  1. Can I give you all my take away, from an out of town fan. I have only been a fan of UNT for the last couple of years. I've always liked the color Green and the name Mean Green just sounds Cool. But I drove into town for the game, I live in Ky. I am a Die Hard Louisville Fan. And came away Very Very Impressed with Everything. The Facilities are Great, The Stadium is absolute Beautiful. The Fans that I spoke too were Great. And I can see the potential of what UNT could be. With the recruiting state you are in, and seeing the scoreboard light up like it was last Saturday. If that continues, Recruits nationwide WILL take notice. And I believe Offensively that won't be a problem with Coach Littrell. Just need to figure out the other side of the ball. BUT UNT has everything in place right now that a student athlete could want. Just a word of advice, from experience. If UNT starts Rolling, which I believe can happen really soon. Don't expand the stadium. It's perfect. Cardinal Stadium has 61K capacity. While having the available seats is nice. It takes away from the feeling of connection with the Team. When we were at 42k capacity and it was jam packed every game, Everything was Better. When I walked into the stadium and looked around, I fell in love with Apogee. What a Great Stadium. That is just my 2 cents. The potential is there to be a Monster indeed.

  2. We took him off KO returns when we lost Rico. It was looking like he would play a lot more on offense. Turns out that our freshmen WR are playing well enough and Torrey got hurt, so he is back returning kicks. He is probably the guy I root for the most on our team. When we were 1-11 his senior year of high school, he stuck with us the whole way. I want him to have all the success possible. He bleeds green.

  3. How can "we do better'? We are there every damn game. All I can do is put on the best tailgate I can, and try to use every one of the 26 tickets we have. ..I've said this before, the atmosphere has been created, there are a lot of folks hosting awesome tailgate parties before the game all around the place. The stadium experience is awesome. It's time for the football team to help us help them. The houston game proved that to me, then we get clobbered by southern miss. I was shocked at the number of people that showed up Saturday. I thought the crowd was great all things considered. I was scared the fact that it was on NFL network would keep people at home

  4. I'm long winded, so bear with me. We all want the same thing...To see this program climb the ladder...Wins, Big Crowds, Bowl Games (and Bowl Game wins...) Conference Championships, Recruiting, Facilities, and the like...And we do tend to get spoiled that all of it doesnt happen at once...So instead of one giant ladder, it's a series of different ladders, that all of them get climbed at different rates. But overall, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the crowd Saturday. Was it a sellout? Not even close...Have we had larger crowds? Most certainly... But my point is this...Anyone who has been around this program, for 20-30 years, can attest to the fact, that you put this game in a time machine to the past, where if we came into a game, Homecoming even, at 3-5, with as many recent losses as we've had, there's no way there wouldve been that many people, (including students!) I was seriously expecting to see a dismal crowd. And to be fair, it didnt hurt that it was beautiful weather, but still.... To me, that's a good "Ladder Rung" we just climbed... Program/year isnt exactly where it could be, but it's still noticable that people are behind this thing. Well done Wren and Company..

  5. I can't get any of the stat services to verify this, but it appears to me that Deion's 44.4 yard average per kick return (10 returns for 444 yds) leads the nation for 10 returns or more.

  7. If that squirrel travels to Louisiana he won't make it back. That is especially true when you take into account the size of that thing and the fact that Thanksgiving is just around the corner. The only benefit is that the LaTech fans may be distracted and leave early to get their squirrel hunting gear.

  11. With a 4 &5 record there aren't too many publications forecasting North Texas to go bowling this year. I guess Athlon foresees us beating Rice and UAB to become bowl eligible. Athlon Sports Bowl Projections 11/4/19 as posted by USM fan TTT on the CUSA Board:

  12. I was there with UTEP family, friends, and Jayhawk girlfriend. We got there early and was disappointed at the initial turnout at the tailgate as I thought people were genuinely staying away given the way the season was going but then the crowd kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger. Needless to say, I walked away very proud of our school that day. Turnout was great, the tailgate was even better. Also props to UTEP fans. They had a very size-able crowd also. All in all, great time.

  14. And I complimented the atmosphere. But we have like 200,000 alumni living within an hour or so of the campus. That doesn’t even count our 40,000 students. So yeah, I think we can probably do better.

  15. Bean is the most athletic but I still feel his arm strength is lacking but of course he is still a RSF so a lot can change in a year I wish we could see what Aune has to offer because I think he would be the best passer out of that group I know people say if you have two Qb's you dont have any but I think they could easily put in a two QB system Im excited for Renfro to get here, I love that kids footwork and arm for a HS kid. I feel like he's going to be special

  16. I think we're set with Bean, Aune, and Renfro. Hoped Kason martin would've done more, but the fact that we have 2-3 guys that could legitimately start next year is good. With McCarney we had 2-3 guys that we hoped would be able to start. With Littrell I'm much more confident

  20. Homecoming crowd for 1968 --------- 18,500 The NTSU Alumni Association was celebrating its 2nd year with an increase of membership from 1,218 to 3,533 out of the 43,000 NTSU exes. Oh, just by chance, on Saturday I ended up sitting next to a classmate that I had not seen since the spring of 1969! What are the odds! That's what homecoming is all about!

  21. What a great commitment to gain towards the end of the season. Leblanc (RS FR) Jimmy Walker and Kenneth Dotson both redshirting, plus the 3 high school DL commits (Ligon, T. Johnson, and now Rausaw) forms a solid foundation for the future. Let's just hope we can get 3 HS players on campus and be 100% sure we have the right guys to develop them then we'll be cooking with gas in the next few years.

  27. Based on what I've read it sounds like it is neck and neck between Bean and Aune (pronounced Aune), with Bean having the slighter edge. The game seems to be transitioning towards more duel threat quarterbacks (Deshaun Watson, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes), which I feel gives you so many options to work with. I was at the Chiefs - Texans game and the Texans absolutely picked the Chiefs defense apart because the Chiefs had no idea how to handle the Texans and all of their weapons. While I am cautiously optimistic that an improved O-Line will benefit a pocket passer like Aune, I think the job is Bean's to lose.

  28. It is Bean's job to lose. He is the epitome of a dual threat at QB. I really think the offense is going to be ok, the offensive line is the biggest issue. I 'm afraid this year's ol is going to be missed. It is not as bad as many apparently think and only two starters will return. Unless, some potentially great QB is available, NT should stand pat.

  31. 1. Bean is very intriguing due to his athleticism and speed. I haven't seen him throw much, but his arm looks adequate. 1a. I think Aune is probably the most polished passer of this group and has great size. I don't know about his speed, but I think he would be the closest replacement to Fine from a passing/arm comparison. 2. Martin. I have been surprised that he has seemed to slide down the depth chart this year after his showing in the NM Bowl. I am not sure what we have with him, but I love his enthusiasm. 3. Kuehne/Renfro: I would guess Kuehne has been redshirted this year. He put up good numbers in high school, but he will have to make a monumental leap over those listed above. 4. Renfro: love what he brings to the table. Stephenville has struggled some this year, so I am not sure what we have with him, but by all indications, he could be our QB of the future. I hope they redshirt him next year.

  34. I don't know how knowledgeable the average NT student/local Dentonite was about football at that time, but that game was an awesome match up between two great QB's Steve Ramsey and Greg Cook (the future rookie of the year in the NFL). North Texas ended up with a 8-2 record that season and their two losses were to (as usual) Memphis and a 1988-Texas-like loss to Arkansas (15-17). That team was a great candidate for a bowl game. So the attendance was 18.5. The seating capacity of Fouts was 20K at that time. At the time of the game, the student population at North Texas was about 12-15K. The population of Denton in 1970 was 39,874, and the D/FW alumni population was 43K? And membership was 3.5K? As of our homecoming game this weekend our student population is about 39K, the population of Denton is over 120K, and estimates of NT graduates in the D/FW area are anywhere between 150K to 200K. I don't know how many members are in the Alumni association. Culture-wise and promotions-wise, we seem to be going backward. As always, I choose culture as the main culprit. Hayden Fry saw that as the main issue back in 1973 when he arrived and (IMHO) it still is.

  35. Some of the other old timers may want to weigh in on this but when I was a student in the early 70's, Fouts usually looked pretty full. Granted, the capacity was only 20,000 but we had good crowds for the most part. The college had an enrollment of about 16,000 and there were only around 35,000 living in Denton County.

  38. Is it time to just call it on the tail section of Apogee? I like it because it’s unique, but it’s never been filled and I wonder how much better attendance would be if Apogee has never built it to begin with or just got rid of it altogether?
