  1. This project has been a few years in the making, and it's time to finally reveal the Mean Green machine. Hope y'all like it!!

  3. I think it's more like 30 teams, you know who they are, with games in which I have no interest. On another note, I finally got a 'smartTV'. I would have no issue watching NT games on some of the channels available on that thing.

  6. A SBCUSA merger would likely be the death knell for this program, forever relegating NT to the lowest tier of relevance. Not only no, but hell naw!

  11. I enjoyed googling who that was. If you've ever seen the official twitter of the liberty fireman before he got called out of it, it's a mess of RTs and fandom of her and her ilk. Glad you could participate here, though. This thread was missing your trademark brand of non-substantive post count meter running horseshit. You'd been quieter, so were worried you were somehow learning self-awareness and the value of not commenting in every thread. I mean, if anyone was going to appreciate keeping the board on topic, I figured it would be the guy who whines about it constantly, but I guess you've sold out?

  12. I wonder if having two redshirt freshmen and two true freshmen tight ends will make it hard to get a good one this class. The guys we have offered this class all have pretty good offer lists and it helps to pull those guys away from P5s when we can pitch early playing time/catches. Also could be a case of the coaches going after really good tight ends who could hop the guys older than them and if we get one, great. If not, maybe they just don’t get a tight end this class instead of settling for one.

  13. FFR - what does Covid have to do with football and their facilities? This is absurd. Quit turning every thread into your 'poor Republicans, poor Christians, poor Trump.' Just stop. It is tiring. People that enjoy MGF stop coming to the site if they can't avoid your irritating snowflaking on nearly every thread.

  14. Count me in the minority. Absolutely not or anywhere else that I am required to do so. They have the freedom to require me to wear one in their venue while I have the equal freedom to steer clear of their venue altogether. Masks and gloves wouldn’t be necessary at all if people just practiced proper caution. If you treat every person you come into contact with as if they or you have horrid breath and you treat every surface that has touched human hands as if it had shit on it you will be just fine. You won’t get sick from having shit on your hands but you may if you touch your face with shit covered hands. Don’t touch your face with unwashed hands and use a paper towel to open a door after you’ve washed your hands. Simple common sense that works just as well for the flu, colds, and coronavirus. People have a false sense of security because of these masks and gloves and it will cause more harm than if people just used proper distance and good hand washing like they should have from the beginning.

  15. The school was billed as a 'pre-fab Notre Dame for evangelicals' when it was founded, and they've certainly made major strides. This school will very likely be the location for Trump's presidential library.

  16. Hey guys, you all know my love for all things UNT. You might not know that I am a huge Channing Tatum fan, as well. I figured that in these challenging times, where the man is trying to make us wear masks and everything, you might help me come up with a subforum here that reflects my twin passions: UNT and Channing Tatum. We'll take these suggestions to the mods and see what they think. Of course I chose the high poetry of anagram creation as our method of choice. Achtung NT Main! -- Doubles as a warning to the NT main campus. We should all be vigilant in these troublesome times. UNT Chat Naming -- Well, that is what this thread is about, isn't it? Ma UNT Thing Can -- Well, this one is a tad bit tawdry. I am blushing. A UNT Can Thing, M -- A nod to all our 007 fans! Also, The Tatum can totes play the role! An UNT Might Can -- A fun way to use the kid slang. Let's get the kids in here to see what all the fun is about! I'm "UNT CAN" Thang -- RU? GIANT UNT Can!, TM -- Strength in numbers! We'll get it trademarked! Woo! Or maybe we get a giant can for realz? No bad ideas! This is brainstorming! Ma, Can't. UNT nigh -- Let your mom know you can't even right now, you know? Because totes UNT!

  17. 1. You don't pay attention do you? People of color were definitely offended by this Biden quote. And you know it. 2. I guarantee you conservatives were bothered by this repulsive murder. Honestly, do you really think conservatives approve of the killing of "anyone", black, white, yellow, brown, the way Mr. Floyd was killed? Get some smarts, will you? 3. Many of his quotes are just plain stupid. There, you heard it from me. Happy now?

  20. Follow the money. AAC has 11 years left on a lucrative 12 year TV deal with ESPN. Each school makes an average of $7M per year. Adding more schools to AAC would dilute each school's share of the pie. And from all reports, AAC is in no hurry to fill the vacancy left by UConn last year. If AAC wants to reduce travel costs, they can easily schedule games with eager schools in the C-USA and Sun Belt. C-USA and Sun Belt TV deals are laughable compared to AAC. The C-USA TV deal pays us a paltry $200K per year. I couldn't find the exact numbers for Sun Belt but it's in the same ballpark. This disparity is why writers aren't suggesting an AAC merger with either conference.

  28. Not if the NCAA can appease the Power 5 schools to stay within the organization. Trust me, if they leave the NCAA, the Big East Basketball ain’t sticking around the NCAA either. You literally would see an entirely new basketball tournaments, College World Series’ For baseball and softball, Frozen Four for hockey, and Track championships. Right now, the NCAA gets FCS football on network TV and other non-entities of interest because of the network deals they sign. Good luck getting any TV money for your G5/FCS teams if the P5s pull away. We will see SEASONS of football and hoops on Facebook/YouTube/Hulu, etc...

  29. I have posted on This subject many times over the years. This will happen—either within the NCAA or outside of the NCAA. The top 65 schools have all their networks and media coverage, plus they own the state and federal legislatures. My guess is that the NCAA will let them have work own official category for football only, just so they don’t lose them for the College Basketball Tournaments, College World Series, or other college sports championships. Because if they split away From the NCAA, the network money goes away too. ESPN and CBS and NBC and Fox want the Power Conference top teams—which is why they accept the lower names in those leagues (Miss State, Wazzu, Iowa State, Wake Forest, and Northwestern as examples). The money, fans, and media are with those power schools. The NCAA knows this and will do whatever they can to keep those programs as happy as they can. Otherwise, they don’t exist in any way that is similar to today.

  30. I hope ESPN is is around to honor that contract, but I certainly wouldn't bet on it. Most realignment speculation is predicted on the end of the B12 contract which ends in 2025. The AAC deal also allows for flexibility with the addition or subtraction of teams. So AAC realignment is at least theoretically possible, although the financial consequences make it much more unlikely than other g5's.

  31. Sure wish we would've won more football games the past 4 years..... We're 27-25 playing the worst competition in the country, no bowl wins. Not sure that gets us any credibility with other conferences

  32. Agree that something like this makes sense for non-revenue sports. Also, agree that if we are really prioritizing travel costs then it makes little sense to limit to just two conferences. Where do you draw the line, though? We have the following FBS schools in Texas alone: North Texas, SMU, TCU, Texas Tech, UTEP, Baylor, UT-Austin, Texas St, UTSA, Texas A&M, Rice, Houston How desperate are each of these schools to cut costs? Probably to varying degrees. It seems highly unlikely that the P5 schools would ever consider this. I’m curious, though, if football and basketball should be treated fundamentally differently. Could a school have more than one conference affiliation? One for football and basketball, and another for non-revenue sports? If that is a possibility, then realignment options become more interesting. As it stands today, nothing resembling a true regionally focused realignment will occur. It will continue to be food chain based...

  33. I still don't understand the dropping of men's indoor track. The same athletes are involved in both indoor and outdoor track. There is no scholarship savings from eliminating the indoor program and leaving the outdoor. Most programs don't have indoor facilities so that is a factor, but it has to hurt your outdoor program.

  34. I’m a big soccer fan, but I’m the outlier American that really only follows MLS. Not Europe. Sure, I have the EPL or Bundesliga on TV for weekend mornings, but have no idea what the standings are or who’s been promoted/relegated. So I actually had no idea what was going to happen. That made it more fun. Ultimately, my takeaway is that Sunderland fans are basically NT fans wearing red/white and with British accents. Very similar experience.

  35. This is just simply not true. Why do you turn everything into some BS argument? No one died - but not true that "not one" got Covid 19. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/mar/30/liberty-university-coronavirus-student-positive-jerry-falwell-jr Also only 10% of their students stayed on campus. So ... of that 150 kids on campus, not attending classes in person, they remained safe. That is not too hard to believe, no? Not to mention a couple employees tested positive. But in a very Trump-ian move, Falwell is threatening to sue reporters that are reporting the cases.
