  2. ya. pretty sure the California lynchings were carried out by Kamala Harris donors and the killers of Ahmaud Aubrey used to be campaign door knockers for John Lewis...little known fact, Derek Chauvin even had on a Klobuchar 2020 t-shirt under his uniform. to the rest of this post...since it's the definition of white fragility...which apparently is now too a major tenet of conservative thought, let's break it down point for point: "closing down the economy" - pretty sure covid did that...and in truth, only in part...and for what should've been one finite period. we had the choice, like every nation in the world, to slow down the economy, enact meaningful social safety nets for individuals and businesses which as the wealthiest nation we could do, and wait out the pandemic spike and cautiously re-enter normalcy...or say screw it and just let people die because of our civil liberties. we, of course, opted for the latter. "shutting down schools" - had we chose the prior and listened to health experts rather than AM radio and facebook, we'd be in a better position to do this. whether you're smart enough to believe it or not, we're in the middle of a global pandemic. this "socialist democrat anarchist covid hoax" conspiracy theory breaks down the moment you look outside our borders (unless you believe "Antifa" is the new illuminati and has infiltrated the governments of almost every nation in the world simply to pave the way for Joe Biden, of all people, to win the 2020 election) "defunding the police" - admittedly, it's a bad slogan...but it's been out there long enough for anyone wanting to use it as a point in an argument to learn about its actual message. very few are saying "no police", but rather the message is 'rethink policing". we ask too much from the police and as such governments have simply thrown more and more money into their budget in the name of "law and order". this country desperately needs a rethink in how and what we police. "law abiding, economically productive, tax paying citizens of being racist, privileged" - are only white conservatives law abiding, economically productive and tax paying? there seems to be some giant misconception that if you've never called a person a n-word that you're not racist. you are racist. I am racist. we, as white Americans, have grown up in a structure of racism and it has been our privilege to benefit from it. "we obey the laws of the land" - "we" also created those laws and they are selectively enforced. "respect our history for what is was, not how it is" - you actually don't. you respect what you've been taught...a white-washed, watered down version, propagand-ized version of our history. you cower and hide from our history...you lack humility and fear changing any conception of what you have believe to be correct. "The right does not indiscriminately destroy what others have built." - well...you benefit from those structures and ignore that many were put in place to intentionally oppress others.

  7. Those numbers are shocking to me. Are you positive about that? In my district, we’re at 44% opting for virtual, with the lowest SES Title 1 campus at 36%. Neighboring districts range from 42-54% virtual, and there are some campuses clocking in at over 70% virtual. I have friends in Dallas ISD, and no one has seen anything near a rate that low, sub 10%. We’re gonna see a near half and half mix as long as this goes on.

  8. with the current situation, I just dont see how they can play college football... with the NBA and NHL they are able to isolate the players in a protected space (a bubble) with the leagues covering the costs of containment and COVID testing. Now the MLB is going to play in empty stadiums, and travel, with testing and limited interaction... so we will have a better idea of how COVID will spread with a traveling sports team in about 3 weeks. With college football, how would the schools be able to safely isolate players and staff through out a season?

  10. I know it likely wasn’t intentional but the author’s choice of words points out how much we overvalue sports. Good lord, I love college football. I really do. But to me calling it Sophie’s choice is a little ridiculous. This isn’t choosing which child dies, it’s football. Otherwise his point is valid. And although we don’t rely on TV revenue we do probably rely on game day revenue. So if they move forward with fanless games, we probably take a huge hit.

  11. I think, if anything, it will expose the pretenders at every level. Think about schools like MSSt & IASt who likely rely heavily on outside monies (TV money & football ticket money) to get by. They’re going to be in serious trouble. Whereas a school like NT gets by breaking even because we don’t have huge TV deals or huge ticket sales. Silver lining for us CUSA schools & our measly TV deals I guess. Wow, all this time, Judy was playing chess while these other conferences were playing Money Grab.... kudos Judy, kudos to your foresight.

  12. Uh, do I need to repost all the evidence that almost every arrest by federal law enforcement for terrorist action and plots over the last three months have been ultra right white supremacy groups? And most of those arrest have included a military connection.

  13. I know I'm not Vito, but per his article "The school is administering PCR nasal swab tests that detect active COVID-19 infections to all of its athletes and staff members as they return to campus." I interpret that to mean the tests are indicating active cases, not symptoms.

  20. 247 has him with 9 offers. ULM, UNLV, Southern Miss, Arkansas St., New Mexico and others.
    2 points
  21. Yep, exactly. While I don't believe these offers are on the table anymore, this is a player who was getting offers from schools like Texas and LSU at one point, and then I guess he got hurt. He fully expects schools of that caliber to start coming around again, and I bet some will. This will be a tough one to pull in, but the fact that we are in the running and looking good at this time says a lot about our recruiting staff to me.

  24. I watched Ward’s hudl highlights. Ward is very quick, has the arm strength to throw blockers out of his way, and has great reaction to defending the play. We got a good one! A real bad ass player!

  30. One of the main problems as I see it is there is no identifiable target and/or the target keeps moving with respect to this virus. When political or public health "leaders" are pressed for answers on what they are looking for in their decision making the response is typically "we'll have to see where we are," but that doesn't really answer the question. Is it transmission rates (new daily cases, total cases, etc.), hospitalizations, deaths, affected age groups, comorbitities, raw numbers, percentage of population, treatments, a vaccine, something else or all of the above? Does the curve need to be flattened or does the curve need to go away? I think people will rally around a goal, they just don't know what the goal is.

  32. See... but that is the rub here. Those people acting immaturely are not professionals and can shoot from the hip in the name of 'voting with their dollar.' It is to be expected and happens all the time. People are free to act a fool. But the leader of the free world SHOULD be professional, but he can't get out of his own way and violates the Hatch act. He uses the Oval Office as a tool to help that company and troll those libtards. We expect him to be better than some snowflake who shoots from the hip. We SHOULD all have that expectation of our leaders. We are not wrong in having our expectations - regardless of who we voted for.

  33. He does say some pretty ridiculous things. And when he gets called out or criticized for it, people that I would normally expect to be in agreement jump to his defense. For instance, the latest petty thing he's done is stage a bean company endorsement because their CEO came out and said nice things about him. When he gets called out for trifling, his fans run to the grocery store to buy a ton of beans. These are some of the same people that would normally say, "yeah, that's pretty childish.", if it were anyone else. Now, you're absolutely right in that there are people on the other side who immediately swear-off said bean company simply because their CEO said nice things about Trump. That's absolutely immature as well.

  34. it's funny because so many people hate the man that they will do the opposite of what he says. and that's the problem with america today...too many people blindly follow/hate the president that they can't see through their hatred/allegiance at the good/bad that he has done. he has done good things, he has done shitty things...just like every damn president, but for some reason, people don't care. it's either trump great or trump bad...it's sad that people are so closed minded nowadays

  38. if they play then they will have to expect COVID cases among players &teams... lets say 1 player tests positive the Thursday before a game, hows the opposing team going to feel about playing that game, know that player has been exposed to everyone else on the team they are about to play? or what happens when 20 players test positive the morning of a game, will that game still happen? how long will players need to quarantine? Perhaps they should scrap the whole season, and start planning for college basketball, they have enough time to put a plan in place for hoops but they need to start now.

  39. At this time in Texas it's 50% capacity of stadiums/ sports venue. It's going to depend on which side ( those schools who want to play vs schools who want to remain shut down) puts the most pressure on conference leadership. Judy has never been ahead of any curve since taking over leadership of CUSA and it want start now.

  44. Why would school districts run out of money if it is tax payer driven? Why does physical attendance impact tax payments? Maybe I am misunderstanding the comment. It isn't only the students - it is the teacher safety. I know at kids school the teachers are on the upper end near retirement age. They may not make retirement if they are forced to teach in person and get a bad case. I am on the fence with this one - it is definitely tricky. I private school my kids - and they have more flexibility it seems. They are setting up medical task boards from physician parents and hosting seminars with child psychologists. It is a very lucky life - no doubt. However, one of their models they are allowing us to select is a hybrid approach with one week in class, then one week out of that classroom. The off independent week, the teacher will be at home leading instruction, BUT the kids can elect to come into the class and do their hybrid week actually on campus. It allows for parents that cannot work at home or don't feel the need for the home schooling. Seems like a logistic nightmare to me. For my multiple kids, will they all be in class the same week and off at home the same week too? If not, I will be at home with them full time anyhow, just carpooling more. It's insanity. But if we can limit the risk to the kids and faculty - then it is all worth it.
