I hate these type of "look how smart we think we are" stories. Most of the times the person writing these doesn't have a clue to what is going on. Very rare, if ever, does a coach "forget" how to coach from one season to the next. For a large majority of the programs in college football the difference between "the next great thing" and "he sucks" is a break here and there and key players not getting injured. I might get pissed off, but I have faith in Seth. Hopefully he improves the quality of coaches, just like I want him to improve the quality of recruits. I worry that he might be too loyal and not be willing to cut ties if needed (not every coach is the right fit) For those of us who have been around for a while we have seen a lot of good and a lot of bad. Not that long ago 6 wins was considered something we hoped to hit every 2 or 3 years. These last couple of years have almost bee too easy. Many started believing that we would start winning 9-10-11 games every year. Have faith in Seth, have faith in Wren. They are building the foundation and hopefully doing it in a way that will be ongoing.8 points

Deion Hair-Griffin is averaging over 50 yards per KO return. Why would anyone else ever take another KO from here on, and why was that not his job from the beginning? Rick7 points

Did you used to post here under a different handle? Maybe a handle that started with our Alma Mater’s initials & ended with a number between 89 & 91? If I’m Charlotte’s AD and/or President, I ask ESPN to modify their abbreviation of my school ASAP. ‘CHR’ would be great, thank you.6 points

I don't know why Jason Bean doesn't go in at quarterback on 3rd and short plays. It seems like his speed would force the defense to put some guys out on the corners and open up the middle or risk him breaking a big run. I also don't know why he isn't the holder on field goal attempts and point after tries. There are plenty of other things I don't know, but those two are enough for now.5 points

I'm curious who you give credit to for these two statements? I would argue that this is a product of what SL has done here. It's a result of the culture and program he has been building.4 points

I actually expect this to happen sooner than later. I think required athletic fees will be a target. With the cost of higher education continuing to rise, I think students who don't care about athletics are going to start objecting to required athletic fees.3 points

Still not sold on Clark/UAB. A unicorn scenario that allowed them an exceptional 2018, and a laughably easy first half of 2019. Im not interested in paying for lightning in a bottle success. These salaries should be a reflection of long-term, sustaining investments. having said that, happy they are forking out the money and joining us in an effort to elevate their program.3 points

Great points. I think many of us have been guilty of knee-jerk reactions and, for some, tantrums and endless tirades due to a false entitlement. Its good that we are in a position to have expectations and we have SL and Wren to thank for that.3 points

I feel like despite anything that has happened, Wren is what is making everything possible. The guy is 110% baller and probably the best thing that happened to UNT athletics. Advertising. Graphic design. Facilities. Promotion. Recognition. Even coaching improvement to a point. He's where we should invest. Faith in Wren is faith in our programs future3 points

I don’t have a pretty graphic since I’m out of town- but the Austin chapter is hosting a watch party this Saturday at Waterloo Ice House on Burnet road. Hope to see everyone there...... also- if you are in Austin this week , we have an alumni event at Lambert’s downtown on Thursday, October 24th from 6-8pm....2 points

Does anyone know our conversion rates for 4 and 1 or short when we run straight up the middle? Including last year Also, why dont we run those plays from under center? I know our offense is from the shotgun but your taking a lot of time for the ball to get to Mason, if its a good snap, and then the hand off with the back having to go at least 4 yards to the line of scrimmage. With our line not being able to get a good push, you would think they would reduce the amount of time by the line to hold a block.2 points

Then he will probably be looking for a new job. The problem with this stupid athletic spending war is that it benefits all the people that are making the decisions. Presidents keep alumni happy by spending money on sports. AD's, coaches, and players all directly benefit. What may actually happen at some point, is that students revolt against having their tuition and fees paying for athletics. They provide the biggest source of funds for most college football programs. This would make approximately 100 D1 teams uncompetitive with the top programs and force a reconstruction of NCAA sports.2 points

This is ridiculous. One day, a courageous university president is going to say, "enough is enough!"2 points

Wildcat? Neither one would be in for a wildcat. Look, maybe we just let Mason play his final season, and hit big-time clutch throws like the one to Darden to put us in easy FG range for a game winner while we still have him. Next year, we can worry about Bean's strengths/weaknesses and how to scheme with him.2 points

I believe the OL is a lot better than many like you believe. NT is second in scoring and total offense in the league. Siggers is the second leading rusher, would be first if not injured in last game. Fine is second in yards passing. Not exactly below average numbers. Fine's quick release helps those numbers, but there is a reason that NT's running game is a big asset this year. NT's team is just not good enough against good teams. A positive, however is with the exception of ACU; the conference is not likely to have many teams if any as good as the oc slate. NT's big problems are on the defensive side.2 points

Nay. I'm new blood mostly on the forums. I've just lost faith in Sir grumps-a-lot. But, been a decade long fan of UNT football. And I'll be one ten years from now. So, GMG! *Edit: by new, only minorly posting over a few years. decided to ramp up my angst this year2 points

Absolutely, and this game exposed our poor tackling as any game has this season. But on the play above, the announcers called out K.D. Davis for the attempted shove out as poor tackling. But then once you freeze the video and see what K.D. could see,...that the guy was out of bounds I can understand why he didn’t hit the ball carrier. If he blows him up or wraps up and takes him out there’s the chance he gives them a 1st & goal for unnecessary roughness call instead of what it should have been, 3rd and goal. Rick2 points

Our UNT fat cat$ have obviously taken to Seth Littrell enough to invest big bucks with our Athletic program than ever before & that’s enough for me. They probably see SL’s brief flirtation with KSU as a positive & were probably impressed that his deciding to stay was partly out of loyalty to his (then) assistant coaches. • These SuperStarSupporters of North Texas are successful because they knew who & what to invest serious monies with thru the decades & would not have with UNT if they thought Littrell was a flake & not a keeper. Loveless, McNatt (& others) have spent time with our HFC & know what Seth is made of—most of us have not & do not. This forum is mostly all about speculation from all us passionate fans, but none of us will ever pull the trigger to fire anyone at North Texas so that subject should probably go on the backburner. Gut feeling tells me Coach SL is here for another 4-5 years & during this time I’ll “speculate” that his recruiting takes us to that next level because....I think SL finally has a full house of NCAA FBS venues now to do some high stakes card playing that will aim us toward Top 25 rankings. If we’re not shooting for Top 25 now, then you younger guys are going to run in place for the next 3-4 decades with this program & then begin to understand what all we older “War Eagles”🙄 have experienced for most of the last 50 or more years. I hope none of you have to go thru any of that. GMG!2 points

Charlotte is a bad team NT's much maligned defense, actually showed some life in the MTSU game Holding the Muts to 3 fgs when they were in the red zone in the first half was critical If NT can keep a functional Fine on the field, I predict a blowout NT 48 Charlotte 172 points

I'm still shell-shocked from last years ODU game/loss. And Fine was healthy and throwing bullets, Rico was healthy, Jalen Guyton was with us, and we had Murray who had issues pass blocking. What could possibly go wrong this year against Charlotte?2 points

I feel like this has been an issue all year but especially prevalent on Saturday2 points

Agreed. My main problem with him (and pretty much only) is being loyal to his assistants to a fault. Take KU for example. The offense had gone stagnant after the blow out of Boston College. They fire the OC and with 2 weeks to prepare, the new OC is less than a minute and massive defensive lapses away from upsetting Texas in Austin by putting up 48 and converting a clever 2 point conversion at the end of the game. Les Miles identified the problem and addressed it. I know the situations are different and I know throwing in a new DC at this point probably wouldn't create that much of a difference, but the longer Ref stays on staff is a continually poorer reflection on Seth, imo.2 points

SL has never seen an easy challenge that would be appropriate for his challenge, he prefers to wait for the complex challenges with minimal chance of success. Guess it is all in the analytics not common sense2 points

Its been a problem for several seasons now. it is evident that the coaching staff has no good organization that makes sure these situations are quickly recognized and communicated for to the head coach. There is either noone responsible for this, or the personwho is is either incompetent, or not afforded enough access to the HCs communication.2 points

That this conversation even exists is a travesty. UT doesn’t run out a fucking guinea pig during games. Penn State didn’t give a rat a moment in the spotlight. And Alabama didn’t do some asinine bullshit like throwing a hamster out there...and then insult everyone’s intelligence by saying something utterly retarded like “it’s time to try some new traditions.” We roll a damn albino squirrel out there and have the audacity to pretend that a running gag that should have died a painful death a long time ago is still funny. I finally understand why the rest of the world can’t take North Texas seriously...we don’t even take ourselves seriously.2 points

I think I saw a few in my area, but the real story was the camera guy on the scoreboard. He was fighting a swarm while filming the game. He had a bunch of bottles of wasp spray and was swatting them away. Pretty entertaining when the game wasn't.1 point
