  2. Hmmm, reminds me of another Liberty Christian player by the name of James Mitchell (#37 on your program) who blocked for Jamario Thomas and Patrick Cobbs. I always thought he didn't get to carry the ball enough. He made my point against Arkansas State in 2004 (when Jamario couldn't go due to hammy issues) and gained 166 yards. Next to Andy Brewster, one of the most overachieving players on the 2004 team.

  4. I follow this online community regularly and find it extremely entertaining because I love DFW sports discussion and everybody seems to be super smart. When something falls into my wheelbarrow like college basketball arenas, I lend my expertise. You're welcome. I've probably seen 100-plus games at The Pit, and it's fine. But think about what has happened over the past...I don't know...eight years? Arlington spends $80 million on a new arena. It wasn't long after that when SMU announced a $42 million renovation to Moody, which turned out to be amazing. They went from 8,600 seats or so to 7,000 with luxury suites and better locker rooms and more space for concessions and such. It was extremely well done. Shortly after that, TCU announced that they were going to pour $50 million into Daniel-Meyer. Both renovations are top-notch. UNT could do the same with The Pit. For $30 million or $40 million or less, you could wipe out most of that upper deck that nobody uses anyway and make it suites and meeting spaces for season ticket holders and donors. If you tried to build that from scratch on the other side of the highway, it would cost you $90 million. Or more. And quite honestly, it wouldn't even be that nice. Baylor is going from the Ferrell Center at 10,00 seats to a new $400 million arena on campus that will seat 7,000. Smaller is better today. And it's not just what you see. It's offices, athletic training facilities, meeting rooms, places to play ping pong, etc.. As I stated, The Pit is fine. But the bottom line is, it's the fourth-best arena in DFW right now. It wouldn't take that much money to change that if you just spend some cash on The Pit. If you wanted to do that across the highway, it would cost a tremendous amount of money.

  5. From a fan's view point, I see nothing wrong with the Super Pit. I prefer it over the cookie cutter arenas being built now. UTA and others newer arenas remind me of massive McDonalds. Obviously no NT construction is going to be approved, until it is clear the pandemic is over and not likely to return.

  6. Up to this point, UTSA has basically wasted every advantage they have over the rest of the Texas SBCUSA schools. You have a gigantic city to yourself, basically. You have way more media available to you than anyone else. You play in a destination city that P5s want to play at. And they’ve accomplished so very little. But one winning stretch would easily make then a strong candidate for AAC membership and SMU and UH would love that to be their other Texas conference mate, as would everyone else in that conference as they don’t share in TV markets.

  9. I would love for North Texas to renovate the Super Pit. I personally like it where it is. They could make it to where the volleyball team plays there too but that a pipe dream since it seems that it is already a hassle to play basketball games there. I would really like some structural renovations not just superficial ones.

The message has already been sent. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/21/us/minneapolis-police-george-floyd-protests.html As long as people like my niece want to protest and scream F___ You within inches of officers faces and post all over social media that Officers are murderers etc. I think this trend will only continue!

  13. With Raheem Mostert out several weeks with a sprained MCL, and Tevin Coleman out even longer (they put him on IR), the 9'ers backfield is down to Jerrick McKinnon & our boy Jeff! https://www.sfgate.com/49ers/article/Jerick-McKinnon-Jeff-Wilson-are-now-49ers-lead-15584876.php "The next man up is 24-year-old Jeff Wilson, who has two carries and three catches this season. He's had a bit role with the 49ers since 2018, but could actually get the most action this coming Sunday." Looks like they plan to use Jeff as an early-down back and McKinnon as a 3rd down guy. Here's the opportunity... It's up to Jeff to seize it!

  15. Pre-SMU game last week I was as guilty as anyone of drinking the green Kool-ade. Some of you knew exactly what the situation would be with so many unproven players wearing green. Yet I had our 2018 MG team at Apogee last week with a mixture of the 2014 HOD Bowl-winning defense, too. Problem was that SMU had most of its “Top 25” 2019 team back along with the UT transfer QB who was “only” this last Summer’s Dave Campbell’s Texas Football coverboy. I had a Texas Tech alum tell me post-loss: “Hey, SMU has a good football team this year as they did last year.“ So it was back to earth time for many of us dreamers. That’s OK.

  16. The sad reality is that Seth is two games over .500 for his career and that is still the best record of any coach we have had since Hayden Fry left for Iowa.

  21. Strong start for them. It would not surprise me if they go 0-3 in October. Also, i think by the time we play them we will be very hard to stop offensively. Our defense will continue to hover around the D+ to C+ range

  22. 🤔This surprised me......MUTS HFC Rick Stockstill is now in his 15’th year & his W/L in Murfreesboro is only .508— 91 W’s...89 L’s. UTSA? If they ever got it together with their being based in a true destination city & with a stadium that could host a 2’nd bowl game (a la New Orleans), they could eventually move out of CUSA to 1 of 2 other conferences. I think if we ‘Green’ers could swallow a little prideful dislike to their program they would make a mavawous’ travel partner; especially to 1 of those 2 conferences. I think most believe AD Wren Baker is a progressive thinker who will always want to put UNT athletics in the best light possible. This East/West conglomeration of schools called CUSA cannot last in its present make-up, but we just have to be ready to move up to better ourselves if there’s a conference implosion & not let others beat us to the draw. GMG!

  25. 🎂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MEAN JOE! I first posted on GMG in 2013 this vintage footage of a North Texas Freshman Team playing Texas Tech’s Freshman team (the Picadors) in 1965. Joe Greene (#72 back then) is featured in some of this video. •••I’m assuming that Trooper Keeton is a Texas Tech & Lubbock local legend. GMG!

  28. The biggest issue with the Super Pit that many outside of the diehards don't realize is that the university owns the Super Pit. It is not an athletic's venue so that creates scheduling issues, etc... I am all for renovating, but I also realize that doing so doesn't eliminate the scheduling problems and other issues that arise due to the university's ownership.

  31. I had it way back in early march (moderate case, no hospitalization needed). The fever lasted over 2 weeks. The health department would not clear me to leave the house for over 2 months because of existing cough. Of course, this was the very beginning of the outbreak. So, maybe they were being overly cautious then. I would say that it took me about 5 months to get back to completely normal. Up until Covid, I hadn't been sick in about 15 years. In the 3 months right after Covid, I came down with 2 stomach viruses and also an MRSA infection. In other words, Covid seems to have knocked out my immune system. Hope you get better soon. It is a crazy and unpredictable virus.

  36. So you think TCU scheduled SMU (as a makeup game that didn’t exist before this season), saw them barely squeak by Texas State, and got scared? My lord people, SMU is not a quality program...we just make them look like it every time.
