I truly hope these people never get hit on by a cute woman at the bar...their wives will be yesterday’s news. Some people just REALLY need validation external to themselves and want to belong to something “trendy”4 points

I know he can help when healthy. He's already done it. It would be awesome if he really steps up and wins a starting role at NT this Fall, then we can move Novil over to fill Young's DE role, and still have Hamilton on the other side to make a very scary DL.4 points

always glad when you grab the stool and hop up to the counter. as I said previously...criticism of Israel is not anti-Semitic. the language and tropes Omar used did toe and possibly cross the line of anti-Semitism, and she subsequently apologized...but that still doesn't change the fact that criticism of Israel is not anti-Semitic.3 points

I am a California newbie. Flight is booked, flying into San Fran Friday afternoon. Game tickets are bought. I am going with 3 of my recent Alumni buddies, need recommendations on hotels to stay at either in San Fran or close to Berkeley. Where is the main college bar strip for Cal? Top two places to sight see/eat in the Bay because only there until Sunday night.3 points

I wonder what if anything this Okie State "fan" does to support Oklahoma State. If he is/was so removed from Stillwater that he couldn't/didn't attend classes there, how likely is he to send them a check or buy season tickets. Thankfully, everyone that reads and posts on GOMEANGREEN.com is a member of the Mean Green Scholarship Fund Club and buys season tickets. 6 for Heisman GO MEAN GREEN2 points

Sadly, the poster is a small sample of the many, many UNT graduates/fans who are result of the 20 year period that UNT endured by falling back to D1AA/FCS. And the fact that UNT officials back then. did not do their job.2 points

For some areas, I can get why there are T-shirt fans. The local college football team may be the only one they can attend and not have to travel 6 hours to see a Pro team. Or there are factors like family who have attended a P5 school, so they show their support in honor of the family. UNT is light years ahead of where it was a few years ago though. It's hard to jump on board a program that has notoriously been losing games. I think winning will create lifelong fans. Let's build off of our future students and alumni.2 points

I've broken my response down to the three points I note in the quote above. 1. your experience. my experience. but more, thousands of years of human and societal experience. morality (clearly) isn't absolute. there are cultural variations, personal variations. I'll also add, divinity arose from morality, not the other way around. I understand this is contentious to a religious person, but I suppose the only true way of knowing would be a mass suicide of believers and non-believers and finding out together whats on the other side. 2. as I mentioned above, morality isn't absolute, so no...there won't be an objective line. murder and rape? pretty well past the line, I'd say universally. blatant racism, especially from a position of power? I find that pretty morally reprehensible, but we've also seen in this country decades of moral (and/or biblical) rationalization for race superiority, so clearly that doesn't meet everyone's bar. but...this is actually bogging a bit from my point. my personal morality vs. yours isn't what I initially based this post on...rather it's the shifting/inconsistency in the conservative morality. I didn't coin "Moral Majority". I didn't push forward the idea that conservatism is also tied to family values, sanctity of marriage, virtuous behavior, prudence, Christian principles et al. I didn't set the conservative morality bar, conservatives did. so for me it's been interesting/funny/scary and above all hypocritical to see it continue to shift to rationalize the behavior of their elected leader. which leads me to... 3. sure, I definitely wanted to throw rocks at these hornets on here, but I could do that any time...more here I was legitimately curious if blatant racism was actually going to be the thing that re-establishes some semblance of a moral line. it hasn't.2 points

I never understood why UNT alumni’s root for other teams they have no affiliation with until a couple of years in my college career. It’s all about socializing and following a trend. A friend I work with is a UNT alumni and likes his school and the sport teams, but he is a die hard Arkansas fan because growing up his dad liked Arkansas. I mean he buys more of their merchandise and even has a Arkansas license plate cover. You think after that ass whooping we gave them last year he would leave the dark side and join the good guys again...nope not at all. There was a article I read a couple of years ago that 90% of UT fans didn’t even go to UT.....nothing but a bunch of weak bandwagon fans.2 points

I was going to post a similar snarky comment if no one else did. Online degrees are racket. The poster may as well have gotten a University of Phoenix degree, especially if it was cheaper than OSU distance courses. And if that's a online MBA, the twitter person seems to not understand what so much of the MBA experience is about... which is unique classroom experiences with your cohort. I received my Masters the old fashioned way, by going to classes for two years at a now P5 school (Go Utes)... I still enjoy supporting the Utah football team, and even will switch to a Utes shirt on Saturday evening after UNT football if there's #Pac12AfterDark game. But my first love will always be North Texas football. And since I brought up Pac12... Fire Larry Scott!2 points

@FirefightnRick I remember that texas game as well, and how deflating it was to see his YPG ago down. you are spot on with your numbers: 10 games with 1801 yards= 180.1 YPG 9 games w/1802 yards (those Texas carries amounted to -1 yard) = 200.222 points

I feel like so much of the point is being missed here. To me, it was clear based on the words he used in that tweet that he was referring to more than just Rep Omar. Telling people who were born here to go back to where they came from, in my opinion (which isn't worth anything to anyone) is racist. He is implying that non-white people are "other" or "foreign" and that to me is unacceptable. Chuck Schumer says things need to change, Nancy Pelosi complains about the state of things, no one tells them to go back to where they came from. The entire Replublican party had a pity party and B*tch fest when Obama was President, they weren't told to go back where they are from. That's the difference. Frankly Trump has spent the last 4-6 years before he was President constantly criticizing America - so who is he to tell people if they don't like it leave. There is nothing more American than using your freedom of speech to say "XYZ sucks, we need to change that". Funny to see people who wrap themselves in the flag and act like they sleep with a constitution under their pillow engaging in this kind of talk.2 points

yeah - a bit of a bonehead move..But, to be fair, this interview probably has numerous interviews stacked up, back to back to back, and it's going to be difficult to remember everyone's name. So, if I'm him, I have a big Que-Card right off camera with each of their names, in GIANT LETTERS, and maybe a couple of hard to remember facts under each name..."senior, what town they're from", etc. so I can quickly glance at them to remind myself. Set yourself up for easy success.... I dont care if I'm interviewing Nick Saban...I'll have a Que-Card next to the camera that says "NICK SABAN"1 point

It's fun when old men who get paid a lot of money and can switch jobs at any time to get even more money complain about a college kid wanting to go to another school without penalty because they believe it would be a better situation for them.1 point

I think (hope?) there are more people like me than the ones you see on social media & other news outlets shouting "Send her back" and whatnot. I think most people (like, greater than 95%) believe racism is wrong. The other 5% can be dismissed as racist a-holes, not representative of the norm. But that 5% can be made to look like 50% if framed correctly. I think media has done a fantastic job of that. From there, you have the argument that "if you don't say anything, you're with them", which I could not disagree with more. Again, I think most people can agree that racism is wrong, and don't feel the need to grandstand on social media or anywhere else to state something that's so plainly obvious. So to the bolded above, for the majority of people, I don't believe the racism moral line has moved, outside of the trend towards racism is wrong that has been going on for over a half century now. It's certainly not doing a U-turn simply because Trump is saying Trump things. Sadly though, these kinds of unchecked remarks are emboldening that fringe ~5% or so to get louder, which makes it easier to frame.1 point

Christians have supported a long list of atrocities over the centuries. Always being able to point to verse that justifies their abhorrent beliefs at the time. The same can be said for almost all religions. While I understand that Christianity has evolved over time I wonder why so many believers are willing to forgive the past yet still believe that the exact same text should provide them a moral compass in the present. Generally when having a discussion with someone and they turn to religious text to support their argument I just politely move on down the road. Would they be accepting of me supporting my argument with quotes from the Little Mermaid? I actually have a deep belief in "God" but I spend no time trying to define this entity and find no direction in passages written by men that, for most subjects, would have the modern day equivalent of a 5th grade education. I should not find it surprising that the majority of Christians support Trump but somehow I do. Which speaks to my own lack of intelligence I suppose.1 point

Charlotte announced their 2019-2020 Men's Basketball Schedule this week. They will visit Denton on Thursday, February 13th. This more than likely means we will be hosting their travel partner ODU 2 days later on Saturday. Could be very pivotal as it would be the last game before C-USA Bonus Play starts.
