  5. Well at least CUSA media days info made it into The DRC! I find it some what a slap in the face that the CUSA has its headquarters in DFW but can't make it into DMN Sunday 14 July sport section when talking conference media days.. Well guess if your not in the B12 ur out of luck. Well they did mention SMuT....... To me this is a result of poor leadership at CUSA.

  6. What a relief! I was worried for a minute there. These 100% truthful and not at all carefully crafted statements sure are comforting.

  7. Every single answer was diplomatic. This conference is not in a stable place. That is a lie. 445k is better than 200k. Still less than half of the 1.1. The conferences need to realign. This is a reactive conference with a reactive commissioner. The SEC, ACC, etc. and even the AAC and the MWC are proactive conferences with proactive commissioners. The Sun Belt is more in tune and comes off more sustainable than CUSA. They at least know their place and have decided to carve out their niche with Tuesday and occasional Thursday night nationally televised games and dubbed it FunBelt. Their payouts may not be bigger than CUSA's, but their national exposure is 10 fold that of CUSA. And exposure cannot be undervalued. It's a paramount part of the dynamic equation that is collegiate sports.

  11. Not about La Tech, but 247 rankings make absolutely no sense. Look at the final 2018 for example. NT is ranked fourth behind two schools(Marshall, FAU) that are shown signing over 30 players. I wonder how 247 assumes that those schools are going to be substantially over the 25 signee limit. They also rank UAB higher than UNT. NT has a higher average player ranking than the first three and signed nothing but 3 stars. FaU and Marshall both signed five 2 star players and UAB signed six. I guess they defend their non-numeric based rankings on addressing needs, wind direction, or who they think provides more 247 fans.

  17. If we are going to add a sport it should be men’s soccer. I’ve expressed this opinion a few times, always to a collective eye roll, but the program would be nationally relevant almost immediately.

  19. I don't understand why an historically underfunded athletic program such as UNT would add a financial albatross such as baseball. The capital costs for a stadium are double digit millions, and you are guaranteed seven figure loses.

  28. New Mexico isn't that bad tbh. We have a cabin in the woods there which probably makes me a bit biased, but give me desert over swamp any day of the week.

  29. This. I know a couple of people that went there and despite Ruston being a S*it hole, people still end up there. I would take those 2 over Ruston any day of the week.

  32. 👍 ....and beating California would make for a great start in changing that ranking. The difference for Fine, if he ever makes it to an NFL team, will be what I observed in fall practice of his freshman year........he just oozed confidence from every pore. That goes a long way for a savvy coach.

  35. Bottom Line - Nike does not care what you think. Period. A U.S. consumer boycott of Nike will do absolutely ZERO good...just like 99.9% of all so-called consumer boycotts. One wonders just how much of Nike's total revenues come from U.S. consumer purchases? I am thinking not enough for them to truly care about. Seems to me that today, most of their revenue come from overseas and team purchases. It does, however, amaze me that any corporation would want to alienate a rather large portion of what consumer purchase potential they do have in the U.S. Seems like such a counterproductive business decision. But, again...one wonders if Nike hasn't just decided it would rather play politics than sell shoes?

  38. Don't forget Kaepernik(sp?) started the "kneeling during the National Anthem" movement. Now he won't wear a certain Nike shoe because of a Betsy Ross flag? What a jerk! I hope he never plays another down of football. Even Arena Football. F'him.

  40. WOW...that's some serious change compared to what it costs to field men's soccer...especially since UNT already has a stadium...anyway...the point is...it costs a bunch of money to run a baseball program. So, since baseball is "next up" it appears...good deal there for lots of folks...it's time to start increasing those Mean green Club donations and memberships...especially from the folks who have been clamoring for and posting about baseball at UNT for so long. I increased my donation level and will do so even more once there is an "official" stadium and/or program announcement (no way some rich dude funds the continued operation of this program all by him or herself)...hopefully in the soon to be set "podcast with RV"...one never knows where a podcast will go...

  41. Our stadium benchmarks should be South Alabama, ECU, Tulane, and Memphis. I can't really tell about Memphis' seating.
