  1. You’re not going to pull a scholarship for a player choosing to sit out a season for health concerns when there is a worldwide pandemic.

  2. Nobody is getting promoted. Probably will see some get demoted (Baylor, TCU, Iowa State, WVU, and Kansas State could be in trouble if the Big XII goes away, while Wazzou, Oregon State, and Cal are probably in trouble if the PAC-12 crumbles). BYU’s model is the one to watch. They are the o my quasi-power team. Nobody will invite them into a power conference because of their Mormon connections, but other power conferences consider them Power conference qualified for OOC play. Its possible that we could see a lot of G5 schools go old school and go independent for football, just to call themselves power schools and tell their fans they could end up in a playoff if things went right, even though the chances are incredibly remote. College football is the ultimate monopoly and if you aren’t in the club, you ain’t getting in. 13 programs have won titles since 1996. Another 4 programs played for a title and didn’t win it since then. 17...out of 66 power teams , when you include BYU. The G5’s would do very well to let this happen and give our fans, players, and coaches a chance to reward them all with an actual national championship, which would finally let our level of play stop being the only level of any organized football to not get a chance to be a champion.

  3. Last weekend we got a back with multiple PAC 12 offers, now a back with multiple SEC offers. Get all these guys on campus and put the ball in their hands.

  6. I don't see the problem here. ADs have made it abundantly clear how dependent athletic departments are on football revenue and the pandemic threat to the football season has underscored this dependence even more. It only makes sense that players would take that info and use it to press things that they see as important to them. If the players are just students who can be easily replaced by other students and that same football revenue will still be available to colleges & universities, then ADs have nothing to worry about in terms of these demands. If, however, the revenue is because of the skills of those particular players and cannot be easily replaced by other students, then it sounds like colleges & universities are going to need to buck up, bargain with the players, and give some concessions to their demands. That's just the marketplace at work.

  7. Littrell did say he wanted to end up running the triple option at the end of his career

  8. We can’t get Jackson too, can we? What are we going to do with all these really good, young, RBs?? Run the Wishbone?

  9. It seems pretty hard to argue that the game is cancelled due to an Act of God when you're continuing to play games against other teams.

  10. Wren: You owe us $1.25 million Texas A&M AD: What it gonna take for you to skip this game and sign off today? Wren: 1 million Texas A&M AD: Let me take this deal back to my manager but I don't think he will go for it, I working for you.

  12. We have no room for him anymore, right? I didn't think we had room for Keith Jackson, but he's on board now as well. Can we add Johnson? Or do you think Littrell burned that bridge?

  13. One thing the left/Democrats/MSM is good at is making up a lie and then building a cottage industry around it. Assuming this refers to the falsehood of Trump calling the virus a hoax, that isn't what he said at all. What he said was that the Democrats' portrayal/criticism of his administration's response to the virus was *their* next big hoax. He never called the virus a hoax, but that's what everyone repeats. He had repeatedly referred to Russia-gate and everything else his political opponents have thrown at him as hoaxes and this was the next one his opponents were trotting out. Personally, I don't care if people love Trump or hate Trump, but let's at least be honest.

  14. So he sin in the "voluntary" category and not considered at risk? Looks like he will get $150K. Every person needs to do what they feel most comfortable with.

  15. Keep in mind most of what is posted from the NTD is opinion pieces, not actual reporting. Sadly, from all sides, what was once reporting has become personal agenda messages where you either accept the writers version or you are wrong.

  16. He just committed per Twitter. After watching his hudl video, the one thing that stands out to me is his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. I was also impressed with his ability to cut up field. Our RB room is going to be great.

  17. This is one of the Chargers beat writers. The team cut a WR many expected the fill their slot WR role this season. They drafted 2 slot wideouts this year, but to cut a player most picked to see a lot of reps is pretty surprising and looks to be good news for Jalen.

  18. society's decision making should've from the beginning and needs to be moving forward reactive to the virus, not our own concept of normalcy. I think all of us should at bare minimum be preparing for the idea that life two years from now still doesn't look the way it did 6 months ago...especially as we continue to send messages that try to lessen or degrade the severity of the virus. the simple fact is that the virus spreads and at a certain point that spread is debilitating to a community. we can control economic mechanism. we can control educational mechanisms. we can't control contagion.

  19. First - when they say "kids don't have a lot of symptoms" - they mean less than 10 years old. 10+ aged "kids" show the same symptoms as adults. Let's see where that number goes when the hallways look like this:

  20. Another great show, one comment. Kept pointing to number of l transfers on soccer team, which just is not true. They have three on the current squad and most starters were recruited as freshmen. They do have one recent transfer from OU, but that is exception.

  21. Yeah we are clearly going for the bigger back mold over the scat back build at RB. Adaway is 6’ 215, Johnson is 6’ 200, Ragsdale officially clocked in at 6’ 213 almost a year and a half ago, and Jackson is listed at 5’10” 195. But Johnson is a step above at 247 lbs on the Syracuse roster. I would be a little surprised if we were interested because it didn’t appear to be the best terms that he decommitted under, but we’re in a great spot with our skill players so if he comes he’s icing on the cake but far from a spot of need, even if we are upperclassmen heavy.

  23. Um... huh? I didn't mention Trump. I suppose I need to write a paragraph to explain what "this" means? In this case, "this" refers to the reaction to COVID.

  30. and I'm quoting myself and making this a separate post so it doesn't get looped in to the above point (and so all of you boring old white men can give me more -1s rather than trying to articulate your thoughts and engage in argument...your -1s are my GMG-life-blood...I'm like a douchebaging vampire for them...feed me) both or economic and educational systems have needed major overall and modernization anyway. covid can be the big reset button if we're smart enough to utilize it (gosh, I know we're not)

  31. That is certainly a good point for some school. For Thor's school he was saying it was the vast majority in school. My kid's school has not released their numbers yet, but for the elementary grades anyhow, they were going half time through the fall. So the halls would be half filled. The middle school and high school is really up to how many parents decide to keep their kids at home in the fall. The hallways COULD still look like that.

  32. "On July 16, the state had a total of 23,170 children ages 17 and under who had tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the Florida Department of Health. By July 24, that number jumped to 31,150. That's a 34% increase in new cases among children in eight days. And more children in Florida are requiring hospitalization. As of July 16, 246 children had been hospitalized with coronavirus. By July 24, that number had jumped to 303. That's a 23% increase in child Covid-19 hospitalizations in eight days." 5 children have died - a 9 year old without risk factors died at the end of last week.

  33. No composite rating, but rated an 85 by 247sports. https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/Article/North-Texas-Mean-Green-football-family-helps-UNT-LB-tarter-KC-Ossai-overcome-new-adversity-146172544/ Still, the Mean Green have virtually been on Ossai’s doorstep frequently. Ossai does not have a 247Sports industry-generated composite rating at the moment, but his 247Sports rating is 85 which puts him as the No. 37 inside linebacker recruit in the country. There’s no doubt that North Texas is ready to hang in with Ossai through this pandemic. “They’ve been pretty hands on with me, calling me every week and making sure my family is alright,” Ossai said. “I’ve been able to get to know most of their staff, including their head coach and defensive coordinator. It’s been great.”
