This is the game I've been waiting for all season. LT has been the most consistent program in C-USA since joining the conference with us in 2013. The Bulldogs have won 6 straight bowl games, against the likes of Miami, Illinois, SMU, and Navy. And, they have done it all with a fraction of our budget. Littrell is currently 1-3 versus the LA Tech program. They ended our incredible 4-0 start in 2018, on the same day we unveiled the Mean Joe Greene sculpture at Apogee. I do not like them.... In my opinion this is a game we must win, and it is a conference series we must begin to dominate if we are going to elevate our program. I cannot wait for Saturday.12 points

Yes, I wear very green glasses ...... but how the hell can this guy get drafted and Mason could not even get a practice team job? I guess being over 6' is more important than actually being good.6 points

This is the thing about testing - a person with a negative test doesn't mean they don't have COVID. It could mean there isn't enough viral load on that day to register a positive result. It takes a few days after exposure to register a positive result. This is something that is easily misunderstood... and why contact tracing and strict quarantine is important.5 points

La Tech is a program I have great respect for. As Side Show mentioned, all they seem to do us win. No matter the coach, no matter their facilities and no matter their location they know how to win. I’m proud we are in the same conference. Having said that, I hope we are able to demonstrate what top facilities, a well paid coach, and a great location can do. Just win GO MEAN GREEN4 points

Well my expectations are at the bare minimum, which means I hope we score a TD and make them punt at least once and that’s all. Right now, I’m going to games for tailgates, talking to friends, and trying to watch the football on display... Now I hope we can pull off a win, but I just don’t see it mainly after 2 weeks off. Hope I’m wrong...4 points

With every player getting an extra year of eligibility and with players allowed to transfer once between D1 schools without needing to sit out a year on the horizon, recruiting for the upcoming classes is set to change dramatically. We need to plan accordingly. As of now it sounds like the NCAA will allow seniors next season (who are currently seniors now as well) to not need to count towards the 85 scholarship limit at the FBS level, however, there do NOT seem to be impending changes to the 25 scholarship per class limit. As a G5 school, we need to be very judicious with our scholarships. If P5 schools want to take this opportunity to poach the best G5 and FCS players, that takes spots in their class up that they normally use on the top HS and JUCO recruits. That means guys who normally would sign with P5 schools are going to be available to us. We need to be in position to nab those guys, which means not taking commitments early in the process from marginal recruits. Similarly, if P5 schools pilfer the Deonte Simpsons and KD Davis’ of our roster more frequently, we need to have spots available to sign the P5 transfers who are looking for more playing time. Next season teams are allowed 85 scholarship players (the max) on players who are not seniors. This means that unless the NCAA expands the scholarship limit in 2022, teams are going to have very little room to add 2022 recruits. I think we’ll see the NCAA add spots to not completely screw over the kids of the 2022 class, but if they don’t, that will mean even more recruits who normally would sign P5 being left out of those classes and available to us. The recruiting numbers game is changing dramatically, in some ways temporarily (hopefully) and in some ways permanently. We need to plan for these possibilities and the best step to take now is to not take any commitments from guys whose caliber you could get at any point. Hoping the NCAA figures out the best solutions for everyone, but either current players or current recruits are likely going to get squeezed one way or another.3 points

This year, we have seen two more FBS newbies with relatively new programs get ranked. Coastal Carolina at 13 and now, next year's OOC home opponent, Liberty, who is now ranked 25th. I've lost count to how many teams have started at the FBS level since 1995 like we did and have managed to build a ranked program during that time frame. SO freaking depressing....3 points

I was among the fortunate to attend games at the old Men's Gym in the latter 60's. It was a tough place to play and fantastic for fans. We would go into a stomp clap on those wooden bleachers and chant "Welcome to the Pit, Welcome to the Pit, Welcome..." The sound was incredible. Dan Spika played a full-court press the entire game and teams would get rattled by the deafening sound. In 1868-69, we were undefeated at home in the MVC, which was equivalent to the ACC of today. We lost every MVC road game, yet those defeats indicate the home court advantage that we had. 1968-69 was the most exciting year of basketball that I ever experienced and I had experienced SMU's 1965-66 team that beat Wes Unseld and Louisville. That team was second best in excitement during the 1960s. There was nothing like the pit and Dan Spika. Unfortunately, UNT's new digs never matched the excitement of the old Men's Gym. Later on, I moved to Louisville and experienced Denny Crum's cards from 1972-1986. I have indeed been to basketball Nirvana.2 points

Yes I’ll take it but I doubt anyone besides the hardcore MG fans would be watching this game. I mean you can’t even get exposure at the square in Denton to find a place with the game on.2 points

This game will depend on who shows up....for both teams. LaTech lost to UTSA but beat UAB.....They seem to look like alot of football programs right now. Who knows which team will show up....2 points

247 shows him as 6'1" and 190 lbs. If he can put on about 30 lbs. with the speed that he has he has a chance to become a real asset. I'd leave him at LB until he proves that he can't do it. His film as a Jr. shows primarily offense but the few defense plays that were on film shows that he hits with authority.2 points

Despite El Paso's current Covid 19 pandemic spike, with overwhelmed county hospitals unable to accept injured players, UTEP refused to consider relocating Saturday's game to an alternate location. El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego has proclaimed a county wide lockdown and that UTEP would not be able to host the game because athletic and entertainment events are not categorized as essential businesses. Simply put, the Sun Bowl in El Paso would not be able to host the North Texas - UTEP football game. Not being able to play a game at a specified site is not a new situation for this football series. UTEP, then called Texas Western, was scheduled to be the first guest team at North Texas' opening of their new Eagle Stadium on September 20, 1952. North Texas couldn't host the game at the new stadium because the new field's natural turf was not ready due to a recent heat wave, and requested the game be moved to the older but smaller stadium on campus, to a different metroplex location, or postponed to a date later that season. UTEP wouldn't consider postponement, insisted that the game be moved to El Paso's Kidd Field, and finally compromised with the game being played at a midway neutral site in Odessa, Texas. Now, though no fault of their own, UTEP cannot host the current game in this series. Shouldn't UTEP have to play by the same rules that they themselves created, to only play at the opponents stadium or at a neutral site. And if they decide not to, UTEP should be forced to forfeit the game. https://kvia.com/coronavirus/2020/10/29/el-paso-county-judge-considers-more-restrictions-possible-shutdown-due-to-virus-surge/1 point

The problem with the officials is their mindset. They don't want to make a call because they don't want to effect the game. It is hard to explain to them that by NOT making the call, you are changing the game anyway. They don't want to call holding unless it is at the point of attack. Anyone who has coached at a high level can tell you that as an official, you do not know who is responsible in the scheme for each gap or player. If will not call holding unless it is in front of the ball, you are in fact changing the outcome of the game. If a player cannot get to his responsibility, he may never get in front of the ball to be seen. I officiated high school football for 10 years. I've been told by senior members not to call anything the first play of the game. I've seen a Big 12 Backjudge tell us at a clinic not to call unsportsmanlike conduct early in the game. I had an official tell me that he didn't call holding because the linebacker made the tackle anyway (yes, but for a 5 yard gain instead of a 1 yard loss). Look at the female official from our conference that went pro. She refuses to call anything and they think she is great. Replay has only made the problem worse. Now they figure if they don't call it, replay will fix it. It is a mindset.... and a poor one.1 point

Bryce's efficiency is off the charts. I haven't done the exact TD/yard math, but it's not difficult to see he doesn't have to work the length of the whole field. What is the state season scoring record? Not just passing TDs...but overall points? Is he on pace for something like that?1 point

https://247sports.com/Player/EJ-Ndoma-Ogar-88233/#evaluation Speaking of being pickier, I ran across an offensive lineman that is currently at OU and opted for the transfer portal just a few days ago. He is projected to be a fourth to seventh round draft pick by 247. He was a 2019 recruit so he'd have (I think) four years of eligibility left. He was a four-star recruit and a high school all-american. He is from Allen. He has supposedly had good coaching and I believe that Coach Bloesch would be an asset for him. Just a thought.1 point

Mason would be a corpse with that Cowboys Oline. I would love to see him on the field, but I don’t see him holding up. A bad CUSA Oline is not even comparable to a bad NFL Oline lol1 point

NO, neither should forfeit. This should have been worked out through the commissioner and rework a new schedule date. The worst part, if I understand correctly, is that the game was to be on CBS nationally and the conference needs all of the exposure that it can get. We would've been the sixth and seventh teams from CUSA to appear on TV Saturday. Western Kentucky vs. BYU was on ESPN. UAB vs. Louisiana Tech and UTSA vs. Florida Atlantic were on Fox Southwest.1 point

He had to streak to get a 3 yard pass? Sounds like he needs to rework his contract.1 point

Agreed and I don’t think this was the original intent of instant replay. The intent was to do away with obvious blown calls. The worst are the “was it a catch” reviews. Okie St. got ripped today in my opinion. The had picked up a first down late in the 4th qtr. on a great “catch” that the replay booth determined was actually not a catch. I say this and (prepares for the flaming) I was rooting for Texas.1 point
-
The referees have been bad almost universally forever as judged by the losing team. Now you have commentators and instant replay over analyzing every close call. I doubt the quality of referees has done anything but improve over the years, just because nearly every call is so scrutinized. So the bad ones are weeded out. Frankly, calls are done in microseconds than analysed by slo-motion replay for minutes. A lot of overturned calls just could not have been seen in game time.1 point

Hell no! I am always torn because I have been a Hogs’ fan all my life. My Dad earned a scholarship to Arkansas way back when and my entire family is from Arkansas. I was the first Texan after my Dad took a job at then NTSU, so Arkansas has been my #2 team forever. My reference to “owing you all one” was last year’s basketball game where I feel we hadn’t come together yet with so many new faces. Although Arkansas had a strong team, we didn’t play well. I expect a much closer game this year and am looking for a win. Regarding the football game, not one of my relatives has said anything to me in regards to the football game. Seems very rude. 😂1 point

Just wait until FIU doesn't travel to EP next week. UTEP is going to freak out. There might not be enough dates for them to reschedule in December. It's not their fault, nor ours, nor FIU's fault if that occurs. Hell, a couple infections out there and UTSA game could be a no go. No reason to get worked up. The season is just messed up by 2020 karma.1 point
