  1. Feeling much better this Sunday night as compared to last week. Soccer goes 2-0 for the weekend. Volleyball goes 2-0 for the weekend. Both dominating their opponents. Football beats the MUTS. Cowboys win. Yankees lose.

  2. Good analysis by Brett of where the team is, how we got here, and the possibilities for the future. I hope stating these facts doesn't make him a "Littrell Homer" to our boards debby downers and negative nancies.

  6. My son spotted Rico walking around the stadium and asked him to autograph his helmet. He laughed and and signed it next to MF's signature from earlier this season. I think it's cool these guys will do this sort of things for fans willingly, especially the younger ones. GMG

  7. On another note, 3rd and 1 from Blue Raiders 8 yard line and we stuff it up the middle for 1 yard loss. Then on 4th and 2 we run a similar play up the middle for no gain. Not much imagination , and I just don't think our O line can blow the socks off a stacked defense. Also, Fine has a bum left shoulder and we call a running play with him trying to turn corner on left side. Fine does enough running just trying not to get sacked so why risk further injury?

  8. I thought all scores are automatically reviewed? On the muts third TD Which tied it at 23,...the ball carrier clearly stepped out at the 2,...no review. Or was it just overlooked? Side line judge is looking right at it but his view may have been blocked. The tv announcers caught it and questioned this as well. Should have been third and goal. Rick

  11. Great. Just Friggin Great. You had to acknowledge the wasp and post about it on here. Now you've really done it. Next thing you know, The NT Daily will pick up the damn story... And then... We'll be stuck with... Mean Green WASP Our Newest Alternate Mascot! .

  12. Folks, this current version of the Green Brigade is what I've been begging-griping-pleading about for at least 15 years....if not longer. They have ENERGY, ENTHUSIASM, AND (believe it or not) REAL SCHOOL SPIRIT!!! I still think that 450 members is a bit unwieldy, and their march around before the game is not much of an improvement from the previous bands, but they have surprised me with their on-field marching/movement. They are still early in their (new) development, but as most college coaches would say they are "still making adjustments". Well done Fessor Cook! NOW if the cheerleaders would/could just get their shit together.

  14. As it turns out the minute and a half saved by the erroneous touchdown call came back to benefit us in the end when we used that time to drive for the winning field goal. Poor MTSU, nothing ever seems to go right for them. At least they got to see our new indoor practice facility.

  15. No wasps, but today I noticed tons of honey bees flying around some mexican heather plants in my yard. Hadn't seem them at all this summer, so maybe they are just active right now. Either way, it's good to see them. Oh, I did see an albino squirrel at the game. Maybe it was attracting the wasps??

  17. I thought the Green Brigade was outstanding, as always, and they played familiar music. I would love to see comedy routines occasionally mixed into the repertoire like at Ohio State, but the Brigade was still excellent.

  18. So, I am a "Littrell Homer" for factually stating that we are guaranteed a share of the CUSA Western Division championship if we win all our remaining games, and that we can win it outright and possibly host the championship game if, in addition, USM loses to either Marshall or FAU. These aren't opinions. These are facts. So then, who has their blind eye towards reality?

  19. This was from last week prior to our game with MTSU. Perhaps he has risen since then! https://collegefootballnews.com/2019/10/college-football-news-midseason-head-coach-rankings-1-130/2 110. Seth Littrell, North Texas (2-4) Best Win: North Texas 45, UTSA 3 Worst Loss: Southern Miss 45, North Texas 27 Midseason Thought: The Mean Green were supposed to have the offense to keep up the pace and make up for the absence of a solid defense … nope. It’s going to be a battle just to go bowling.

  20. Did anyone notice wasps flying around in the stadium during the game? Were we were sitting we had 4-5 flying around pretty much the whole game. Noticed them rows down in front of us as well.

  25. I’m really baffled by that post, particularly because i know you’ve watched a ton of football. IMO, there is a cavernous drop of Portland State proportion when a team quits on the coach. we are a team of questionable calls, inconsistent execution, spotty recruiting and of an injured star QB. Not of players that have lost faith in this coach. That’s a huge leap that I don’t agree with.

  29. That is absolutely pitiful. lol. A ranked, undefeated team deserves better. Much better. Even SMU. I feel for the kids that get tricked into going to that cesspool. I thought our fans didn't care...Sheesh. Apogee would be rockin' if we were ranked and undefeated. No doubt about it.

  30. Damn these Debbie Downers and Murderers of Joy. Simple facts: These were two 2-4 G5 level teams, and the game was being played early on Saturday. Students have shown they'll show well for night games, even if its a weeknight game. Staring into the sun for 3 hours is a beating. Alumni have shown that they wont go to early games until late in the season. There are just too many other daytime obligations. So, fewer students were drawn to this game, and considering the records of the competitors, few single game tickets were sold. And There You Have It

  31. Mattykins, I am on point. If you think we have a responsibility to go to games and support the program - whether we want to or not - is exactly the point I am making against. Why would anyone want to waste their time at a bad show? Ain’t no one got time for that! thus, I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to put their time or money into this. The onus is on the athletic program and not the fans. Also, you only need to look to this season to programs being poorly attended (both past and present) and see that they can still build a quality product - SMU, App State come to mind immediately. But it is that way almost everywhere. Even here in Boise we see that with BSU. Also, social contract theory is bullshit. And so are flat earthers. Lebron James is a moron. And DD was a terrible coach. And I think the whole Ray (Tune’s dog) bit is entirely overplayed this season.

  34. Absolutely, and this game exposed our poor tackling as any game has this season. But on the play above, the announcers called out K.D. Davis for the attempted shove out as poor tackling. But then once you freeze the video and see what K.D. could see,...that the guy was out of bounds I can understand why he didn’t hit the ball carrier. If he blows him up or wraps up and takes him out there’s the chance he gives them a 1st & goal for unnecessary roughness call instead of what it should have been, 3rd and goal. Rick

  39. It's a long shot but it's still possible for North Texas to host the CUSA Championship Game this year. North Texas will have to win out, including defeating La Tech in Ruston on 11/9, Southern Miss will have to lose another game, and the CUSA East champion will need to have lost at least one conference game. Every team in CUSA-East except WKU has already lost a conference game and WKU still has to play Marshall, FAU, USM, and MTSU in their 'Hate' game. http://conferenceusa.com/standings.aspx?standings=93&path=football Our message board doomsdayers can bitch and moan about this all they want, but those are the facts. Despite early season setbacks we are in a very good position to win it all.

  40. Its been a problem for several seasons now. it is evident that the coaching staff has no good organization that makes sure these situations are quickly recognized and communicated for to the head coach. There is either noone responsible for this, or the personwho is is either incompetent, or not afforded enough access to the HCs communication.

  43. That's a completely fair point, people are going to have passions about certain things that in long run, don't really matter a whole lot. I'm here because I am very happy when our Mean Green do well and while I'm not passionate about the traditions (bonfire, clock tower, scappy, etc), I do see where they hold a valuable place in the University and the athletics program. I do love college football more than NFL for that very reason: people forked over a lot of money to get their degrees from institutions at a very critical time in their young adulthood. I love the bands and revelry and the gameday traditions that each school has. But I just honestly can't relate to being so upset and offended over the student body choosing to make a white squirrel a secondary mascot. So what if it was done before at another campus, do you see people at Alabama complaining that Nick Saban won a title at LSU first? Do you guys really think we were the first University to call ourselves the Eagles!?!? Should we ditch Scrappy because Eastern Michigan did it first? I am intentionally stirring people up in this thread, but if you're really that butthurt over a guy in a squirrel costume (who was just there to greet kids and entertain people) then you kinda deserve to be mocked IMO.

  45. Yes. I used the word that no one should be obligated to go to games to which you said you disagree. We vote with our time and money. If they put a poor performance out there, I can understand why people will use both elsewhere. To suggest otherwise is both humorous and sad. we don’t have a program where people show up regardless.... honestly, every program still has this problem. Look at TCU. The responsibility of this program is on the department alone. It is purely a product for consumption. Again, to suggest we have some sort of responsibility to it is quite amusing to me.

  46. I think the issue is the blowout losses more than just losses. If we'd lost to SMU and Houston by a TD or less, I don't think the crowds would have diminished THAT much. Sure we'd have had less fans at the game today, but it would have been way more than the 10K or less figure that most of the folks on the board estimate.
