  1. Not sure why anyone would down vote a post of a timeline of COVID-19, unless they just don't like facts...

  2. If you bleed green then you’d realize what a counterproductive exercise it is to bash our players on the way out. Especially ones who have contributed all conference seasons and helped us win a conference title. It’s a terrible look on us.

  5. Lol. A buddy who is a huge OU fan and always down on UNT thought him trying to transfer was pretty fun. He said maybe he needs to get his mental state checked. 🤷🏼‍♂️

  6. You can take your awesome inside knowledge of a country hospital and the "wellness" industry and keep spouting lies about how these deaths are reported.. that's fine. It's just not accurate. My best friend is a director at FEMA, my other friend is emergency manager for a large city, his wife runs a state emergency department. My closest family member is director of safety and physician at one of the largest hospital chains... So please, keep telling me about how they are all lying about the causes of death. You guys want to be right so badly that it keeps you from doing right. Glibly, arguing about death numbers because it takes out more people with comprised immunity or diabetes or high cholesterol or any other myriad of issues that affects way more than 50% of our population is just callous and outrageous. If you don't flatten the curve, you impact everyone. Hospitals are overrun. Minute things become more deadly.

  12. The problem with this logic on Mo’s end, and @97and03 already pointed it out, is that Hamlet is a senior. If Mo had stayed his path would look like this: 20-21 season - Starting 2 guard and backup point guard for UNT as a redshirt junior 21-22 season - Chance to become starting point guard for UNT as a redshirt senior And by transferring his path looks like this: 20-21 season - sit out the whole season and burn his redshirt junior season 21-22 season - Chance to become starting point guard for the school he transfers to People keep saying he wouldn’t have a chance to become the starting point guard here because of Hamlet, but that’s not looking at the real opportunity cost here. He can’t start at point guard for any D1 school this season because he has to sit out. Then by the time he’d be eligible at his next school, Hamlet would be gone. So Hamlet really doesn’t present a valid explanation for transferring now.

  15. I've never gotten political, and yet I still think that a few posters here must think I have. To go back to the earlier point, nearly all people who die from the flu have underlying medical conditions or are elderly. Yet when it comes to this people are saying, "it's only killing people with underlying medical conditions!" The numbers from Italy so far would correspond to 80+ thousand Americans dying of this. And they're still losing hundreds of people per day, so on a per capita basis they are likely to go over and equivalent of 100K. Even Vice President Pence a couple of days ago said our curve looked like Italy.
    2 points
  16. Those numbers, H1N1, are readily available with minimal research. I have gone to work for the last couple of weeks in the hospital our company is affiliated with because our facility was shut down. I am in the middle of it every day of the week and have read CDC directives telling ME's to code all deaths COVID related if the person dies and has been exposed. For example, renal failure, on dialysis for a couple of years, in you 70's and they get exposed to COVID and die, death is coded to the virus without taking into consideration underlying conditions. it is wrong. I am not making shit up. I work in medical wellness. My facility was shutdown a couple of weeks ago and I have been working on our main hospital campus during this pandemic. I am updated daily so I can communicate to my employees, I sit in hospital director's meetings daily to get updates on the virus in our community and surrounding areas, so yes, I have inside and professional knowledge. I have seen the CDC directive. You are full of shit and offensive and reckless for making assumptions when you obviously are clueless.

  17. I'm not sure why you responded to me with these figures. Are you likening these "expected" deaths with a pandemic we haven't seen in our lifetime?
    2 points
  18. Yes, but the healthcare system factors in "expected" deaths. The reason hospitals get overwhelmed is because they already operate near capacity, so any unexpected cause gets to be a major problem very fast. Not only for people from the new cause, but for all the "regular" hospitalizations because there just aren't enough beds.

  19. Actually I read that in the New York Times about a week ago. They did not replenish N95 masks after 2009 H1N1 pandemic. The Bush administration had established stockpiles after 9/11.

  22. I agree. The fact Gibson believes he is an NBA talent and can demonstrate that somewhere else makes it evident he never got his degree. If he did he would be able to look at the numbers and see it isn’t happening. No one can be that naive...
    2 points
  23. Gibson won't be in the NBA and will most likely end up in Europe. He can play at UNT and still get notice by the Europe teams. The NBA is an elite league and I don't think Woolridge will be there and most likely be playing in Europe next year if he wants to continue playing basketball.
    2 points
  24. That seems logical to you and I, but put yourself in a 20-22 year old mind and ask that question. I know when I was that age, I didn't always make the decisions that were logical even though my parents and older people tried to tell me what was best. If his focus is NBA only, then he may not care about school as much. Hence the reason you have so many of those kids that like to do one and done. They never really wanted to be in school. They just view it as a necessary evil to get to the NBA since they can't go straight there from HS any longer. He is probably looking at Woolridge at Gonzaga and thinking he can get to a highly ranked program as well. He probably thinks that all he needs is one great year at a highly ranked program. Long shot? Yes. But, again, look at his age. Not saying all kids that age make bad decisions, but there are quite a few who don't make the best decisions. Then when you get older, you look back and say I wish I would have done so and so. Hindsight is always 20/20. I tend to think that three reporters not reporting him as a grad transfer is very telling.
    2 points
  25. Again, do you know that he can't graduate transfer after this academic year? I agree with you and others that his makes little sense if that is not the case. He will have completed three years at NT and it would have been easy for him to pick up the necessary hours to graduate in summer school. There is also the possibility that he could attend summer school this year. My bet is that he will be playing next year.

  26. At last year's CUSA basketball tournament I talked to two ODU members of their athletic department. They would move out of CUSA faster than the NFL Colts left Baltimore in the middle of the night for Indianapolis, hopefully to the AAC. In business its what do you want , what do you need, and what are you willing to pay for.Without a 2020 college football season universities who continue with a program are going to be forced to make hard decisions which become easier when there are no other choices. If UNT wants to continue football it will need reduce expenses in line with what it is willing and able to pay. You would think conference realignment with geographic friendly opponents would no longer be an option but an economic necessity, as well as dropping marginal sports programs. If you have less money coming in you must have less going out.
    2 points
  27. I don’t hold too high of hopes that the next round (if there is any) of realignment will benefit North Texas. Forgive me if I sound like a broken record but the AAC will not take us and my hope of joining the Mountain West is probably a pipe dream. North Texas is stuck in CUSA for the foreseeable future

  33. https://www.pilotonline.com/sports/colle...story.html A lot of really sad stuff here. including these things: - CUSA will give members about $1 million less than years past - Conference membership decisions need to be made” to reduce expenses and missed class time while generating more fan interest - All schools must be prepared for partial or total interruption of the 2020 football season.” - Losing the NCAA tournament resulted in a loss of $867 million Tough times for all I'm afraid.

  34. I will always call them out on their loyalty. I was even a bit miffed at Woolridge, but his is more understandable and with time I realized that. This is just an entirely absurd situation if he is leaving to play point guard (which he can’t play well) and to reach the nba (which he will never do). In fact it’s a disservice to Mo for anyone to propose this to him or back him in this endeavor. At this point (like a few players on the team) I wouldn’t want him back because he put his ego (which is incredibly misplaced) above the team. I believe loyalty is of the upmost importance and in sports almost always falls on the players. Don’t get me started on watching Jordan in a Wizards jersey or Patrick in a Magic Jersey. 😡

  42. Absolutely. They want to keep us down at every turn. Playing North Texas in basketball would only cement the perception even more that this is a legitimate rivalry. I’m not going to split hairs on whether or not they’re “scared” to play is but I will agree with you that they and I’ll add TCU will do whatever it takes to keep their pieces of the pie. One has Ft. Worth the other Dallas.
