  1. Speaking as someone who currently has Covid, it is the real thing. It is relentless and EVERY step should be taken to keep it from spreading. If it means we cancel a football game, then we cancel. If you think it isn't real or isn't that bad, then I would guess you probably have not had it.... and I hope you don't.

  2. I am a middle school teacher. I got it the first week students came back on campus face to face. I had morning cafeteria duty the first day students came back. I had to tell the kids over and over to wear the mask over their nose too or to pull it up. It was a constant issue telling them to wear the mask in the classroom (they want to take it off at their seats). I had afternoon bus duty that same day. It was a mask free zone when they were waiting on their parents - not because we allowed it, but they would not listen. I tested positive at the end of the week. I have not been back to work since then because I cannot go 3 days without a fever. Most days it is over 100.

  3. I'm willing to bet a substantial amount of money that everyone in Green wanted to play. Players, Coaches, AD, everyone. We can accuse the guys of not being very good, but I wouldn't question their heart to play... no matter who's on the other side. If you're insinuating we're using this to get out of the game because the team thought they were going to lose, that's pretty crappy.

  5. I had it way back in early march (moderate case, no hospitalization needed). The fever lasted over 2 weeks. The health department would not clear me to leave the house for over 2 months because of existing cough. Of course, this was the very beginning of the outbreak. So, maybe they were being overly cautious then. I would say that it took me about 5 months to get back to completely normal. Up until Covid, I hadn't been sick in about 15 years. In the 3 months right after Covid, I came down with 2 stomach viruses and also an MRSA infection. In other words, Covid seems to have knocked out my immune system. Hope you get better soon. It is a crazy and unpredictable virus.

  6. I work in a very large medical organization with a very at risk population and can testify to the spikes in mortality rates. It is a very real issue that we are simply lucky isn't deadlier. But still deadly. Yes it can be a political weapon. But at its root it is not a weapon. Every life we can save is worth it. Sorry to get serious on it. I have just seen how serious it can be

  7. Pretty interesting pickup here that has really flown under the radar. Davis was listed in the 2-deep this week behind Cam Johnson and saw some action this past Saturday. Davis is a transfer from Texas Tech, and former Euless Trinity Trojan, who was recently added to our roster. Below is his recruiting profile from when he signed with Texas Tech out of high school. Was primarily a special teams player at Tech but this is another P5 transfer for those asking for more of those. 4th P5 Transfer since this summer with the others being QB Amani Gilmore from Kentucky, DB Jordan Rucker from Purdue, and OL Jacob Farrell from OK State. https://247sports.com/Player/John-Davis-90921/high-school-174618/ https://meangreensports.com/sports/football/roster/john-davis/4953

  9. With Raheem Mostert out several weeks with a sprained MCL, and Tevin Coleman out even longer (they put him on IR), the 9'ers backfield is down to Jerrick McKinnon & our boy Jeff! https://www.sfgate.com/49ers/article/Jerick-McKinnon-Jeff-Wilson-are-now-49ers-lead-15584876.php "The next man up is 24-year-old Jeff Wilson, who has two carries and three catches this season. He's had a bit role with the 49ers since 2018, but could actually get the most action this coming Sunday." Looks like they plan to use Jeff as an early-down back and McKinnon as a 3rd down guy. Here's the opportunity... It's up to Jeff to seize it!

  10. "Contact tracing" and quarantining the folks that have come in contact with those 4 positives will wipe out at least a whole position unit, if not an entire side of the ball.

  15. Be Careful down there, those fans are 100% trash. At least the two trips I have taken down there. I know not all of them are like that though just depends on who you come across

  17. SMU and Houston kicked our ass last year and it didn’t hurt recruiting. Also don’t think those losses hurting team morale is what lost us those games the rest of the way. Get the experience, have more on-field time together to click, and win some conference games and recruiting would keep going just fine imo. Also, I’m not very worried about recruiting right now. I’m more concerned on how we develop the guys we have, because it’s hard to imagine recruiting getting much better than it’s been the last two years. Until we start winning the conference and pushing into the top 25, we have recruited about as well as you can expect. Those guys are sophomores and freshmen. I think their development is what’s really going to make or break things for the Littrell era, as opposed to current high school juniors and seniors who won’t be in a position to be impact players for us for another 4 years or so.

  18. While I question our coaching and the talent level of both lines, I do not question the hearts of our players. I believe every one of those young men want nothing more than to take the field and play. I feel bad that they will not have that opportunity this weekend against Houston. I hope those that are ill recover quickly, and those that are at risk, do not get ill.

  19. I just don’t get the mindset that cancelled would-have-been losses are a net positive for a young, inexperienced team desperately in need of on-field growth.

  20. Glad you are getting better. This is what I have been talking about about in the other forum - this isn’t all about deaths. This nasty little bug is all over the place, causing immune or autoimmune problems, heart issues, and kidney problems (in addition to the lungs of course). I hope you keep improving!

  21. Agreed. I hate UTSA specifically because of their fans.

  22. So @Aldo and I were planning on doing a Houston preview podcast when it was announced that there would be no game this week. So we talked anyway. The 'Rona, scholarships, defense, golf. https://meangreennation.com/133-cancellation/

  23. "We understand this COVID-related decision North Texas has made to not play Saturday's game and appreciate the consistent dialogue with our program by UNT athletics director Wren Baker, his administration and medical staff during this week," Houston vice president for athletics Chris Pezman said in a statement. "I am disappointed for our student-athletes who have continued to focus on competing this season and were ready to play this Saturday. We will continue to work to adjust our schedule with the hopes of playing as soon as we can." In addition, Houston also had a scheduled game against Washington State on Sept. 12 canceled last month when the Pac-12 decided it would not start the fall season on time. So with that game included, Houston has had five September games either canceled or postponed. read more: https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/29953866/another-problem-houston-north-texas-game-due-coronavirus

  24. it is not positive tests per se that caused the cancelling it is the contact tracing and subsequent 14 day quarantine needed for those exposed. CDC guidelines that most are following. My daughter unfortunately just got quarantined when the her HS Coach tested positive, so 14 day quarantine to stop any more positive tests. Hopefully the October 3rd games is able to be played

  25. Here's to everyone who said we'd be starting the season 1-3. wait...that's still the plan?

  26. So! They've pinpointed the problem? Well, so have I. 1. Our defense gets run around, past, and most sadly OVER by a 184 lb running back. 2. Our defense (most notably our blitzing linebacker) thinks that playing bumper body without bothering to put your arms around the SMU QB should be sufficient to bring him down. They also thought that about the aforementioned RB. 3. Our defense thinks that late hitting and drawing 15 yrd penalties is a great idea.

  27. Should be interesting. 6-8 riser. Son of UNT great Ronnie Morgan. Only other low to mid major offers at this point.

  28. I was reminded about how serious it can be when I learned that it took The Rock over 3 weeks to beat it. If it takes a guy that looks like him 3 weeks then it'll put me in a casket for sure. Wishing you a speedy and fully recovery, and I'm glad my mom was able to retire from teaching last year.

  32. Plus, we don’t want our boys getting the coronavirus. Thought someone should mention that.

  33. I don’t think we should assume the Davis boys will be back next week. Depends on the timing and their lung capacity if they were infected. I also hope we are checking hearts as well for those who are infected.

  36. There's pro's and con's. A. It can provide that much needed experience. And if it goes well, a nice esteem boost. B. If it goes right into a major ass-kicking, it can be debilitating to the teams morale and seriously hurt recruiting. I think most of the board see option B happening, unfortunately. The net benefit to the team would be negative.

  37. I also work in a school. And due to contact tracing, 10 cases have put about 200 students in quarantine on my campus.

  38. This. I work in a school, and when we get a positive case we have to go through the contact tracing process that results in numerous quarantines. Four could definitely wipe out a huge number.

  40. Just not getting it, sorry. The Super Pit is not Basketball Fouts. There's nothing wrong with it, unless being built in the 70's is some sort of structural flaw.

  42. Does anyone chuckle at people with unrealistic expectations? "Hey, great job North Texas! You went 10-1 ... but you had a bad game against SMU. Littrell ... you're fired. Let's get an all new-coaching staff in here and rebuild this thing in 3 to 4 years with their new philosophy". So it sounds like you'll only be happy if we go undefeated every year? Pretty tough bar to clear. My advice would be to buy a lot of TUMS because we're not going 10-1. In a related note, I'm assuming you picked UNT to go 11-0 in Brett Vito's "get your rear on the record" contest or whatever he calls it?

  43. Given the previous post above that one, am I correctly interpreting it: the reason she won't go out with you is that you haven wrapper your arms around her and brought her to the ground? 😉
