  1. Harry's correct that's Bruzzy on the left. Great supporter of the University! I think this puts him at over 5 million in giving to academics and athletics, which by my calculations puts him just above Ben Gooding on the list 😂

  2. As much as I love Mason, for some reason it is hard for me to see him being drafted. I really hope he does, but I think a lot of teams are going to be concerned about durability.

  4. Because we've whiffed on OLine recruiting for years, and we don't have the correct OL coach to make lemonade out of lemons. Plain & simple. EDIT: The interior linemen have been OK. Tackles (outside of Mayfield) have not.

  13. This season has been a dissapointment - no doubt. Recruiting was poor the first few years of Seth's career as a head coach and we won close games that made our progress feel a bit ahead of schedule. This year we have seen a regression as some of that good fortune has worn off and we have seen some of the recruiting holes exposed. SL is a young coach and he is learning, his recruiting wasn't where it needed to be. After some adjustments and staff changes the past two recruiting cycles have been greatly improved. He isn't perfect but with WB's help they can fix the defensive issues with similar success. The resources are in place to become a dominant team in the conference. Before Wren & SL there was zero demand for our coaches and staff. You didn't have to worry about other schools poaching our ranks, in fact they often had to take demotions to keep coaching see Cosh at the University of Delaware etc. We have something building, there will be some year to year turbulence at times but the facilities, athletic performance and national reputation of our school is improving yearly. Wren just posted the best winning % across athletics in decades and the University is setting records in athletic donations and fundraising. Now with a down season some are losing faith. I'm not a sunshine pumper but food for thought - in the past year SL, WB and NS have all been recruited and turned down offers from other Universities for more $. This fact says more about the state of things than poorly reasoned posts. I challenge you to find a time where our AD, admin and coach have all been of interest to other schools. A good team is in place, but if as a fan base we are constantly threatening to yank support and dragging them on social media they might just see those dollar signs and move on to greener pastures. Just five short years ago our entire budget/finances were in shambles we had Benford finding creative way to lose with stacked teams, Peterson going an almost impossible 5-24 and Mac's wheels falling off in the standings and recruiting. I appreciate what is now in place and will continue to support it. GMG.

  15. North Texas stadium fumbles among worst football venues in college sports What an oddly written headline. I get they're going for some sort of pun, but 'fumbles' doesn't work in this sentence, so it doesn't make sense on any level. Am I missing something?

  16. This list is so bad, that Fouts would have been rated better than Apogee. Pure garbage.

  17. This is just crazy. The article is a rehash of another article. And the premise of the original is a stadiums "value" is directly tied to attendance and nothing else. Based on that, the smaller the stadium the higher the "value!" It doesn't take into account any kind of financials beyond straight ticket sales and even gets those wrong by making the assumption all of the seats are the same "value."

  18. It's a bullshit list by people who never go to sporting events. I've seen these types of lists before, for other venues. They're always bullshit and nowhere near accurate.

  19. I don't think we'll be that bad. Lunardi has us as next 4 out right now. We made the NIT last year and wouldn't surprise me if we did again this year but Musselman is a better coach than Anderson was and Isaiah Joe-Mason Jones should be one of the best guard combos in the SEC. We have finished higher than projected almost every single year in the last decade. We'll get better once we get our starting center back from suspension too. It's still early. We beat a Rice team by 48 who beat Penn, who beat Alabama. I was impressed with your defense and there will be nights when your shots fall better than they did last night. If you judge the whole season based on results from the first few games then Kentucky will be lucky to make the tournament.

  21. Well, if he can play behind a line that doesn’t get him crushed over and over, his durability will increase immensely. He’s broken down this year for two reasons: this OL sucks ass and he’s taken 4 years worth of a beating because his line play has never been real solid. His marquee play against UTSA in 2017 said all you need to know about him—knew the hit was coming from the blitz straight up the guy with nobody even touching the defender, threw a perfect strike, got crushed into the turf and barely was able to get up. Mason Fine won us many games that many more “talented” QBs couldn’t have done in his career. I give SL credit for having the contact in OK to get him here when he looked at the QBs here and knew immediately that Fine as freshman from podunk Oklahoma was already way better than anyone on the roster. But I give Mason the credit for making SL look like this great young coach. I’m telling you that without Fine, SL will have a lot to prove, most likely losing out on the P5 gig because Fine will be gone.

  33. OK...here comes a bye week rant on why I have completely changed my view of Seth Littrell. It has everything to do with how I view my "relationship" with UNT Athletics. My "relationship" has always been an emotional one....similar to most alumni. I'm a UNT Homer....I'll admit it. I'll defend everything UNT to the death. Administrators, Coaches, especially Players. I defended Simon, Dickey, Dodge, McCarney....I even defended RV for a while until I just couldn't take it anymore. And I was all in on Littrell and viewed him with patience for this rebuild....right up until he and his agent dangled KState (which I still say wasn't real) and basically forced his way into becoming the highest paid coach in the conference....heavily based on media hype including that damn punt return. (Make no mistake....Littrell got as much leverage out of that play as UNT did) In essence, what Littrell said was "I'll stay here and keep building....as long as you pay me more money." I'm not saying it's wrong to do that. I'm not saying it’s wrong to "play the game," and I'm not saying it's wrong to use leverage.... However, from that point.....my view on Littrell was no longer through an emotional lens but now a transactional one. It's all transactional now. Tougher schedule? Nope....earn your money. Injuries? Nope....earn your money. Tough rebuild? Nope....earn your money. Historical challenges? Nope.........Just Win. My view on Littrell is now solely based on the pay day HE wanted and got. When he says something that may be emotional, ("This is home, my family loves it here, this place is unbelievable") I now make sure to add the transactional part behind it, the condition: "as long as they pay me more money." So I don't care about the rest of it. Earn your money. I don't care that Littrell says "this is home" because what I hear is "this is home....as long as you pay me more money." So here's the other side to that. Since it's all transactional at this point....I will donate to the program....as long as you win. I will renew my season tickets....as long as you win. I will come to the games.....as long as you win. That transaction goes both ways. The AD expects my unconditional support yet the head coach's own view of UNT is based solely on conditions....it doesn't go both ways. My support for the football program will be conditional. You win, I support. That's the deal. So, if you don't win....I don't want you here. All transactions. You better out recruit the other coaches in the conference.........or you can leave. Get us a championship........or you can leave. All transactions. I know...."hey any coach is going to entertain bigger jobs" I get it. I'm not naive. I know coaches aren't doing this for free. But you better believe there are expectations that come with that. And his 4th year has been a monumental failure. He is the highest paid coach in the conference and ANYTHING short of winning it is a failure and especially getting buried like he has this season. And he hasn't won anything of substance yet. EVER. But he wanted to be paid like he had. When he forced our hand, his benefit of the doubt was gone...no excuses. "What did you expect? For him to not ask for more money?" Of course not. But he did and he got it. Now....if he doesn't win a championship in the next.....2 years? He should be fired. Period. That will be 6 years and he hasn't won the worst conference in FBS. Think about that. And I didn't set that expectation, Littrell did. So Win or Leave. That's the deal. And this may piss some people off because I know he's untouchable...but Wren Baker's expectation better be the same because if it's not....then he's going to need to answer for why he gave Littrell the money he did yet didn't expect championships in return. I don't care that they're young up and comers and buddies.....deliver for your fan base the way you expect your fan base to deliver for you in support and attendance. That delivery is wins. All the shiny new stuff is hollow if it doesn't produce wins. Without wins there's no substance to any of it. And if Littrell can't take advantage of it...get someone in here that will. We showed....now you show. I don't know if we fully appreciate what an unbelievable disaster this season has been and I don't see it getting any better anytime soon. He better figure it out in the off season because I believe his checks are still going to come to him....If he figures it out....and he wins the conference next year for the first time (in his 5th year).....I'll renew in 2021. If you have a problem with that mindset....then you must really have a problem with Littrell because he did the same thing to your alma mater. He doesn't give two shits about UNT.....he has conditions for being here....lots of money. And now so do I. The condition is, show me wins and then I'll support. Not the other way around. I'm Wren Baker and Seth Littrell's customer...they are not mine. The burden is on them....not me. It's all Transactions from now on Littrell: "I love this place as long as they pay me lots of money" Me: "I support Littrell as long as he wins championships" Pretty simple in my eyes.

  34. I'm not calling for him to get fired.....yet But his window is closing. He got the big fat deal. So now he needs to give a return on it. He should be able to win this conference....if that's not the expectation then why did they pay him all that money.

  35. We have a long way to go but we have also come a long way. Not that long ago we were losing to bad teams. This season is a disappointment and with Mason gone next year will be hard year unless we can some how find a defense. I will buy my season tickets and being excited if we win and ok if we lose. I just will have to lower my expectations some. I doubt I ever see another qb here like Mason Fine in my lifetime. It is to bad he had to play with a weak ol and this year a bad defense.

  38. I don’t know where we are going to be 3 point shooting and free throw attempts from this year, but we have to improve in those areas to see a step forward this year. A lot of people bringing up height, but it’s not like we aren’t getting rebounds. Our guards are shooting a lot of 3s (which they should given their skillsets), but not making them. We could really use 17-18 Smart right now.

  39. Yeah, pretty much. No matter what era, kids will always fall through the cracks and there will always be late bloomers. Which again goes back to a numbers game. There are more 3 stars drafted in the NFL every year than 5 stars and 4 stars because of the sheer number. About 30 or so 5 stars, about 250 or so 4 stars, hundreds of 3 stars. Odds are much lower that a three-star recruit will be drafted but there are so many more of them that a lot still do. Same with FCS/non-D1 Guys. They get drafted every year because there are so many of them. Studies have proven at a macro level it is a very predictable numbers game. At a micro level (each individual recruit) it is a crapshoot. Get good recruits and have the numbers in your favor. That’s the name of the game. They almost all hand out 3-Star ratings like candy. Exactly, you’re preaching to the choir on this one. Myself and others have been telling everyone to ignore ratings and focus on the offer lists for years.

  40. I’m not bagging on you alone for this comment but it underlines a recurring illness this fanbase always seems to fall prey to. We can never hope for or expect for a better coach, a better player, a better this or that. No folks,...we can hope for and expect better. Hope for and expect a better team, not just for one player. It’s called having standards and accountability. Rick

  41. I see a possibe issue for UNT should it get to 6 wins. Look at the number of bowl eligible CUSA teams already...and those that have 5 wins in the books. FAU - 7-3 La Tech 8-1 Marshall 6-3 So Miss 6-3 UAB 6-3 W. KY 6-4 Several of the above have some "should win" games left on their schedules, and Charlotte and FIU sit with 5 wins each. So, with the number of bowls allocated to CUSA, does six wins get UNT into a bowl? I count six bowl tie-ins for CUSA this year (First Responders, Gaspirilla, New Orleans, New Mexico, Frisco and Bahamas) with six CUSA teams already at 6 wins or more. If the current six win teams each win one more to get to seven wins...well, that would spell trouble for a six-win UNT. So, who do the six win teams have left to play you ask? Marshall has La Tech, Charlotte and FIU yet to play; So Miss has UTSA, W. Ky and FAU to play; UAB Has UTEP, La Tech and UNT to play, and W. Kentucky has So. Miss and Middle Tenn to go. So, it is somewhat logical to assume all of the current six-win bowl eligible teams will win at least one of their remaining games. Thus, CUISA ends up with six 7-win plus teams and six bowl tie-ins. Leaving on the sidelines any 6-win team. Not trying to be a "Debbie Downer" here, but the odds are not looking to be in UNT's favor at the moment. So, question...are there any other bowls that might take a six-win CUSA team should they not be able to fill? BUT, first things first...BEAT RICE...then BEAT UAB and we will see where the chips fall. Go Mean Green!

He came in the game yesterday with a load of confidence.... Between Bean and Aune, who would I want leading the team in College Station next season? I want a poised, confident QB.

  45. l don't know how many, because SL hasn't give any of the backups actual game time, except for a series or two. More than a couple of series is what you must have in order to play at the most optimal level. Yes, I know that the situation is pretty much the same for most other schools, but it always seems to me that SL is more interested in padding Fines stats rather than developing for the future. So if you must have an answer then I would say that just about any of the backups would eventually work into an effective starting QB by the third game if they had been thrown in there from the beginning. Someone should have told Charlotte, and USM about the PFF Clean Pocket QB Ratings so that they could both swoon before his (and by extension SL's) statistical greatness. Not to mention La Tech, FAU (twice) Troy and Utah St.
