  1. Odus Mitchell was national coach of the year in 1966, had seven consecutive winning seasons, and won ten conference championships. I think it is fair to say he belongs.

  2. Getting a new OC should prove itself to be a game changer. We needed it.

  3. I understand that we lost two all-conference corners but if graduate transfers Nick Harvey (.9708) and Dominique Harrison (.8731) can't handle the corners 247 composite isn't worth the paper that it's written on. Those are the two highest rated players we've ever had.

  4. Love seeing them all together. I, too, would also like to see Wilkerson in this class as well as Mr. Brown, who seems to be warming to joining this class. https://247sports.com/player/brandon-brown-46037427/

  5. http://footballscoop.com/news/19-important-assistant-coaching-hires-2019-season-no-14-bodie-reeder-north-texas/ Pretty good read. "Reeder doesn’t consider himself an Air Raid guy, which will bring some welcomed variety to the North Texas attack. The three- and four-wide sets will stay, but they’ll be complimented by sets with multiple tight ends and multiple running backs. The stuff UNT already did well won’t change — Reeder is adapting to the existing terminology — but Reeder’s new ideas will push the offense in new, creative directions."

  6. I’m actually quite impressed. In the off-season they can host wedding receptions, bar mitzvah parties, and even karaoke night! They are really keeping the ol’ arms race interesting.

  7. I think this excerpt from the footballscoop article is fair and kind of where I am on our current situation: At the same time, Littrell kinda sorta needs to put all the pieces together. The North Texas boosters and administration have answered every “Can we have this?” question with a resounding yes. An indoor facility is being constructed as we speak. Littrell has received two new contracts in three seasons on the job, making him one of the highest-paid coaches in the Group of 5. The 2017 Mean Green squad won the program’s first C-USA West Division championship but was outclassed by the Lane Train in two meetings, including the championship game. The 2018 team was a national sensation in September but blew double-digit leads to Louisiana Tech, UAB and Old Dominion (including a 28-0 lead in that one) and was blown out by Utah State in the New Mexico Bowl. Put it this way: you don’t make someone the highest-paid coach in your conference not to win that conference.

  8. If fans have to ask who their team's rivals are, they don't have any.

  9. I love our “fans” First it’s, “We aren’t winning” Then it’s “Yeah, we’re winning but the other teams are horrible and we can’t string winning seasons together” Then it’s “We’re winning, and have consecutive seasons of 9 victories, but we ALMOST lost games!”

  10. I think in some regard it's a good thing we got a new OC for this reason. The new stuff that Reeder is introducing will hopefully be different enough to confuse our opponents after their film study.

  13. What I love about this offense is that the run is always at least threatened. A lot of misdirection, play action, and RPO.

  15. #11 is Williams. Roberts is #87. Renfro is #1. He is right behind Coach Littrell. Roberts is to right of Renfro. Burke wasn’t there due to a track meet. This is a pic of boys hanging out at the top of #NewDenton

  16. I’m really excited for this hire. I liked Graham but felt like the offense was lacking in creativity, the running game, and making adjustments. I think that Reeder will bring in a new scheme that will pile up the points

  17. Perhaps your right. The HOF should not be something were you have to try and justify why you put someone in but, IMO, were your accomplishments distinguish you. If no one is qualified for that particular year then no one goes in.

  20. So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly......and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how....it is done here is the actual full quote. pardon me...here is the actual full racist quote.

  23. #11 Williams is not built like a typical OT but more like a DE. Wonder if our plans are to keep him on the OL.

  25. I was going by their high school numbers. Williams was a tackle with the number of 71 in high school. I have never known of a tackle with the number 11 which is why I thought it was Burke (the number he wore in high school. I did wonder why Burke looked so tall when he is only 6'0". Renfro did wear #1 and Roberts #87 in high school but neither number is visible in the picture so I believe that you're right about the two in back.

  26. The tone of this write-up presents Reeder as the reason we will win the CUSA title. The missing puzzle piece from the last couple seasons, if you will.

  28. Fine was pulled out of the USU game in the 1st quarter when the score was 7-7.

  29. Utah State? He was just referring to studying tape on Fine to limit him. Fine hardly played vs USU so there's not really tape to study there. Another anti-UNT "fan" here I see. Just like we'll go 1-3 in OOC, huh? Based off of nothing other than pessimism.

  30. Well, Fine will be appropriately feared if his OL gels early and he gets extra seconds to go down his checklist of receivers. As Stephen Colbert would say....meanwhile, this years opponents will all be looking at the La Tech, UAB, Old Dominion, UTSA and UTEP footage from last year. I know I would be.

  32. I viewed the eagle on the stadium as a North Texas icon for decades and didn't want to see it unceremoniously discarded during the renovations. I would have liked to have kept the entire bird, but my bride is not quite that lenient with my fanaticism. (pictured with it are a rare NTSU bobblehead, and an ultra-rare NTSC eagle statue on which the bobblehead is based)

  34. That is actually a very fair statement based on the records of the opponents we beat this season.

  35. I remember the huge Mean Green Eagle on Fouts that faced I-35 for decades. I also remember how sad it was when I saw the dismantled eagle components sticking out of the construction dumpster during renovation. I wish I had at least kept the head for prosperity's sake. Oh wait, I did.

  36. Yea - the later point people clearly don't get. Just as criticism of America isn't inherently un-American, but when someone has a D next to their name and does it, stop the presses and listen for our founding fathers rolling over in their grave. On your point number 3 in the reply above...blatant racism can't be the line for people who will never recognize blatant racism (except for say the rare circumstance where some average white kid doesn't get into their preferred college and the cries of affirmative action and reverse racism are deafening).

  37. Wasn’t that against Idaho after pulling up on a run out of bounds holding his hamstring? That was the end of the magic right there. He never was the same the next three years. Rick

  38. I feel like so much of the point is being missed here. To me, it was clear based on the words he used in that tweet that he was referring to more than just Rep Omar. Telling people who were born here to go back to where they came from, in my opinion (which isn't worth anything to anyone) is racist. He is implying that non-white people are "other" or "foreign" and that to me is unacceptable. Chuck Schumer says things need to change, Nancy Pelosi complains about the state of things, no one tells them to go back to where they came from. The entire Replublican party had a pity party and B*tch fest when Obama was President, they weren't told to go back where they are from. That's the difference. Frankly Trump has spent the last 4-6 years before he was President constantly criticizing America - so who is he to tell people if they don't like it leave. There is nothing more American than using your freedom of speech to say "XYZ sucks, we need to change that". Funny to see people who wrap themselves in the flag and act like they sleep with a constitution under their pillow engaging in this kind of talk.

  39. most of this reads as a combination of moral rationalization and back-bending to shape religious conviction into political belief and a near complete and utter abdication of personal responsibility, ethic and values...probably more the latter because apparently a leader could live stream a rape and execution, but a true christian would say, "well I coveted my neighbor's wife the other day, so who am I to judge? I'm a 'bad' person too...that's the big picture here." but to the bolded part...morality comes from experience and interaction within societies. animals have morality. moral superiority is believing that a book written by men (with some fun deleted chapters from women) about a man and propagated for 2000 years somehow supersedes personal experience and nature.

  40. if everyone else did not have the same design I be excited but I hate to be the also ran team. I rather not have the outline of Texas on the court. I was thinking maybe an outline of the Denia neighborhood since they are such good neighbors to UNT.

  42. I'd have to say SMU certainly doesn't like us and I know most of our fans don't like them. Especially the little prick who sat in our section last year and was escorted to Dallas County for the evening. You aren't going to deveop rivals of any kind with an ever changing schedule like our ADs have always done. You have to play to have a rival. Look at A&M, no rival. UT plays OU no matter what. A&M looks sad with Texas in their fight song and doesn't acknowledge them. Essentially like Doc Holiday and Johnny Tyler in Tombstone. "I forgot you were there. You may go..." UTEP is trash. (And I too say that as a person from El Paso.) I agree with most about UTSA but they certainly get under a lot of people's skin around here. All in all I hope we play a consistant set of schools. (Like Army & SMU series plus conference games.) We'll find several schools to hate. I say UNT just plays to win as many as poosible and we fans should cheer and drink beer.
