From head coach at WV, Mich, and AZ, to the OC at Monroe with the prospect of moving up to a HC job at MUTS or UTSA...I stand by my comment.4 points

Regardless of how/why and whose dime he's going to school on I'm glad he's here. He can't hurt our defense only make it better IMO.3 points

Congrats Lance! I was at that game in the rain when Lance went OFF! Final game of the season and he set all the records! mayby 5,000 in attendance and we should have shut them out, but let them score late in the 4th for a 59-7 victory! BTW, Lance's 313 yards at 7.8 ypc allowed UNT to cruise on a night when Derek Thompson went 2-7 for 23 yards through the air. I think my group that was in attendance didnt really know how to react to this game, because it had been sooo long since we blew out a division opponent.2 points

I will give credit to CBS on the G5 games they show their announcers don't seem to take the usual smartass swipes at the G5 you see on ESPN games2 points

Dude is a Baylor Grad and is an obvious homer for schools like SMU, so I agree, he is a clown. That being said, we still don't even have a DC so who's to say how much this will change by next season?2 points

I don't know where this worry comes from, except that I think they are gripping onto something that - if you think about it - makes no sense. Look at any other postseason tourney. The "lucky" team is called "cinderella" and makes for gripping stories. Expanding the tourney would bring in more viewership and more money. If you really think about it, you're only worried because you think it means your team will lose.2 points

Oh! I think you're onto something here Letsgiveacheer... There are 5 All-American lists that count towards naming players "Consensus" or "Unanimous" All-Americans: Sporting News, Walter Camp FF, American Football Coaches Assoc, Football Writers of America & the AP. According to the NCAA's standards for receiving "Consensus" status, players must show up on at least 3 of these lists. Jaelon shows up on all 5... HOWEVER, there are only 2 spots for Wide Receivers on the All-American teams, and both Devonta Smith & Elijah Moore show up as 1st Team on 4 out of 5 lists (Devante is 1st team on all 5 lists, obviously, and Jaelon is 1st team on the Football Writers of America list). So Devonta & Elijah get the nods for those 2 "Consensus" spots due to tiebreaker rules (Elijah 4 1st team nods & Jaelon 1 1st Team nod). However, Jaelon's selection as 1st team by FWAA kept Elijah Moore from getting the coveted "Unanimous" distinction. Unless there's something I'm missing, I believe you're correct. Jaelon is NOT a "Consensus" All-American, despite showing up on all 5 lists.2 points

I wanted to puke this morning listening to Reese Davis and others on ESPN where he (an Alabama alum) was talking about how he liked the playoffs with 4 teams and how much he respected the "committee". He was worried if they expanded to let moren teams in and all P5 conference champions what worried him was that what if a team got "lucky" in the conference championship and wasn't really the top team in that conference. Freaking homer. Time for the top 30-40 programs to spin off and form their own 'professional" college football league2 points

How about promote Ekeler and just move on? We need someone to coach LBs and he damned sure can do that. He would likely show more 4-man fronts. He is an experienced coach and was fairly successful here. (Not advocating this just an idea since we want this settled soon.) Then bring in Marcus Trice as ST coach.2 points

Yep. They’re like Texas in that fans and donors expect the ghosts of accomplishments past to somehow propel them to current dominance...forgetting that the rest of the world has changed since Nixon was in office2 points

honestly, this intrigues me. his WVU offenses were some of my favorite CFB teams to watch.2 points

It’s bad enough for us to get our a**es handed to during the season, but for it to happen in the off season is almost too much to bear.2 points

Well anyone has to think long and hard about talking the DC job. You are taking over one of the worse defenses in the country. Your HC is in a win or else part of his contract. The longer it takes to find the right guy the harder it will become to find that guy.2 points

I'm lost as to who Hall is. The only Hall that I know that used to coach under Fuente is now the head coach at Southern Miss. We have no Hall on our staff that I can find. I'd be OK with Ekeler if push came to shove. He was CoDC when he was here last and at least he puts fire in the belly of his players and maybe he'd have done better if he'd had it alone. But, this is a make or break year for Seth and he needs complete confidence in his hire.1 point

More Speculation: I heard from a friend who heard from a friend that Seth is working on another short yardage running play right up the middle after the running plays on third and fourth down fail. He is being proactive if a fifth down is ever implemented.1 point

Truth is... none of us have any idea what is going on and all the doom and gloom is pure speculation.1 point

Not sure who is trying to defend him, few if any. Next year is going to be played and Littrell is going to be the coach. Therefore, I hope Littrell turns it around and has an unexpectedly good season. NT plays in CUSA not the SEC. Predictions mean next to nothing in this league and next year because of the coronavirus, even less. NT's offense will be fine, the question is can the defense approach mediocre. The one positive is IMO, the defense can't be worse.1 point

Watch... he is going to end up promoting someone on the current staff because he can’t find anyone.1 point

Seconded. But his Michigan and Arizona teams were absolute dumpster fires so there's that.1 point

I think the price for a quality coordinator goes up every day, we're battling in a market with some more prominent openings and we lost leverage the day it was announced that Bowen wouldn't be back. The better play would have been what Texas did, stay with your guy until you find the guy to replace them. (Hard to know for sure but the earliest SL probably thought about making a change was before the bowl game and the latest the week after) From ESPN Article: Del Conte said the three administrators served as the search committee and that in one of their earliest discussions, Eltife said, "How about that boy Sark?" Both Del Conte and Hartzell followed by saying he was high on their list, too. "Probably the first time I sat there, walked out of that meeting going, 'Holy cow,'" Del Conte said. "We actually agree. We had our guy." No one knew those three were meeting to replace Herman (his job was proclaimed safe) and when negotiating with Sark's folks had the leverage to say: "Look, we like you, we think you'd be an upgrade here, but here's what we're going to pay you, if you don't like it then we'll stick with our guy." - Basically, we don't need a coach but we've got a job for you if you want it, here are the terms. There's no doubt that if they fired Herman before identifying and coming to terms with a replacement then the market and negotiating power would have shifted away from Texas to the candidate, and the market would also adjust with "potential candidates" signing lucrative extensions, all the while driving up the cost of the hire to Texas. Our position now is moving from, we need a coach and it's a great opportunity with nowhere to go but up, to we desperately need a coach and it's good opportunity for you to advance your career. When you don't have Power 5 resources ($$), the economics, leverage, negotiating, timing, etc. matter even more!1 point

Don't retire numbers, just start adding names to the "wall of honor." By the way, it is Haynes not Hayes.1 point

oh what could have been if RV would not have hamstrung TD the first year by not allowing him to keep any staff holdovers. Good for both of them going back and being successful. Should be interesting game.1 point

HOF? Absolutely. Fast track him. Retire #1? I think there is a better option.... Here is an idea. We could place a higher standard on issuing the #1 jersey to a player. Don't just let players claim it. Only award the jersey to the top WR on our roster, when the consensus of the coaches agree the WR has achieved the same level of work ethic, leadership, and success that Darden exhibited. This means the #1 jersey may not be issued every season, but when it is, it will go to a very special "team captain". It could be a good recruiting tool too. At some point, if the list of WR's that wear #1 were to grow even more distinguished, than maybe a space on the wall at field level can feature the #1 and list the names of those that were awarded the jersey. Just a thought.1 point

I understand what you are saying, and am excited to have him as part of our program, but I am not terribly swayed by workout videos. There are too many "workout warriors" out there that can't play a lick. Heck, I still workout every day. You don't want to see me out there.1 point

Add to that 3 years at a Top 25 Power 5 program gaining knowledge and maturity. If you check out his Twitter there are some videos from workouts that look impressive.1 point

Bring him back in 5 years (along with Mason) to put their names on the wall in the south end zone1 point

Welcome aboard Carson. Found this tidbit in an SI article: "Linebacker Carson Kropp, who helped Owasso win a Class 6A State Championship in high school is a legacy Cowboys, who has a grandfather that is retired but was a longtime OSU professor. Kropp is on scholarship now."1 point

He’s a 6’2 235lbs RS sophomore with this year not counting against eligibility. I like it! Anyone know if/when the NCAA transfer waiver will go into effect allowing him to play next year?1 point
