  9. Hard to believe that new are in our 10th year, but such is the case. We are set for the 10th ANNUAL UNT SPIRIT FUNDRAISER EVENT! This year a tad earlier due to scheduling conflicts, but, we have secured the UNT SOFTBALL COMPLEX for our event this year...keep all fingers and toes crossed for good weather this year! Since KICKBALL was such a big success last year...we are doing kickball once again. We will "kick-off" at 11:00am on Saturday, MARCH 21st at 11:00am at the UNT Softball Complex off Bonnie Brae Rd in Denton. Registration fee for player (which includes the "collectors item t-shirt of course) is still only $35.00 per player. This is a CO-ED EVENT, so come one...come all! WE will once again include a silent auction with all kinds of goodies to bid on...UNT and non-UNT items...AND...once again we will have some yummy brisket sandwiches available for those interested. We do have a couple of back-up dates should the weather not cooperate, so please take note of these dates as well...Sunday, March 22nd and Sunday March 29th. So, what do we need...(1) Players, (2) Silent Auction Items, (3) Sponsors, (4)) Silent Auction Bidders and (5) Spectators...if nothing else, please come out and support our event. The more folks that come, the easier it is to continue to obtain UNT Athletic Department and UNT Division of Student Affairs help and support. So, yep, we need ya! Here are the appropriate links: SIGN-UP TO PLAY HERE: https://one.unt.edu/annual-spirit-classic CAN'T PLAY, BUT WANT TO HELP WITH A DONATION OF ANY AMOUNT: https://one.unt.edu/annual-spirit-classic-donation-page QUESTIONS? Ask them here (other folks may have the same question) or PM me here on GMG.Com. I am sure I have left something out. So, check back here from time to time as I will use this thread to keep everyone updated as we progress toward game day.

  10. I don’t know that there’s one in particular other than just that this is a more talented team. Mccasland identified 4 transfers (Reese, Hamlet, Geu, and Bell), he recruited them hard, got them on visits, and sealed the deal. I think even he may have been a bit surprised to land all 4, which is why they took some time to announce Bell and make sure an extra roster spot was cleared up for him (ended up being Tikhonenko). All 4 of those guys are just good ball players and 3 of them can hit 3s while the other one is Geu who brings us so much everywhere else. In our 8-man rotation we just have so much more shooting than we have under Mccasland and defense has never been an issue.

  11. I agree on Simpson...very solid when he was in the game! And just as I thought when I watched him play in the 2018 state championship game (Beaumont Westbrook vs. Longview), I believe he is going to be a big-time player for the Mean Green!

  25. The biggest thing with Hamlet over Ryan is Hamlet can score with the ball in his hands in the paint, in the mid-range, and from 3. Ryan was pretty much just able to score off the dribble in the paint. He could hit a catch-and-shoot three okay, but not as the ballhandler. Ryan was great, but he wasn’t complicated to defend.

  26. Just listened to the Jan 5 edition of Brune's Breakdown pod. They have a segment talking about how we catered to Ryan so much last season, and his departure + the new talent has really allowed us to open up offensively. Ryan was so much run-run-run, that we apparently were limited in our half court game?

  27. I have a very similar situation with a family of five. Then, when I hear reports of about 2000 people at the game, I get even more frustrated. What’s the harm in having a family of five get in for $50 or less when the place isn’t 20% full?

  41. First, I'd like to see Seth come out and simply say, "I'm committed to making North Texas a winner. I like it here in Denton and I'm not interviewing for any other job." I think this voval commitment would do wonders for his reputation with high school coaches. Second, as Wardly pointed out, he went 4-8 after everyone expected him to win the west. And thirdly, I'm anxious to see how Seth does without a magician at QB.

  42. Seth comment I am here to build a winner. My wife and family like living in the area until the next coaching job opens up. If he wants out of here so bad why not resign and spend his time interviewing full time. How much commitment can you have to a program when you are out seeking employment elsewhere. Growing tried of the SL watch.
