  2. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/colleges/florida-states-unusual-bond-with-seminole-tribe-puts-mascot-debate-in-a-different-light/2014/12/29/5386841a-8eea-11e4-ba53-a477d66580ed_story.html FSU has long actually worked to develop their relationship with the Seminole tribe...their logo, pre-game Chief Osceola ritual were developed with input and approval from the tribe...since '06 they've offered an elective course on the Seminoles and other SE tribes...the university and graduates give back to the tribe and in turn the tribe is fervently supportive of the school and take pride in the name. I don't know the full extent of their relationship, but the Ute tribe in Utah also gave permission to the university to use their tribe name as logo/mascot...after the University of Utah changed their name from Redskins in 1972.

  5. Good points. The disagreement I have is that if you are charged a fee for an available service/activity and choose not to use it is one thing. However, to be charged a fee for a service/activity that you do not have access to is different.

  6. With the offensive line, I keep coming back to wondering if Erik Williams could have a chance to break the starting lineup. A lot of our guys competing for spots are between 270 and 280, so if he comes in around that weight I could see him having a shot.

  7. I love the way he is talking. Sounds like he’s going into the year with a ton of clarity about what he wants to do. Love having guys like that leading.

  8. One of our higher-rated signees from 2020’s class is from Las Vegas. I don’t care if they’re going to Timbuktu, if the coaches feel like they have a shot, offer! Worst that can happen is, they say ‘no’.

  17. I have a game with my officers about once a quarter and buy in is always $5 (we’re public servants so we have to be cautious with money). Maybe, if this COVID business slows, I’ll have some folks over for a watching party and some cards.

  19. do you think "Redskin" is a pejorative against black people? and yes, racism is rampant and institutionalized in our country and denying it; becoming defensive rather than listening and learning about it does nothing but continue to perpetuate that racism.

  22. All schools are going to be hurting. However, we seem to have an AD in place that sees opportunity when available. The old NT would already have announced severe cuts. Even if cuts are coming at NT, the atmosphere is still positive right now. That is a huge difference between NT now and in the past. I think we are smart for sitting back and watching the cards fall before committing early to cuts. You never know what might happen. We have missed out on plenty of opportunities in the past because we simply were not ready to jump.

  24. I know this is not football related, and feel free to move it (but please leave a link from here to wherever it goes), but I wanted to get as many eyes on this as possible. As a police practitioner, and a person with a healthy intellectual curiosity, I have observed the events of the past several months with great interest. Because we live in a world where it seems people communicate through catchy memes or by sharing blatantly slanted “news” articles, I wondered what people really think. So, I have compiled a short, quick survey to allow people to ANONYMOUSLY share their perspectives. I often get a chance to address police departments and I want to gather greater perspective. Please take a moment to take part. Note that there are TWO links below, one for individuals who are sworn officers (I know there are a few on this board) and one for “civilians.” The questions are identical, but they are designed to capture two distinct vantage points. Thanks Please choose the correct one. Civilian Version: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FLH73GP Sworn Officer Version: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NBDVHY8

  25. Assuming they play this season I’m thinking: - 25% capacity by ticket type - General Seating within the ticket type sections (i.e. if you purchase Scholarship Premium tickets, you can sit anywhere in the Scholarship Premium sections) - Social distancing signs and instructions posted all over the place - Hand sanitizer stations all over the place - Plexiglass shields at concession stands - Masks required except while seated eating or drinking - alternating urinals and sinks blocked from usage - UNT masks as MGSF gifts

  28. Kentucky transfer Amani Gilmore is an interesting option with his running ability, but sophomore Jason Bean and former Arkansas transfer Austin Aune will get the first cracks of the gig after serving as Fine’s backups. Bean was the No. 2 – it’s his job to lose.

  29. Obviously remote work is not new - these companies have always had the ability to hire elsewhere. They pay the regional adjusted salaries when they do hire remote workers. So there is not a shift of high salary jobs behing offered in Omaha - Facebook will pay Omaha salaries. I don't see a shift here other than companies not being able to dictate that a local worker needs to be in office x-amount if the time. Everything has moved to flex time - I wonder how that will change work. It's like Netflix and their unlimited PTO policy. Turns out people take less time off. Same for flex hours - people end up working more.

  31. Five-star senior Makur Maker announced his commitment to Howard on Friday morning, becoming the highest-ranked college basketball prospect to commit to a historically Black college or university since the ESPN recruiting database started in 2007. Maker chose the Bison over UCLA, although Kentucky and Memphis were also on his final list of four schools. "I was the 1st to announce my visit to Howard & other started to dream 'what if,'" Maker wrote on Twitter. "I need to make the HBCU movement real so that others will follow. I hope I inspire guys like Mikey Williams to join me on this journey. I am committing to Howard U & coach Kenny Blakeney." link: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/29403929/five-star-recruit-makur-maker-commits-howard-ucla?linkId=92752039

  38. I'm just saying the infections haven't matched the deaths in awhile (at the beginning the curves were similar). There was a long while where the deaths were coming down and the infections really weren't. For instance there was a secondary spike in cases in late April that wasn't matched in deaths in May. Really the cases more or less plateaued starting in mid May, but the deaths did not plateau starting a couple of weeks later (as one would expect). So using that standard the cases and deaths not necessarily going to correlate in the same way they did in March and April when they did in fact correlate very closely curve wise.
