren't aware of as fans. Some teams could be in some very big trouble come this fall in terms of transfer. SIDE NOTE the guy we had at Apogee today interviewing was a very big fish in my opinion. I have been hard on Seth this last month. But I will give him credit he is going all out on DC hire. He wants to win.. and he wants to win at North Texas. Exciting next few months ahead.

  3. Nobody understands the importance of this hire more than Seth. He is living it 24/7! To say he doesn’t care, isn’t trying hard enough or wants to be P5 OC is just stupid. It isn’t about the information he shares with us, it is about getting this hire right! Amazing how people trash somebody’s character when they don’t know Sh!t. GMG

  4. Nice. One last question... Not Kansas type BIG12 experience, right?

  5. Seems to be Smu was the only place he wasn't successful in 25 years of coaching. Interesting

  6. Now 5-0 in conference and 8-2 overall beating UTEP 67-59.

  7. Maybe it was a "demographics" issue

  8. We really should be more mature about this. It’s not SMU’s fault that we pay our coaching staff millions and they can’t compete with SMU’s roster that makes the same millions.

  9. Yes, I am sure SMU had no contact with him before he went to the portal. I don't wish Stiggers luck with this decision.

  10. I’ll admit, I have been very very critical of the program, but after seeing UNT basketball KICK ASS today I’m ready to be back on the positive train. Seth needs our support, and hopefully he makes the best hire. Seems like guys are interested here, now we have to win! Also, Denton Ryan won the state championship, and DB Ty Marsh won MVP!! He was committed to UH, and I hope NT offers him ASAP!!

  12. 25 points a game in the Big 12 is a hell of a lot better than the crap show we have had.if our defense had held teams an average of 25 points a game this year we would have probably won a 2-3 more games at least

  13. UTEP was not shooting the rock real well to night, so I’m not quite ready to pick out a place for the next banner yet. With that said, every trip down for them seemed to be a one-and-done because of how well we rebounded.

  14. Along these lines the connections thing also gives HS coaches too much credit in influencing their players decisions. Much more often than not it’s more important on convincing their parents than their HS coaches.

  16. My family is Legacy Baylor family - they LOVE Bennett. This is an amazing hire. Had an elite defense at Baylor in 2014 when they almost made it to the finals. I think this is a huge huge score and an amazing hire. I’ll bet he can score some transfers too hopefully.

  17. This is a hell of a hire, and one of the few people (at least as far as I know) that escaped the Baylor conundrum without any dirt on him. Good deal.

  19. Losing Siggers sucks. I don’t care where he was on the depth chart. He was just plain fun to watch. He was physical and punishing. The total opposite of the 7on7 namby pamby no big hitting football that is the trend. God bless him for that and good luck to him.

  20. Agree with everything except Siggers. The only RB we can legitimately make an argument is better is Adaway. Siggers looked like the Siggers of old at the end of the season and that’s a legit all-CUSA caliber guy. We can’t judge the situation on the current roster. What do we look like come August? That’s what matters.

  21. I still think we need to get some big time transfers to fill out our D line, but this is very promising.

  28. These awesome 2019, 2020, and 2021 classes are still almost fully intact. Excited to see what we look like as these guys start to make up the meat of the roster, not just the backend depth and redshirts.

  31. Hahahahaha this guy is one of those "P6" guys... if you're a power conference then why does going undefeated still not get you in the playoffs.

  32. I remember years years years ago @TheTastyGreek put together this incredible post about how we viewed our coaches (at the time, I think we were at the end of Dickey's tenure) and compared them to some all-timers like Hayden Fry. It was long, but the point was really interesting. The idea that, if we put our greats like Fry underneath the same critical lens that we constantly viewed our current coaches with, they wouldn't look so rosy. This situation with someone like Andrew always nitpicking McCasland, praising Benford, etc....this isn't really a perfect example. It's like you are in a completely different reality of basketball than the rest of us and like 75% of your views just don't align or make sense. I love your Mean Green enthusiasm, though. It's amazing to me that someone would be critical of McCasland. 1) Tasty's right, he has had questionable moments, but... 2) Grant is still going to go down as one of the best hires we have ever made. ...maybe some of you (or one of you) would be talking a different story if we had had an NCAA appearance to speak about right now. Because McCasland and Co. earned it.

  34. 25 points per game? Shhiiii... we’d go undefeated with that level of production lol

  35. Not sure why so many are downplaying the lost of Siggers. He was IMO the best running back on the NT team. He can and will be replaced, even perhaps with a better player; but his transfer will be a significant loss for the team.

  37. It is hard to win anything in EL Paso. This game was tougher than I thought, but the NT ladies prevailed. Tomorrow will be another battle. NT basically has only two threats on offense, Boyd and Noble. This will make it tougher to win 2 in 2 days.
