  3. That's true in some respect and I see their point about independence. Yet, I think it obfuscates costs and resources and isn't the best for planning got big events like this.

  4. "We" is a funny term to use here. We are victims of this private insurance game. In Texas, hospitals for the most part are not legally capable of employing the physicians. They have to hire their 501c entity. So ... there is no employment to guarantee payment to the physicians. There is no call the arms to get them working. When the 501c folds from not being able to pay the bills (these 501c groups of multi-specialty groups - so when only one of the specialties collecting, the whole entity will ultimately fail) -- then the hospital will be understaffed even more because they can't hire physicians directly.

  5. guys... things are going really well.. .i just completed the 2021 season on NCAA 13... as an update, we moved to the Big 12 in 2020, and although the first two years have not produced a national championship, we have won the Rose Bowl... the flipping longhorns beat us last year though... we just fell behind early and couldn't make up the deficit. although there was a lot of pressure on me as the head coach, i decided to go ahead and sign a contract extension over the next 4 years to stay in Denton.

  6. Last night I dreamed I was attending a Mean Green football game at Apogee Stadium with a full house in attendance. Before the game started, the Army Golden Knights Parachute Team jumped (disclaimer: I was an Army paratrooper, but never close to being a Golden Knight). At the end of the game, we all ran out on the field and were not observing social distancing. So, what does it all mean? That maybe the quarantine was over, and we had defeated the virus? we played Army in a bowl game and beat them? who knows? But it was good to be there once more to see the Mean Green take the field. Okay, off to bed to see what comes next.

  7. It certainly helped me! I almost had forgotten about it. Troubling times don't get us down in Denton-town: Hey, if you're in this video (and you're not too embarrassed), point yourself out!

  8. My guess is because he left before classes actually started. It starts when you become a full-time student (12 hours or more), so I think just enrolling doesn’t start the timer but the actual attendance is what makes you a full-time student.

  9. I'll tell you what I wouldn't mind seeing..... Aune and Bean. I'm not talking about dual QBs, swapping series...I don't like that and it rarely works. But I wouldn't mine seeing Bean in short yardage situations. We could be tough to get off the field on 3rd and 2...
    1 point
  10. My guess is the Bean starts and the QB run game is actually part of the offense. We quit running Mason during his Sophomore year. With the depth we have, losing Bean to an injury isn't as big of a deal as losing Mason would have been. I look for 3 of them to play early since we don't have Spring ball. I also look for at least 2 of them to transfer at the end of the season. Too many are the same age.

  11. Eligibility question: If your clock starts ticking the day you enroll, and Aune actually enrolled at TCU, how did he not lose any eligibility while playing baseball?

  13. @ntmeangreen11, thanks for the "props". But as a person who was trained to teach history, I feel the need to keep things (as FFR said) in perspective. I yelled "we're getting out-coached" to the whole group of coaches who were making their way down the steps. It was only Mr. "everything is about me" who stopped and decided to get confrontational......very much against the counsel of his fellow coaches. I don't believe that Ramon Flanagan was going to try and get his hands around my neck. As he made his way up through the stands I made sure that my future daughter-in-law (a TCU grad) was on the other side of my son just in case an actual physical conflict happened. Since my balance had been compromised for several years (due do an inner ear infection that got out of hand), I then made sure that I was properly braced in case I was shoved or hit. As it turned out all RM wanted to do was yell and wave his arms and demand that I repeat what I said to his face......which I did. He was then either pulled away by his fellow coaches, or he decided that he had provided enough theater for the crowd, and left on his own. As fellow Mean Green fans quickly gathered around me I remember asking "who the hell was that?" I wasn't surprised when I was told that it was "Mr. spoiled and pampered SMU athlete/graduate". And now for some perspective. Several years before this (during the Corkey Nelson era) my wife (who had been regularly attending games with me) decided that we needed to stop sitting on the student side and go over and sit with the "grown-ups". So we did. Well, guess what? The "grown up" side was populated by the "polite-tennis-applause" crowd. My wife is not a loud obnoxious fan, even though she (like me) grew up in Decatur where the fans were famously loud and obnoxious. But after attending several home games that were hotly contested and observing that the "grown ups" never got any louder than the aforementioned "tennis applause and the occasional "attaboy", she turned to me and said "do these people know that they are attending a football game and not a tennis match?" I seem to have been installed in NT fan history as the only fan that has ever been verbally attacked by a coach....in the stands. And (ironically) for far less obnoxious behavior (yelling at the coaches/referees) than I had ever indulged in before. One other lesson here is that you don't have to curse or be otherwise vulgar in your behavior to get a huge rise out of someone...…..just yell the unvarnished truth at them....😎

  14. WKU is in a unique position. They are probably the second best program in the Kentucky/Tennessee region and coupled with their history of success, are attractive to kids from that area. To clarify, because I think it confused some, after Kentucky signs their national class, WKU is one of the most attractive programs in that region for kids that want to play close to home. They don't have a lot of competition around there. I would guess Cincy is pretty close as well. Just a thought.

  15. It’s really gonna be NT and WKU at the top. Now the age old question is, can WKU actually do anything with the loaded team? The world may never know

  16. We're now at the beginning of the spike if you examine the coronavirus fatality numbers in the USA. Let's hope we're not gonna be like Italy, but at first glance it is not encouraging. I'm picking March 19th as the start date to look at because that is the first day we lost over 50 people to the illness. March 19 - 57 deaths March 20 - 49 deaths March 21 - 46 deaths March 22 - 111 deaths March 23 - 140 deaths March 24 - 225 deaths March 25 - 247 deaths To compare to Italy, they haven't had a day with less than 100 deaths since March 9th. The last day they had under 300 deaths was March 14th, the last under 400 was March 17th, and the last under 600 was March 19th. We are over five times more populated than Italy. This isn't gonna end for a long time.

  17. We can always agree on glory to the green, indeed. I was 14, and like two rows back from the man with the blinking hat who rightfully proclaimed "we're getting outcoached" and then stood his ground and didn't cower even 1% when asked to repeat what he said to Flanigans face. @SilverEagle You sir are a legend. I did not remember that was the same game, good times! And I have a confession to make, I believe said security guard in questions frustrations started because they were hit a few times when touchdowns weren't being scored (by some incredibly immature HS freshman including myself). Some incredibly nice guy gave us a handful of home side seats that night instead of our usual $5 general admission tickets, little did we know two historic events in mean green fandom history would occur that night in those very stands.

  18. I apologize,, I didn’t intend that to come across as me having more perspective. Your comment just made me laugh after earlier having seen Nadler’s post. And great memory on the Tortilla game although I didn’t actually get escorted out. PD asked me to go to the tunnel in the stands so they could hear. They came down to ask what was going on in regards to a fight with a security guard starting shit with people in the stands and there was so much commotion we couldn’t hear each other so we moved the conversation to the tunnel and that caused a damn near riot because everyone thought I was getting the boot. It did freak my son out a little though. Then afterwards, if that wasn’t enough, after I left to go back to my seat and PD left to walked around to the outside to go to the field to go talk to the security guard...I walk up just in time at my seat to see Ramon Flanagan trying to get his hands around @SilverEagle ‘s neck and see my section of seats fighting him and the coaches in a melee. It was a freaking mess! God I can’t believe we all lived through that era? Only at North Texas. But it just proves we have the very best, most passionate fan base in the land. Rick

  19. The other side of the 'not hospital employed' argument is that when you are in a 'you eat what you cut' mode, then you aren't truly out of the model it is accusing the hospitals of using. When a doctor needs to see x number of people to cut even, xy to survive or xyz to thrive (but run a cute rate style of practice) ... What do you think they will do? A salary from a hospital will eliminate that. And allow for planning budgets and growth and move physicians where most needed.
    1 point
  20. Considering how much the public pays in monthly health premiums, maybe we could give the hospitals all they need and pass the bill onto the health insurance agencies.

  21. WKU is the CUSA flagship basketball program based on their history. With Bassey returning after an injury redshirt and Hollingworth who I thought was the second best player in the league last year, WKU will be loaded nest year.. Add in freshman senaation Rawls plus Carson Williams and they will be favored to win the league. NT will return 4 starters from their championship team, but I don't think they repeat unless they can get some difference making recruits. Bell, Simmons, Reese, Hamlet and Gibson are not going to be enough to win CUSA. NT must get help in the front court. The very positive is to look at McCasland last class. That group particularly the transfers was excellent. With a championship year to sell, McCasland should do even better this recruiting year.

  22. I agree that's completely unnecessary, I'm not sure why that means you have perspective and I don't but okay. You are holier than thou I get it. At least I haven't been kicked out of a game for viciously throwing tortillas at rent a cops. Keep in mind I'm not a democrat I'm someone who can see the stupidity on both sides. And I'm joking about the tortillas, I was in the stands when you were wrongfully thrown out lol. I am a Mean green fan first so I will keep from these forums as I know good and dang well I'm not changing any minds, Go mean green.

  28. It is obvious that during your JMPI your Jumpmaster repeatedly failed to check your modified chin strap assembly. This in conjunction with a piss poor PLF resulted in your brain pan slamming against the drop zone. Depending on which Company you were in jump school this was referred to as ate up, soup sandwich, or ooh ahh medivac and quite possibly all three. You should probably beat your boots. I am sure as any good paratrooper you embraced the suck and drove on in a LGOP to create chaos, or since you were at Bragg you got your ass off or Sicily and Normandy. Please ensure while you continue your drinking as a combat sport (yes to a paratrooper drinking is a sport) you ensure your slide fastener is in the up and secured position, your PT belt is safely secured low around your waist, sit back and enjoy your flight. The DZSO says winds are 3-5 knots. We will get your knees in the breeze shortly. I have found in my old age, that I no longer call them dreams, it is more along the line of "my check liver light is on, did that really happen?" Jumpers remove your head from your fourth point of contact and Hit It!

  33. But there are plenty of those that fact check Presidents, politicians and the like. Trump lies more than anyone in government, past or present, and its not even close. So who exactly wants to be lied to? Please help me understand how someone supports this President. I truly want to know.

  34. This is so hard for Trump’s fans. A lot of them are folks who would never do/say some of the things he’s done/said.... so they’re forced to dodge this very simple question because their truthful answer might make them look hypocritical.

  35. I am, yes. They're pretty stigmatized. I mean, It was a very simple question ("Is he a good person?")... but you have your reasons to tap-dance. I don't care why, it's just an observation. I didn't vote for President Obama, and I didn't agree with several of his stances, but I'd feel fine saying he's a good person. Another odd thing about the same kind of person I'm talking about is that for some reason, any kind of criticism of the President Trump is taken personally instead of just a criticism of yet another corrupted, selfish, elected official. No, for some reason, Trump's fans feel the need to defend this scumbag like he's their own son because they put a check next to his name on a ballot one time. That person is not you, is it? I did get a mysterious "-1" just before your post... Would you give a flip if people were saying the same things about Representative Burgess? John Cornyn? I assume you put checks next to their names as well. Face it: President Trump ain't a "good person".

  36. But both of those examples seem political, and not testimonies of his character. Again, there are tons of political reasons I'm not a fan of President Obama, but he seems to be a good person. Not a perfect person, no one is, but someone I could at least trust to not purposefully inflame an already fragile relationship with a cold rival by referring to a global pandemic as "The Chinese Flu" or "Kung Flu". How sorry is that? Let's not even bring up where he likes to grab unwitting females, or the very odd comments about his own daughter that 99.99999999% of fathers would never even think, let alone say.

  37. The Iran-US Claims Tribunal acknowledged this as a debt that we owed. Obama did not voluntarily or willingly handed a bunch of free cash over to a known terrorist country. Maybe Obama could have ignored/delayed it. I think Trump would have just made a circus out of this. He probably wouldn't pay it, but it would be an idiot move. The debt was internationally recognized and would not just disappear. Was there interest on it? I don't know. I voted for Obama, but did not like some of his Presidential moves. Inversly, I am okay with some of Trumps efforts. Right now, I think the entire political environment is a mess. I wish Trump never had a mic again, that he'd just shut up and do his job. His language - unlike Obama - is mostly divisive (IMO). Not a man I would consider full of grace.

  38. If you're 60+ and a republican how are you watching this clown show unfold and thinking "Well, I'm probably going to be hospitalized and potentially die but at least the libtards aren't winning?" Now claiming the libtards are blocking the financial bill because they just want to screw the public out of money when I don't think anyone, red or blue can comprehend why on Earth 500 billion dollars to people who don't need it is included? That's common sense, shouldn't be political. Texas Lt Gov last night on Fox news saying grandparents should just go ahead and swallow the sword, get this infection, die, and secure the economy for the younger generation. Pretty easy to say as Lt Gov when you're guaranteed a respirator. Man all of the above has the devils fingerprints all over it and ya'll are complicit in blindly following the spray tan yankee who acts more like the anti christ than someone you want to follow in a time of crisis. Remember when they asked Trump what his favorite bible verse was in 2015? He couldn't recite one. Not one. I can vividly remember people claiming Obama was the anti christ, I wonder what caused that? His actions and words or skin color? yeah the latter, and nothing more. Keep supporting the spray tan yankee people, he really cares about us southern folk. To beat this all we gotta do is grab it by the pussy as our great christian leader once said.

  39. Acting like a museum and Main Event are the same thing is bizarre.
    -1 points
  40. There is every kind of museum under the sun and they certainly are not all equal in their importance to society. That said museums are not just leisure and entertainment. The majority of museums primary roll is to educate. As a corollary, you have been giving your hard earned money to the airlines to transport you around this earth, sell you snacks, and charge you for everything else under the sun. When times were good with free cash flow these airlines could have been paying down debt, increasing their cash position, increasing efficiency and investing in all facets of their company thus improving shareholder value AND creating a fiscally stronger company that is better prepared to handle tough economic environments. Instead they only focused on the "shareholder value" part of the sentence and took a shortcut. They did this: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-03-16/u-s-airlines-spent-96-of-free-cash-flow-on-buybacks-chart You get to pay twice for your flights now. Listen it all sucks and is frankly against the American way. But if we are bailing people out I am no more mad about the money to the museums as I am the money to the airlines. This example can be applied to many more companies as well. It just sucks but I suppose is necessary.

  41. Do not read if you are looking for light sports' fare. NT depends on student fees for almost all of its revenue. No school, no students, no teams. This current catastrophe will have far reaching consequences. It certainly has the potential to end collegian sports as we have known them. If this coronavirus continues, I would think that a lot of AD department personnel including coaches are going to be very quickly unemployed, I don't think it is a question of do you want to keep coaches and staff as much as can you even pay their salaries and benefits. When it comes to funding medical expenses, and keeping the economy going: is paying coaches even a blip on the radar. I love NT sports, but paying coaches; millions of dollars does not make sense in the current environment. Hopefully, this disaster abates soon and both football and basketball will be played. I don't like the odds, but there is still hope.
