We shouldn’t be playing any blue chip out of state programs. No Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, Clemson etc. If we play a P5 they need to either be in state or a middle of the pack P5 (UNC, Pitt, Iowa etc) Personally I would love a yearly matchup with TCU while continuing the SMU series. But I know that’s very unlikely.9 points

We talk a lot about how things will affect our recruiting abilities going forward, as it pertains to prospective student athletes. But I think our ability to attract quality coaches is as high as it ever has been. Our administration is proving how much of a priority athletics is and how they’re willing to raise and pay the costs necessary to create a winner.8 points

There were discussions last year about opening it back up after the games during the postgame radio show. It would be even better if the postgame show could be hosted there. This would be an excellent way to boost involvement for the alumni association, and fans could spend meaningful time while waiting for traffic to clear.6 points

ODU and Charlotte charge their students outrageous fees to fund their athletics. They do everything they can to hide it, but they wouldn't be playing D1 or probably any football if they had Texas limitations on student athletic fees.5 points

Honest question...How many SMU fans would be interested in meeting a single kid from inner-city Dallas if the kid couldn't run fast, jump high, or do something else to entertain them?4 points

I'd have to think back but this may have been best away game I've ever attended.......love how before game hog fans were patronizing...afterward nada word... LOL!4 points

IIRC, Old Dominion and most of the other Virginia schools are prohibited from receiving direct subsidies such as we use so they rely on student fees to support their programs. At the vast majority of schools, someone has got to pay the bills, either the universities themselves, the students, or a mix of the two. At ODU, the students are paying. PS. I just checked ODU's tuition and fees page and the students pay 121.69 per credit hour. Wow.4 points

All I kept thinking was how we may not miss Guyton as much as some think. I think between Greg White, Shorter, Bussey, Darden, and Mike Law we will be just fine.4 points

Or beat sMUT a few more times, then drop them like a CJ hooker and start playing TCU.4 points

Lol, Texas Tech has always had a deluded sense of place when it comes to sports in Texas. I would never trust anything written by a publication that is related to Tech3 points

Great block from Kelvo around 2:20 giving the receiver room for another 15 yards. ETA: I know this was an SEC team but man, I hope our O-line has improved. I wonder how many of those drops/incompletions might have been completions if Fine had just a fraction of a second more time on the throw.3 points

a) I don't think North Texas needs to play these type games anymore, and b) If we do, the starting price should be $2 million. 6 for Heisman GO MEAN GREEN3 points

According to this clown, UNT lacks "Razzle Dazzle" to qualify for their Texas Top 7 Rankings. Yet, SMU makes the list...... https://www.vivathematadors.com/2019/8/13/20802170/preseason-texas-rankings-ttu-football-big12-ncaa2 points

This video shows most of potential Heisman Trophy candidate Mason Fine’s passes vs. the Arkansas Razorbacks last Fall. Noticeable to me were several dropped passes of which one would have been for a Mean Green TD. ✅ Even more noticeable was one heckuva’ Mean Green win compliments of our Mean Green football team.2 points

Rick, that gal standing about 4 behind you in the striped skirt . . . is this the same one? I'd love to find the video she posted after our game last year.2 points

Good point, I apologize to 247. Still wonder how ranking change so much without any games being played. Apparently Renfro's rankings went down because he didn't commit to another team. Totally illogical.2 points

I like the enthusiasm, but better than the all time leader in just about every passing statistic in NCAA history? That's a bit of a stretch.2 points

Man oh man was I fortunate to be at this game! Listen to the crowd noise! To hear the loudest crowd chant of North — Texas in their stadium is one I will never forget! Let’s win it all this year! GMG2 points

ODU tuition and fees s $356 a hour per their site. I think your number is just the fees. The amount ODU gets from students fees is about $2.3m more than the total that NT derives from fees and institutional support. They have a real problem because Va. has capped the amount of the athletic budget that can be derived from student fees. ODU is currently in non-compliance and has been given a few years to get under the limit. I doubt ODU is going to reach that objective and be competitive.2 points

UConn checks in as the top G5–at 52nd overall. We are 78th overall.2 points

Looking at those numbers across the years, one gets the feeling that there is close to zero consistency as to the mehtods with which NT (and most likely also all the other schools) reports this across the years.2 points

If the kid's interest was mostly due to academics, Tulane's academic prestige alone answers this one. Its really not that close, to be honest.2 points
