It's getting to the point where we need to pin this comment to the top of every basketball thread.8 points

Man, there's a lot of people on this board with low basketball IQ. That was a HIGH level game between two really good teams. Every analytics program out there predicted this to be a tossup. We came into the day 12-2 in conference play. We've never been 12-2 in any conference. And for those of you only bitching about 3s, the reason we were 12-2 was we shoot really good from 3. We're top 10 in the country shooting 3s. The two by Zach and Deng were bad (even though wide open) but most of the others were good looks. We hit even 1 and we win. La Tech is an experienced team with something to prove. It's the two best teams in the league in my opinion. If we played 10 times, we'd be 5-5. There's a reason La Tech won at Miss State. We still shot over 50% from the field overall which is really good. We're 12-3 with a 1 game league on the two teams tied for 2nd. We control on our own destiny. Bracey made some incredible shots with defenders in his jock strap. Last time we played he was 2-15. Chill out and help the team win a damn trophy.7 points

They ARE NOT EXTRA. We have always played 18 conference games since entering CUSA.6 points
-
I feel like LaTech and UNT are the top horses in this CUSA race, but WKU and Charlotte can easily spoil the fun. For any of you thinking that WKU is in a tailspin, I would suggest to never never never discount the Toppers when it comes to postseason play.4 points

If we only get 1, it's gotta be an every-down, double-team-commanding, block-eating, QB-pressuring, Run-game-disrupting, Defensive Tackle. If we get more than 1, then that same guy, plus any number of stud O-Linemen. We're fine at WR with Darden and the emergency of Shorter. Simpson will only get better as well.3 points

Agreed pod play is awesome, that game Saturday was so much fun except for the result. Even with the loss it still would increase SOS which is what matters when getting into the tourney.3 points
-
We have a deeper problem as a league than bonus play. The quality of teams right now makes it a one bid league. Not the fact we do pod play.3 points
-
They aren't bonus games, even if people call them that. Pod play is more appropriate. Games that are extra (like say...extra tournament games) are bonus. These games are part of a regular league schedule. It's a different way of scheduling them, but we aren't playing more league games than we otherwise would have.3 points

I’m with you, a Pat Mahomes type quarterback can do wonders for a program. He propped Kingsbury up for several years out in Lubbock and I don’t care if you sign the unblockable ghost to play defensive tackle, if the offense can’t score points, it won’t make a damn bit of difference. I’ll direct you to the 2014 North Texas football team for any evidence you need of a good defense being overwhelmed by the piss poor performance of their counterparts on offense. We had some good players left on offense but weren’t left with a FBS-level quarterback after DT graduated.2 points

Pod play does increase the strength of schedule. Strength of schedule is the chief determiner of bracket rankings. Thus pod play DOES give teams in the top pod the best chance of being ranked ranked higher if they get into the NCAAs. It's math, folks. However, it is still up to the teams to actually WIN.2 points

Eh, you probably have a fair argument, but I would argue most places really don't care where your degree is from.2 points

Well, they hammered UTSA yesterday so that should help. When you only have three bench players available and a ton of Freshman playing. You tend to have a tough season. Those Fr got a lot of experience this year.2 points

NT has a better football team than any of those schools. Joking, but even attempting to escape my bias: I would argue those are not overall equivalent institutions.2 points

Shooting from pregame carried over into the game. I sat there watching LaTech practice threes. Seemingly their entire team didn’t miss for several minutes on end. Meanwhile on the other end we were clanging bricks, esp Gibson. Sometimes it carries over into the game and sometimes it doesn’t. Yesterday, LaTech was just feeling it from the first minute they stepped onto the court and we weren’t. My only complaint is that I would’ve liked us to recognize that and do more to work the ball around and inside. We are a fantastic free throw shooting team. We need to leverage it in games like this one where the other team is killing it from outside. Slow the game down and try to get them out of rhythm while playing to one of your strengths.2 points

Agree. I'm heartbroken we lost although I'm 4 beers into making it better. However, that was a BIG time game. Anyone that wasn't entertained didn't know what the hell they were watching.2 points

This is one cluster f and I expect this to be the last year of this dumb format.2 points

Before all the over reactionary people get started we lost this game for one reason and one reason only. We shot 18% from three...they shot 50%2 points

I agree. I graduated last spring and donated $25 to the athletic program. I have a good amount of student loans that I’m paying off, but $25 for the whole year isn’t a ridiculous sacrifice.2 points

You just don't get it. Those that are legally trying to enter will go to points of legal entry instead of just walking across. Those trying enter illegally, like the caravans funded by God know who, stop, don't try any longer or build tunnels, etc... There will always be those trying to enter illegally, so why not make it more difficult? It's kind of like the fence around Apogee. It funnels people to the gates to enter legally insuring they paid. Why not just take it down and let people come through wherever they please. Those we catch that haven't paid, well, we will send them back out only to catch them another day.1 point

Incorrect. Where are you getting this info? My best guess is you read - correctly so - that once the tiers are set, teams cannot jump down/up into other tiers. But as the final 4 games play out, teams can move up or down the standings...within their tier. So a top team, like UNT at first place, can potentially fall as far as 4th or 5th in the standings. If you're in Tier 1 (the top pod) you are guaranteed a seeding no worse than 5.1 point

How so? It would be better for WKU to lose to the MUTS on the road? All year people were praising our tougher schedule even when we lost but suddenly when our conference schedule is tougher people want to whine...1 point

If your talking "Game Changer" I would have to go with a QB. A QB that is truly a "game-changing, day 1-starting, rolex-wearing, transfer stud" Although, if your talking a Chase Young talent I can see where he would be hard to pass.1 point

If he's correct, AND we manage to get two upsets to make the Sweet 16, it'd be here in LA. HOLY COW, that would be the highlight of my sports life.1 point

I much rather lose to La Tech and WKU than Rice. Last year I wasn’t a fan but after another season and really trying to explore the idea I really like it. It also makes it better for the bottom seeds who are trying to fight for the last spots into the conference tournament. It benefits everyone.1 point

Watched his video again. Would love to see us lock this young man up. Very impressive.1 point

Watching Bracey at the end felt like watching Doolittle take over at the end for OU. On us for not shooting better throughout the game but not a lot you can do about Bracey. Having a better rim protector than Simmons could’ve stopped Bracey there, but we just don’t have that unfortunately.1 point

How do you think those institutional funds are generated? The vast majority of those funds are generated by student tuition. As for as your reasons for tuition rising, seems to be about the same as I stated. Other than you erroneously believe that athletics are not substantially funded by tuition. Plus I would disagree with your assertion of the increasing value of a college degree. If anything, people are realizing that the value of a college degree is questionable. Due both to the increase in cost and the availability of higher paying non-degree required jobs.1 point

Yes, assuming. Of course. I suppose you're trying to discredit the very simple logic because I'm not a border patrol agent? That's odd. We're not Mean Green Football coaches, yet here we are on GMG.com opining. I guess the proof will be in the pudding when we've spent Billions of dollars on walls, yet nothing changes.1 point
