  1. EDIT: It's North Texas vs. FAU in the final on Sunday at 12pm noon. It is going to be beautiful fall weather. This team deserves nothing less than to be playing in front of a packed house. Not even a conflict with the Cowboys who have the night game on Sunday. Sometimes other sports deserve football forum publicity. Hopefully the mods agree. This weekend is one of those times. Our most successful program (of the last 3 generations), Women’s soccer (the 2-seed) is hosting the conference tournament. The semifinal is tomorrow night at 7pm vs. 3-seed Rice. The final (should we advance tomorrow) will be Sunday at noon against 4-seed Charlotte or 1-seed FAU. This team deserves a packed house Friday night and (hopefully) Sunday afternoon. Will be chilly tomorrow but the weather when we hopefully play Sunday will be beautiful. This is one of the occasions where NT fans should make a plan to show up whether big soccer fans or just NT fans in general. When our teams play these big games in our facility, we need to show up. This team in particular deserves the support GMG!

  3. What an example of poor coaching. Can't hit the broadside of a barn and coach allows team to keep throwing up the long shots. 2 made out of 35 threes, that 6%. Mitchell should not allow a single three point shot in the next game. Going to the inside would have easily won this game. Mitchell maybe an NT icon, but coaching like this will lose a job in a hurry.

  5. Just looked at their roster, not a player over 5'11" and NT shoots up 35 threes. Even if NT could actually make a three, that strategy makes no sense.

  10. It is always tough to find a new coach, but I think it is mistake to hire an ex head coach from a big name school. They don't have to recruit to hard to get players at the big schools. You need a great recruiter who can coach in CUSA.

  20. Holtz immediately followed that quote up with this one: “I don’t put on the film and say, ‘Oh wow, they’re not what I thought they’d be.’ I am not anticipating anything other than us having to play our absolute best to have any type of chance to be competitive and win this football game.” I don't think it's fair to say Holtz is being disrespectful. I think he respects Mason Fine and North Texas greatly.

  23. SMU kept beating teams and hit the top 25. NT fizzled out after blowing their load in the Arkansas game. As much as I dislike SMU, I bet they get to a decent Bowl and get a win on national tv. Unlike NT, who got thoroughly outplayed and slapped around in New Mexico last year. Leave it to NT to kill all momentum from last year to disappointing season in 2019. SMU will be the talk of the metroplex in 2020. I wonder if they can keep their momentum going?

  24. That all may be well and dandy, but recruiting well to positional needs matters. Can't put WR's and safeties as a 3-tech and OT. . We are not setup to win on the LOS on either defense of offense moving forward into the future. And to be frank, there's no real timetable given the current roster and commit list, as to when we will win the LOS on either side of the ball. <---- And that is not my debbie downer comment of the week. But, realism, as Lifer said.

  25. Considering our 3 FBS wins are vs bad teams with a combined 7-18 record, we would probably have the same number of wins we have now....we wouldn't have the gaudy stats in those wins, but we would probably still have the wins. I may give you the MTSU game since it was close....but we didn't need 7 TD passes from Fine to beat that UTEP team.

  26. Joe Greene: AP 1st Team All American, 1st Round Pick in the NFL Draft, 4 Super Bowl titles as a player, considered the best DT of all-time, NFL Hall of Fame, 2 Super Bowls as a coach, contributed in ways too numerous to count to North Texas. Mason Fine: once in a generation talent. I love the young man, but let's be honest, he and Mr. Greene are in two different categories.

  27. The only advantage Seth Littrell has over Skip Holtz is his pay check. There's nothing in this coaching staff's past performance in this type of match up that would suggest we have a chance on Saturday. I predict ugly. La Tech 52 UNT 36 (But we win the 4th qtr 14-10)

  34. My Bachelors Degree says North Texas. My Masters Degree says the University I studied at in the UK. I represent both equally. I wouldn't have gotten the opportunity at a Masters abroad if not for North Texas. You don't have to rep one while shunning the other. You put in the same amount of work, effort, and sleepless study nights at both. As others said, it is more beneficial in the real world to get your Masters from another Graduate School than from your undergrad. His undergrad degree says North Texas, he currently studies at and plays for Gonzaga. Rep both schools. He earned that right.

  37. Was it beneficial to UNT to make an offer to you when they did? The shot offered by UNT was the same, just with different timing. Also, does this suggest that it will somehow be bad for him to go to Gonzaga and potentially get a masters and NBA scouts looking at him? He is benefiting from this new relationship as well. Did he tear up his UNT degree? Does he leave it off of his resume? Would it be wrong for anyone else to get an undergrad from UNT and then a masters elsewhere? Why is one wrong and the other not? Why are athletes not able to pursue their own path without enduring criticism of every choice they make? Why do we allow our passions to take control and use them to justify this overly critical behavior?

  42. ESPN has made a big 10 year investment in the AAC. Mike Aresco said that part of the new contract included much better promotion of the league. ESPN treated the Smu game like it was a legit college game. Conf USA continues to struggle with its media deal. As long as ESPN has no interest in CUsa no school in the league will get any national traction.

Bean is the most athletic but I still feel his arm strength is lacking but of course he is still a RSF so a lot can change in a year I wish we could see what Aune has to offer because I think he would be the best passer out of that group I know people say if you have two Qb's you dont have any but I think they could easily put in a two QB system Im excited for Renfro to get here, I love that kids footwork and arm for a HS kid. I feel like he's going to be special

  46. That's exactly what I thought. I had been waiting all season to see play calling that actually complemented our passing game rather than trying to force it to overcome its own weaknesses.

  47. I don't think any other bowl would want a 6&6 team who has beaten absolutely no one except possibly the Frisco Bowl, who needs some butts in the seat. The only thing, in my opinion, that we have going for us is Mason Fine.
