Competition brings out the best with some players. Some players don't like competition. It can't be a homesick thing, he's from Garland. Good luck at your next school.5 points

This Team Aune, Team Bean deal is some strange stuff. People seem to literally have been rooting against QBs on the actual team they’re supposedly rooting for.5 points

High School talent anyway...remains to be seen if he can make the transition to college ball. Has to take care of business on and off the field in college and no one is all over him telling him how great he is every second. It's a transition. Some "talents" can make that transition, some can't. No idea why this kid is leaving after not even giving it a real go at UNT. I do wish him well and hope he finds a place where he can play and mature into a great college player. Next up!4 points

Thank you @greenminer and @BillySee58. I ran through this in a post a week or so ago. Littrell caught lightening in a bottle with the first class finding Fine, Bussey, Guyton, etc... but overall the first few classes reflected the lack of relationships UNT had with state HS coaches. SL and staff spent the first couple of seasons building those relationships and changing the perception of North Texas and started signing better classes each year, this year included although it is yet to be signed. The hitch in this is that the majority of our talent right now are sophomores and freshmen and they have to grow up a little. I also wholeheartedly disagree that SL has checked out. I don't think losing out on the KSU job caused that, in fact, I think that will be a blessing in disguise for our program. SL is a high character person. You may not like that he isn't a "rah-rah" type personality and that he isn't animated in his speech or demeanor, but he is a hell of an offensive coach, a good man and is addressing our defensive deficiencies with the current recruiting class as well as the previous one. I don't know what he will do, but it would also be a blessing if Novil sticks around for one more year and allows these incoming DT's to not be thrown into the fire immediately. A good program with great facilities is being built right now. Let's not hamstring that process by running off a good young coach and starting over from scratch.4 points

^ This. I think it's funny that some think we have turned the corner after just one win over a very bad MT team.3 points

What is there to say? We beat what might be the worst FBS team or close to it. We've still never accomplished anything meaningful. Players are leaving. And our coach has a contract so bad we can get out of it. Sure we are optimistic that we can improve. Cautiously. But we ain't there yet. Just taking a breath and hoping we don't make bottom 10 again with our 1.8mm albatross. Folks just have nothing left to say.3 points

Would've loved for Burke to have found his home in Denton and enjoyed the college experience there as much as I did. Wishing him the best at his next stop. Anyone know the NT student athlete exit interview process? I hope anyone leaving the program via transfer, graduation, or otherwise is interviewed to keep Wren and his staff aware of the player perspective within the programs.3 points

Yeah only a fraction of our fanbase follows recruiting anywhere near as close as they follow the actual team, so I get it. If you don’t, when you see the struggles it’s like Groundhog Day. Heck, even if you do it kind of feels that way. But this is different. Littrell won those games, he built up the recruiting momentum, and he capitalized by signing better classes than we’ve seen since recruiting has really been tracked online. Firing him before those guys become upperclassmen would be counterproductive. Good chance we’d see a lot of our talent transfer with a one-time sit-out free transfer rule coming, and those good recruits we got would likely decommit. And the recruiting perception of UNT would likely go back to square one with HS coaches thinking it’s a losing program where the coach is destined to be fired rather than hired away. Long story short, we really want Littrell to work out and he’s about to get a shot with the best roster in terms of top-down talent he’s had.3 points

If we weren't North Texas the track feet and baseball arm would belong to the same guy.3 points

We signed 3 defensive line commits last class who all had multiple offers from P5 conference schools. The 4th d-linemen from last class is starting as a true Freshman (Tashoyn Johnson). O-line recruiting hasn’t been impressive but we just landed a transfer from Oklahoma State and got a commit from a high school offensive linemen who had offers from 4 different P5 conference schools. It is coming along on the lines, but even more importantly, I think, is the way our line has looked much improved under Mike Bloesch. He really seems to have the group playing well together and looks like he’s getting the most out of what we have.2 points

It would be cool if we made a bowl during the nonsense that is 2020. Especially if it were a local bowl. I know most don't like the Frisco Bowl but I live near it and we are building a campus a stone throw from the stadium.2 points

I know this wasn't 2001, but any time the old SBC rivalry with MTSU is brought up:2 points

I'm tired of all of the "yeah buts..." We could have 1,000 yds of offense in a game, score 100pts and shut out the opponent on defense and the board would still be full of "yeah but..."2 points

I think this situation is more Charlotte has been on him for a year... North Texas joined the race 3 weeks ago. Not a good look when he is 3 mins from campus and you are a year behind someone all the way across the country. It really screams you werent our A, B or C option... But come join us now.2 points

I am loving the "but it's only Middle Tennessee" argument. MUTS played Army and lost 42-0. The leading rusher for Army (a team that runs an exotic "you don't prepare for it every week" offense) had 98 yards. Bean had two less rushing TD's than Army's TEAM. Against every other CUSA team they have played (nUTSAck, WKU, and FIU) they have lost by 2, 3, and 3. Please, for the love of God, just stop it.2 points

What? We only had 10 mean on the field when Bean was in the lineup? Writeup did come from Judy MacLeod's group at CUSA.2 points

With Falwell Jr out of the picture, I would think Liberty could be more attractive to a conference now. As far as joining CUSA, I am not so certain they would be welcomed by ODU. Virginia is not a small state by any means but there are already 4 FBS schools in the state and JMU could easily compete in SBC or CUSA. Early on, Falwell the Elder said he wanted Liberty to be the "protestant Notre Dame" in college athletics. It looks like they are on their way.2 points

The talent on this offense is overwhelming. Then look at our high school skill player commits, we have: - A 6’4” QB with 32 TDs/1 INT through 7 games this year and more arm talent than any QB commit I’ve seen us get, currently being coached up by Mason Fine - Two wide receivers with P5 offers - A running back with multiple SEC offers - A tight end who was offered by Texas and LSU at one point - A 6’5” 325 lb offensive tackle with multiple P5 offers. Defense still has some progress to make but I think the talent is not an issue there. Offense, we’re gonna be tough for the foreseeable future.2 points

Absolutely. It has to go both ways. I said the same thing about Bean a few weeks ago too. Glad he kept ready, despite several on here claiming he was pouting on the sidelines. His performance Saturday did not look like a mopey/defeated guy to me.1 point

From what I saw, we ran the 3-3-5 but it wasn't the generic 3 down linemen that we have been showing all year. We actually mixed it up1 point

This is a little complicated. By my count we have 75 players on scholarship. This only includes players who signed LOIs with us as well as Austin Aune and Jason Pirtle, so the real number is probably higher since we have likely awarded scholarships to other walkons like Ethan Mooney, Rod Burns, Kyleb Howell, etc. No matter how many spots are available, we can still only sign up to 25 for the class. Ikaika Ragsdale has already taken one of those spots by blueshirting, so I’d think we’re looking at about 24 spots. I’m estimating that we have about 13 scholarship seniors, plus the 7 or so open spots puts us roughly at about 20 open spots for the class. Even if a few more of those seniors are on scholarship than what I’m thinking, it would still open a spot in 2021. With players inevitably quitting and transferring, we should be able to sign a full class. What’s going to be real tricky is 2022. If we are allowed 85 scholarship players next season EXCLUDING seniors, where is the room to bring in another signing class in 2022? Unless the NCAA allows for more than 85 scholarships in 2022 and beyond, the impact for giving all of these guys an extra year is going to be felt for the next 5 years.1 point

Based on the way tonight's game went, there shouldn't be any controversy. Bean is our starter in our next game. But the way the season has gone, the precedent has been set--if any QB isn't doing well, he's getting pulled for the other guy, and pretty quick.1 point
