That is not an excuse! UTSA brought in an entire new coaching staff, offensive scheme and switched to a 3-4 defense. No spring ball and limited fall practice. They looked much better than us.7 points

2017: FAU 69, UNT 31, CCG: FAU 41 UNT 17, Bowl: Troy 50 UNT 30 2018: Bowl: Utah State 52 UNT 13 2019: Two 20+ point losses to Houston and SMU. 2020: SMU 65-35, UTSA curb stomping us before half, likely to be a blowout barring a miracle. We don't just lose every big game, we get our asses handed to us.5 points

You can only work with the talent you have, or in this case inherited. The bottom line is that our 2020 defense preforms just like last year's, which to me is not a coaching issue but a reflection on poor recruiting. In golf its call LOFT. Lack of f.....g talent.5 points

USM- Scotty Walden beat us 41-31 Charlotte- Will Healy beat us 49-21 UTSA- Jeff Traylor beat 49-17 (and Traylor didn't even have a DC. Nix has been suspended for a few weeks now) Littrell has lost to every first year coach he has faced this season.5 points

Welcome to being a fan of UNT Football. 14 years of heartbreak for me, yet I still talk myself into renewing season tickets every year.4 points

To me, smut and nutsac are our biggest rivals, but for different reasons. Smut, because they have always lobbied against us, and nutsac because, well, they're nutsac! A school with no history, yet they're in cusa with us after we scratched and crawled our way in after smut and others of note, left. They've never paid their dues.4 points

Their halftime show on video was so bad. Sounded awful with the speakers, and it probably is terrible in real life. Maybe a top 300 band in NCAA lol.4 points

Not hiring an OC was a huge mistake, as was hiring Wallis to coach QBs and then not replacing him immediately.4 points

I was not a fan of the hire but I don't think a 4th defensive lineman would magically make us better. We almost always have an edge player on the LOS anyways he's just not in a 3 point stance. I know no one wants to hear this, but almost 2/3rds of the roster is made up of redshirt sophomores or younger. Only 23 scholarships between the junior and senior classes. We should be competing for conference championships next year and beyond, no excuses.4 points

After reading these last two posts, I guess we kicked UTSA’s ass at music today, so we got that going for us...4 points

If you’re not following recruiting, this all looks and sounds like a broken record. I get it. if you are, and you see the change in talent that’s emerging, and you don’t care, then you’ve probably made up your mind and won’t be convinced anyways.4 points

It’s not just Seth. He is bearing the weight of a long-time NT curse lol. There is a lot of evidence that the new talent will start turning this around next year.4 points

The pure ignorance by some on here is beyond insane. We NEED a rival like uTsA. We clearly can’t hang it with SMU but once every few years. Our games with utsa are almost always close, and it’s an even series. The players both hate each other, and it’s time to realize that we HAVE to accept them. And for La Tech, we have beaten them twice in 7 years. That isn’t a rival. Y’all are so difficult to talk to sometimes. Jeez3 points

Definitely need a second set of eyes evaluating the offense even if Seth calls the plays. We also need a QB coach.3 points

We made a pretty mediocre offense look good. I think they doubled their scoring average.3 points

Tentative start did NT in. This game will do NT good, like last years away oc schedule Hamlet just disappeared, probably the focus of Ark defense. Arkansas played good 3 defense, but NT passed up a lot of 3 shots. Seems to me the best plan against such a physical team. Zack was NT's mvp, maybe this game will give him confidence to dominate in CUSA. McCasland again made me wonder about his substitution pattern. I guess Jackson matched up better against their small quick guards, but I rather have a shooter in there. I do think Jones will be really good. Wise must be a much better player than he has been able to show on the court in very limited games. McCasland slow play obviously works, but it is very ineffective when NT gets behind double digits. At least this game, gave some relief from the UTSA football disaster. NT basketball played hard against a good team versus a football team which just lost in an historically awful fashion.3 points

You guys were just praising his defense last week, now he needs to be fired? Lol it’s the players not the coach . But I get a normal fan wouldn’t get that.3 points

I WANT to believe. I truly do. This is my team through the good and (mostly) bad years. My liver wants to believe. But we are still a broken record of a team. We are the Canon D minor of football teams, everytime we think we have a new spin on it, it's just Pachelbel all over again. Will gladly eat crow next year if I'm wrong. And I want to be wrong.3 points

that is why no other conferences will court us............2 points

Maybe Mumbles is calling the right plays but we need to hire an interpreter to translate what he calls.2 points

First, I need to apologize for not using the Vito power again like last week, and failing to post how crappy Bowen is early in the game. It worked very well last week. Second, Aune should see mop up snaps only. Bean is our quarterback until Gilmore, Kuehne, or the 2021 recruit take it from him. Aune is not the answer, he has shown why he couldn’t stick at a terrible Razorback program.2 points

What happened to all the comments about the best defense in 15 years, Novil getting drafted, and how much better Bowen is than Reff was? You guys have been very wishy washy this season. Fire Seth when he is doing bad, don’t fire Seth when he is doing good. He shouldn’t be fired in a Covid season. The defense looked bad, the offense made too many critical mistakes and Aune made it worse because he doesn’t have the game breaking ability of Bean. The LaTech game will be more competitive, you will see. This is very weird season, Covid scratches, we coach disaster, 4 cancelled or postponed games. Chalk this year up to what it is, a miserable, unforgettable, experience that we hope to never repeat.2 points

Kason Martin is not the answer. He’s done with football, he’s going to marry his volleyball fiancé and move in with this life. Bean can’t throw, his first instinct is to run because he’s scared of getting hit, Aune has horrible fundamentals, turnover prone, and nearing 30.2 points

Again, we beat them last year by 42 points and we would have lost by 39 if it weren’t for the last garbage TD. That’s amazing...what a disaster.2 points

Technically, UTSA doesn't have a DC right now. Nix is on suspension while the university investigates him. So, Bowen's defense got upstaged by a team with no defensive leadership. And, Littrell couldn't play call or coach against a defense who's first year DC hasn't even been there for weeks to help his players learn their new system. Let that sink in.2 points

I think there are two things at play here: 1) Y'all are not giving UTSA enough credit. They've beaten every team in the West except UAB, and lost by 7 to a T15 team (BYU). 2) we played like dog shit today. Just not a good day for us.2 points

I saw the Frank Wilson hire and what they did in his year 1, then watched the following 3 seasons unfold. I think we are trying to read too much into 1st year coaching results/comparisons.2 points

Oh boy, that’s not how coaching works. Would love to see you install your defense with no spring or fall camp and a month off between games. This is just going to be a cluster this yr. Seeing effort is the most important thing. Assignments a lot harder to implement.2 points

Hint...one of those teams listed is not a big game opponent for us, no matter how much they disagree... That said, your point remains. He sucks without the Graham Harrell/Mason Fine combo, even if we pay him like he should be.2 points

One other thing that 23 is tall but he’s a sting bean - put some body into his ass already! Play physical against him for goodness sakes.2 points

Playing very nervous. Simmons at last took some good shots. Don't play against a lot of 7'3" centers. Although, the announcers proclaim early that Arkansas is the best team, guess NT should just forfeit. Contest which school has the most homer broadcasters UTSA or Arkansas. Makes me appreciate the NT announcer teams.2 points
