  5. They still have McCaw at AD who oversaw the Briles era at Baylor and Hugh Freeze as the HC when he isn't out courting prostitutes.

  6. Well, I can't see one reason why people wouldn't want liberty in their conference. I certainly know why some people don't want liberty University. But can the same be said for SMU, Baylor ETC. When has money in college football been a negative. Every time I watch UT play, especially against UNT, then NTSU in 1988, we all know or should have known that UT was paying the refs full mortgage IE paying off their houses. With the absolutely ridiculous inbound reception to Keith Cash three yards out of bounds in the end zone at War Memorial stadium. I really don't understand the SMU reference, unless you mean that liberty is paying their players. The governor of Texas at the time was contributing to SMU athletics. I don't want to even get into how the son of one of the Pony Express got the pirate fired at Texas Tech, I digress. But, talent always prevails even if it takes years. The pirate's now that Mississippi State. I bet the pirate hates being in the SEC!!! I certainly don't think Liberty University has to pay their players to come play good football, or participate in other sports. Liberty University just probably provides a great college degree. You might not agree with the degree that the students at that college are going to get. But, once again that's their personal choice and their personal decision. That they believe will benefit their lives. Just because liberty spends a lot of money because they have it, if spent the right way doesn't mean that won't buy you quality, professional services. So their athletic department is loaded. That buys good facilities, good coaching, and they can go out and recruit. Then put a quality product on the field. The way UNT looks this year you'd really have to be drinking green Kool-Aid not to think that Liberty is way better than UNT. Regardless of how young their program is. From a business standpoint C-USA should offer liberty tomorrow. I think C-USA would be lucky to get Liberty University.

  7. I guess I am the one that made the comment. I lived there for 18 years so I stick by my comment and El Paso is a great place to be from. Lived in Euless for awhile no feelings bad or good for it. Now I live in Denton, the only problem is growing and the roads cant handled the traffic and more crime is starting to show it ugly head. There is no perfect place but home is where you make it. Sorry if I offended anyone. However, the comment about Lubbock still stands! I think the UTEP game maybe cancelled , El Paso is having a big outbreak of COVID right now so we shall see

  8. FIU is just an overall embarrassment to CUSA. They hardly do anything sports wise except in beach volleyball and swimming and diving...

  10. But the comment above flies in the face of your first comment unless you mean this to be about everywhere except Midland/Odessa. Look, I scored the trifecta by living in Euless years ago, now living in Midland and working in Odessa. The beauty out here is the morning and evening skies when they aren't filled with dust. What I do like about this area is that I am three/four hours from the mountains of New Mexico, Big Bend or the Hill Country. I was just yanking your chain with my comment about "eulessismore", but I did find it comical that you were critical of somewhere else when your screen name's nickname is Useless.

  11. Simpson made key plays last season after jumping into the fray in UNT's fourth game. The experience he gained is helping him thrive this fall, when UNT has again lost a key receiver, this time Jyaire Shorter.

  12. Hey, my wife owned a house here when we got married. Then, the first time I took her out to Far West Texas (to the town of Marfa, home of the coolest summer mornings in Texas, she let me know she did not want to live in the desert. I was ok with that; one thing I enjoyed about Denton was the oak woodlands of the Cross Timbers region, especially compared to the generally treeless plains surrounding the Wichita Falls area where I grew up. However, I've always enjoyed being in places of scenic beauty, but never felt like I had to live next to a National Park to enjoy them. I'd love to live someplace like Estes Park, but wouldn't love mandatory evacuations such as residents there have experienced. And I will still tell anyone that there's beauty to be found all around you, if you'll just give it a chance. And I have nothing against anyone loving where they live; I just think some are too dismissive of places like El Paso, as I myself have been in the past. And I really love my folks in Wichita Falls, and wish I could be with them more often, it's just tough these days. I'd suggest that before anyone reacts too harshly to perceived criticism of their home or favorite places, they might consider that Mac Davis' hit "Lubbock in a Rear View Mirror" was seen by many as a putdown of that place he so loved, unless they listened to the lyrics all the way through, and realized it was a love song to a place he came to miss.

  13. Yeah, most people don't know about the old Memphis curse. We never could beat them until Hayden Fry came along. AND that includes the times that Joe Greene, Steve Ramsey, Ronnie Shanklin, Cedric Hardman, Barry Moore, Leo Taylor (our first 1K rusher), and Glenn Holloway were on the same teams.

  15. Yeah, their role was much more of a traditional JACK linebacker than a defensive end. They can call it whatever they want as long as the pressure keeps coming.

  16. If I'm going to Big Bend National Park or some other part of the Texas Transpecos region, which I like to do every few years, I'll fly in to El Paso and get a rent car and drive back from there, rather than face the rather depressing aspect of seeing the Midland Odessa area. I mean, just because we haven't won a football game the old West Texas town since maybe 45 years ago doesn't mean that El Paso has nothing to offer. Of course, defenders of Midland and Odessa, fire away. Nothing against those places, they're just not for me. I did take an east coaster to the Big Bend area (folks from all over the world vacation there), and they complained about the relative tedium of El Paso compared to Big Bend itself. I then described what the drive would be like traveling by way of those Permian Basin cities, and their demeanor immediately brightened, with eyes lifted to the hills.

  17. But a 1pm start gives you three extra hours. I would suggest pacing yourself.

  18. I was at that game and in high school at the time. The game put NTSU on the map for me and off I went. Most everyone else goes to Texas Tech, I could not do the Lubbock thing.

  23. In just their 3rd season as an FBS program, Liberty is setting at 5-0 on the season with wins over Syracuse, WKU, and FIU. But, Littrell needs a few more season to develop our young players.....

  24. Well I guess the C-USA didn't want to be lucky considering they denied them even though they are good in most sports.

  25. Understood, but ethics and college football parted ways long ago, unfortunately. If this mattered, schools would not be agreeing to play them.

  26. They should probably also be a legitimate university as well.

  27. Well they have a law school and D.O. medical school like UNT. Please define "legitimate". Trump University?
