Yeah, their role was much more of a traditional JACK linebacker than a defensive end. They can call it whatever they want as long as the pressure keeps coming.5 points

Mtsu Guards looked weak on the inside with Novil. Brought a lot of pressure. I forgot which Murphy twin had the awesome sack, but I am so impressed with them. Can’t wait to see them fully developed4 points

Is that why we were getting pressure last game? Dline looked the best I’ve seen in a long while.3 points

Saw this on the Old SWC Roundup. Anyone on here remember this game? https://swcroundup.com/news/2020/10/22/that-one-time-david-morris-pulled-a-north-texas-victory-from-the-jaws-of-defeat2 points

Exactly. The Davis’, Kevin Wood, Nixon, and Howell are all 6’ or less which makes them more suited in the second level in more of a 3-3-5 stack look, which has made life very easy on opposing o-lines. Having some added length and strength off the edge was a huge plus, and the Murphy twins and Johnson are the guys on our roster suited to give us that.2 points

Wouldn't you like to know? I do work from home a good bit but never on any video calls. It's slightly paranoid but I don't want to give IT any chance at seeing me in a robe or my girlfriend changing in the background or whatever.2 points

And we've missed it in some of these intervening weeks while we had a lot of LB out. This is what I was talking about before when looking at our depth charts and what we were putting on the field defensively. We just didn't have enough guys like these in our lineup. I think a lot of our more experienced guys are better suited for hybrid linebacker/safety roles, but we really had no one to fill out the JACK spot. If we hit on some of our recruiting, I think we have a lot of guys coming up who can fill that role. It depends on how they fill out, but Jacobi "Nightmare" Johnson, for instance, seems a perfect fit for that spot. If we end up with some 230+ lbers in the middle and strongside, I think we can actually run this defense really well. Another thing along our defensive line is we're starting/playing Ta'Shoyn Johnson a lot. That's a true freshman playing strongside end in a 3-man front. It's a tough task this year, and he's got a lot of work to do, but I think it will be good in the long run. He's a former Nose, so I could see him developing into that spot or at least becoming a versatile cog down the line. He's just been thrown in the fire and having to learn as he goes.2 points

I know this is very old, but I forgot to say the answer i got when I asked around (In September) "He needed an opportunity to go play. was gonna be hard to get playing time behind Zach Terrance Miah and even Abou, so this was his last chance to be able to play JUCO."2 points

Hey, my wife owned a house here when we got married. Then, the first time I took her out to Far West Texas (to the town of Marfa, home of the coolest summer mornings in Texas, she let me know she did not want to live in the desert. I was ok with that; one thing I enjoyed about Denton was the oak woodlands of the Cross Timbers region, especially compared to the generally treeless plains surrounding the Wichita Falls area where I grew up. However, I've always enjoyed being in places of scenic beauty, but never felt like I had to live next to a National Park to enjoy them. I'd love to live someplace like Estes Park, but wouldn't love mandatory evacuations such as residents there have experienced. And I will still tell anyone that there's beauty to be found all around you, if you'll just give it a chance. And I have nothing against anyone loving where they live; I just think some are too dismissive of places like El Paso, as I myself have been in the past. And I really love my folks in Wichita Falls, and wish I could be with them more often, it's just tough these days. I'd suggest that before anyone reacts too harshly to perceived criticism of their home or favorite places, they might consider that Mac Davis' hit "Lubbock in a Rear View Mirror" was seen by many as a putdown of that place he so loved, unless they listened to the lyrics all the way through, and realized it was a love song to a place he came to miss.1 point

Yeah, most people don't know about the old Memphis curse. We never could beat them until Hayden Fry came along. AND that includes the times that Joe Greene, Steve Ramsey, Ronnie Shanklin, Cedric Hardman, Barry Moore, Leo Taylor (our first 1K rusher), and Glenn Holloway were on the same teams.1 point

And these two are big physical nasty mentality athletes. Reff valued speed and ignored physical plan in my opinion. That said the juco infusion on the edges has been a big time bust. Bring back Josh Wheeler.1 point

Everyone’s eligibility is frozen until next season so there is no redshirting this season.1 point

I would prefer if the one-time was after a players Sophomore year. Not that I have evidence, but I believe the "threat" of young players transferring out is causing a lot of players who should be red-shirting to play. If a coach doesn't feel he is ready and the player, or his parents disagrees this will make it easy for them to walk away. On the other hand, there might be a lot of P5 players available who have not been able to crack lineups, or been replaced by a younger, higher rated player.1 point

With the depth issues we have had, I am glad she can help. Get your tickets now. The girls are going to be good.1 point

Frankly, I wish that they would move Lyles back to wide receiver; especially if we are able to land Gumm. He might be good enough to start as a freshman. Then with Alberding, Roberts and Lee that might become the most solid two deep position on our team. Lyles is just too talented to get mired in a position where he would seldom see the field. I'm not sure that he could start right away as a receiver but he should certainly be in the two deep.1 point

Let this be an important lesson to everyone: there is no need for video calling. My work laptop has a blacked out post-it note over the camera for this very reason.1 point

My point is transfers have been happening for decades. Troy Aikman didn’t need the transfer portal to transfer 35 years ago. I get being upset at transferring, but I feel like there is some sort of misconception about the transfer portal that seems to cause it to take on blame for transfers when it’s just a listing of the players transferring.1 point
