Battle flag created in 1986...first of its kind, as far as I know. Necessary Roughness was in 1991, so they used the Battle Flag that was 5 years old then.6 points

The ticket sales for Saturday's SMU football game were intentionally set low to allow for student admission to the event. The athletic department does ask that students please get their tickets through the athletics web site, but no current student will be turned away at the gate. Per an athletics administrator "They've already paid for their tickets through their athletics fee, we have estimates of how many will show, and we are going to accommodate them". On another good note, The Denton County COVID-19 Stats Site recorded only one new case in the entire county on September 15 and have not recorded any new cases since then. Denton County has a population of 906,532 according to the recent United States census.5 points

Just heard from a UNT Dean yesterday that UNT has not had even one case of COVID due to "community spread" to date. There have been 40 confirmed cases (5 faculty/staff and 35 student), but not one of the cases originated "on campus". The cases were brought onto the campus from off campus. That is really amazing considering what has been going on at other university campuses such as Texas Tech. Fingers crossed the precautions UNT has in place continue to work well and that the campus can "open up" more for the spring semester.4 points

It's actually smart....takes it away from them a little when we call ourselves NTSU this week....4 points

Some funny stories some of us could tell about Richard Scarborough Spears. For instance, Rick & I once went to a Baylor-TCU game at ACS & he had had one too many. We stood up after one play & I spilt his (JD & coke) drink on him. The expression on his face was priceless!😆 For years he joked about that. Post-TCU/Baylor game we go to the parking lot —get in his car & found ourselves in a terrific traffic jam so....he told me to take the wheel (which I did) & he gets out of his car & proceeded to direct traffic!🤠 I’m surprised we both didn’t get pulled over by the TCU police. I miss him. RIP, Rick. PS: Rick Spears spent the last 25 years of his life alcohol free.👍👍4 points

More information about SMU than I ever wanted to know.4 points

After all, what would the great City of Dallas do without all the bar receipts the students of SMU charge up on their parent AMEXes? Maybe the great success in property tax collection from each SMU alumni when their parents buy them a $750k starter home in Lakewood or the M Streets? Beyond that I struggle to find the partnership... I'm sure the Park Cities locals that put up with SMU feel further slighted by this new marketing angle SMU has taken. Tell someone in University Park or Highland Park that they're from "Dallas" and see what they say.4 points

Not to throw cold water on everyone's excitement, but UNT hasn't "landed" anyone here. Until this kid actually signs he is still on the market, and we have all seen how these "commitments" go these days. I absolutely love the fact that, at this time, he has "committed" to UNT, but my excitement over him will begin the day he signs that UNT scholarship offer sheet. Kid has some pretty decent offers, including ours, out there and has some playing yet to do before college.3 points

I have "North Texas State" on my diploma (along with C.C. Nolan's signature) and I don't have any plans to request an update (UNT) for it. I never felt any shame with NTSU......just a little annoyance. I (like so many alums before me) just refer to my alma mater as "North Texas". But I am aware that NTSU was a compromise name. Our first choice back in 1961 was UNT.3 points

Kudos to Wren Baker & the UNT Athletic Dept. for allowing any UNT student into Apogee Stadium for the SMU game. Obviously other schools are doing the same. GOOD NEWS! On another front, I heard on ESPN that “not one player” from the Texans/Chief’s game had tested positive for COVID-19. We will overcome this killer, folks. • My late father’s mother & daddy died one day apart of the 1918 Spanish flu epidemic near Mexia/Groesbeck. The youngest of 10 kids, daddy was only 15 mos. old when they passed.3 points

I absolutely love this look. And I rarely pay attention to uniforms. Home run by our athletic department!3 points

It is an interesting attempt to recreate the Hayden Fry look...it comes close, but not actually accurate. I am glad they are being creative, however. Will there be a City of Denton logo on the front of the jersey...just curious.3 points

Youre right... i need to stop being an angry old man about this. If the kids are excited about it... and we win. Im all in!3 points

There's this itch on the back of my neck that says the result of tomorrow's game will play into this. I know he says that he will figure this out tonight, though, so we'll see.2 points

Hey @eeeeagle, I have two seats that need to go to a good fan tomorrow. I hate missing, but cannot be avoided. Section 206 Row 8, $25 each. DM me!2 points

Several Baylor players who were set to miss the game did not receive a single positive test, and despite also receiving multiple negative tests in the same time frame, were not allowed to return to team activities because of local regulations in place for contact tracing.2 points

The MWC is now looking to play football starting in late October. Hawaii will not be playing. Sucks for any player that may have transferred there. https://mwwire.com/2020/09/16/mountain-west-looking-to-play-an-eight-game-schedule-per-report/2 points

I believe the collapsing quotes will be a very good thing. It's really rare, but sometimes someone will want to reply to a LONG post and, instead of just @-ing them, they have to quote the OP and - with it - you see the entire f-in novel duplicated for your mobile scrolling enjoyment. Even better when you get to the bottom of that said novel and the reply is a simple YES or NO. Seriously, learn to @ someone2 points

I mean, I know McCasland's scheme blends the line between forwards/guards, but there's no way you can mistake Geu as a "guard" if you have an ounce of b-ball IQ.2 points

Usually our first home game or two is played in temeratures rivalling the surface of the sun, so I would assume that is why we wore white against HBU and will against smuT. Force your opponent to wear dark colors and stand in the sun.2 points

Is it ok with you that we hail to the green and white or should we only hail to the green?2 points
