I don’t get the love for Yellock. Our pass rush was non-existent this year. If you are giving him a pass for “did good for what he had to work with” then you have to do the same with Reffett. I think this was a great time to thank him for his service and move on, we can do better.7 points

Per GMG sources Langston and Yellock will not return for the 2020 season. Will give new OC and DC their pick for line coaches.6 points

https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/one-dead-two-wounded-after-shooting-reported-at-white-settlement-church/2283225/ I’m proud to say I’ve known Jack Wilson for many years. He’s an excellent marksman and his training and quick action saved many yesterday. God bless him. Rick3 points

Never could crack the 2 deep chart and left the program last week. http://www.espn.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/227147/kievan-myers3 points

If I had to make a list of guys I like on that list I would put. Hamdan Beck Johns I would be pumped with either of those.3 points

I’m wondering if this means we’re close to announcing a hire? Does this mean the new guy wanted to bring in his own staff? I also wonder why we haven’t yet hired someone. We got an early enough start on the hiring process. Jobs are getting filled elsewhere. Are we making a splashy hire with someone who’s waiting to get past a bowl game or two? i sometimes also wonder why the sky is blue...3 points

Langston had to go. He'll have plenty of jobs waiting for him to choose from in the Golden Triangle. Yellock probably did too, but I would have liked to have seen what he could have done without having to constantly move his best 3-techs to Nose because the depth there was so bad... or see what he could have done with a 4 down linemen front. I hope he lands on his feet somewhere.3 points

Hopefully with Yellock he gets to interview for his job. He turned Novil into a hell of a NT. Not his fault they only rushed three most of the year.2 points

This would have been a perfect bowl game for us in 2019: off graduation weekend, perfect sunny day, close location, 25,000 wearing Mean Green. I went to the cotton bowl and let me tell you, I can’t wait to get back. Win or lose those penn state and Memphis fans partied before and after the clash. Don’t rush this staff. Build it right with hungry experienced developing leadership. FAU is setting a nice bar as the beast of the east. Time to create the best in the west. GMG2 points

Hate to see Yellock go, thought he did a pretty good job with what he had to work with.2 points

Seems as though we play WKU on the road 75% of the time. Feels like they beat us 90% of the time no matter where we play. Huge game to start league action.1 point

Try to bring Johns or Cumbie, both would be solid picks at this point1 point

I thought we had a shot if he wanted to stay in Texas and be an OC. Knew he would have to take a pay cut1 point

Would hiring both Cumbie and Meacham be possible? I mean they did great things together at TCU and then they both kinda went down hill when they split.1 point

You have probably never heard of Sterlin Gilbert and Matt Mattox.1 point

Langston was, as the kids say, ass my dude. Yellock specialized more in the 3 man front(why he was hired in the first place), I hope this denotes more of a shift to a 4 man front with Bowen.1 point

I get this, but I think they have a huge amount of input. If a coordinator feels strongly about a particular guy, I would imagine most HCs are going to adjust. See Seth Doege and John David Baker landing at USC with Graham Harrell.1 point

did we actually have a chance at landing Beck? I just want to know, based on our pay range, who do we actually have a shot at landing?1 point

We really need to get this done before all of the competent OC options are gone.1 point

Langston was a no brainer once recruiting was done. Regarding Yellock, I don't think there's a strong case to keep anyone on the defensive side of the ball. Let Bowen get who he thinks fits.1 point

This is as good a shot as we’ve had at them in a while. Even though we had them at home last year, we just weren’t good enough offensively to really have a shot. We’re playing well and are road tested, and probably have more depth than them at the moment. Without Bassey if we can just keep their shooters like Savage and Justice under control from deep, I really like our chances. Reese likely gets Hollingsworth, as he usually gets the other teams’ top perimeter scorer. He has done great this year in that role.1 point

Well it wouldn't hurt for us to drink some of their cool aid because they seem to get results.1 point

You may not realize that Freddie Kitchens was never an offensive coordinator at any level before last year. He also was not named OC until game 9 and only on an interim basis because the actual OC (Todd Haley) had been fired along with Hue Jackson.1 point

Well. At least with Kellen, the opposing DC can be 90% confident every 1st down play would be a run off tackle. Dude is way to plain vanilla.1 point

I think we are waiting for bowl game to finish and for coaching carousel to die down. No need rushing out to make a hire. still a couple weeks away before recruiting picks back up.1 point

I saw him on special teams playing. He isn't touching the ball. Their other rbs are having really good years..1 point

Not only that but I was hearing that Beck would be let go either after the bowl game or after the regular signing day in February.1 point

Stop analyzing that in a silo. We have the third highest NET ranking in CUSA heading into conference play. We had a good non-conference showing.1 point

I disagree. FAU spend more than twice what we spend, and they focus on recruiting locally in Florida, and would have few flights also. What are they doing that we are not?1 point

Looking at his top 5, I would venture to guess that he probably has relatives in the Toledo area since BG and Toledo are both in the area. Secondly, Alcorn and Alabama A&M are two popular HBCUs and I think that probably played a big part in his decision. Now FAU, I am not sure about. However, if he chose Alcorn and Alabama A&M based on race, then maybe he chose FAU because the HC is African American. I am just spitballing here, but I am sure those were the conversations in his house. May not be politically correct, but sometimes it is that way. I could be totally wrong as well.1 point

This is my point. Leavitt is the level of hire we should have aimed for, and why I question the Bowen hire. The down voters on here won't like reading this, but hires like Leavitt are why FAU has two C-USA conference titles and we don't.1 point

“I hope that they realize that not only as an administration but as people, you can’t just throw people away,” Tyler said. “Whenever they don’t serve you, or whenever they don’t. Whenever you don’t like that they’re doing whatever they’re doing for you. I hope that we all can do better.” Makes sense.1 point
