  1. I'm definitely watching this guy closely - but if this doesn't bring a smile to your face, then I don't know what will

  2. Thanks for the visit to our site and the invite to chat with you about how our team matches up with the Mean Green. Let’s face it FCS teams don’t have a stellar record when playing FBS teams that aren’t in the bottom 10. A game against a FCS team like ours with a middling record doesn’t generate much fan interest. That said, You are welcome to come on over to our site and share your thoughts if so inclined. Our goal in past years in games like this has been to beat the line. We’ve managed to do that about 75% of the time against the likes of Baylor, Air Force, Colorado State and Fresno State. The betting line for this game hasn’t been posted but the Mean Green will probably be favored by 28 or so points. At a minimum we plan to beat the line whatever it may be, to score more than the 27 points we put on the board against Baylor in last year’s opener, and to collect a guarantee check to help subsidize our athletics program. Many of us us believe we have the talent to do more than meet these minimal expectations. What can I say? It’s the summer. A perfect time for delusions of grandeur before the first snap of fall practice begins and reality bites.

  3. Just picked up my 2019 edition of DCTF. Thought I’d start a thread where folks could share their thoughts on this year’s offering. One of the greatest things I noticed was that while they list NORTH TEXAS AT SOUTHERN MISS as UNT’s Game of the Year, they list SMU’s Game of the Year as SMU VS. NORTH TEXAS. Greatness.

  5. battle flag will look awful on tv/internet games. Look at the crap Colorado St, Oregon, and some other schools that have super colorful or super busy floors...it is terrible.

  6. A small but funny thing: The diving eagle design doesn’t have the C-USA logos like the other 2 designs do. THAT’S how they’re really trying to convince people lol.

  8. I do LOVE the Battle Flag. But it doesn’t translate well to cover a full size basketball court. Perhaps it would look better if it took up just the center part of the court? The Diving Eagle is at least consistent with the football field. I like it over the state of Texas.

  9. I voted for the diving eagle. The battle flag would be second for me but seems like it would look weird on the court. Honestly, I would have preferred a more creative look but the diving eagle is a solid choice.

  10. I like the diving eagle. I like to create brand name and having basketball court match football looks great. Also think it will look best on TV. If I could design, I would do Diving Eagle, but put the battle flag in the paint on each end.

  11. i agree with some that the diving eagle was put up against other designs to win and i voted for it, but it's very unoriginal.

  12. I didn't get a picture for each of the locations my wife and I visited (there were a lot!), but a UNT hat, beanie, or polo made an appearance in four foreign countries and seven U.S. states over the last three weeks. Some highlights include: Ann Arbor, Michigan Niagara Falls, New York Louisville, Kentucky Cincinnati, Ohio Toronto, Canada The Scottish Highlands Dublin, Ireland Reykjavik, Iceland Just doin' my part, don't ya know? Thought y'all might enjoy that!

  13. But do they put it on their basketball court with a light saber coming out of it?

  19. Diving Eagle. What about making the lanes the Battle Flag? I have gone back and forth and thought it would be too busy, but was curious about other's opinions. Also, what if we went with the Diving Eagle and added small Battle Flags on the court opposite where the conference logo is placed? Curious what others think.

  23. according to the other thread, the battle flag isn't getting any love. Too bold, I suppose. It got my vote though.

  24. Is it possible to use the battle flag as the keys or do they have to be all one color? Of these three, I'd probably go with SOW and see if you could put the battle flag in the keys.

  25. While I do like that McConnell tower green light graphic, it's gotta be the battle flag, no?

  26. Fan voting is to get interest, the design has probably already been decided. I was hoping for more than a floor design out of the big announcement.

  29. He currently has no 247 rating. He had only three other offers...Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Illinois State, and Liberty. But in Walerius and Littrell I trust. They don't seem to miss on many. He seems to have very good closing speed. I remember that Khairi Muhammed wasn't highly rated by 247 and he is our best defensive back now, at least until the two graduate transfers get on board.

  32. But why all the yellow in the Eagle design?? 🤮

  33. If I'm reading this right, they had 1,600 at Baylor. If they bring half that, they would bring more folks than SMU's three years combined.

  34. McConnell Tower/Trees, while easily recognized from this image, will be hard to decipher from different angles, upside down, etc. It'll leave alot of people squinting at it, saying "what is that thing?" And I love me some battle flag, but to make the whole court look like that? Looks like the worlds biggest corn hole board.

  35. @Moobs is right. Let's just call it a light saber. WOuld love to see what the lighted tower looks like with the textured flooring and darker greens you see from the flying eagle, but oh well...

  36. I chose the diving eagle with the Texas outline. Light the tower doesn’t excite me, most people wouldn’t understand it and frankly it’s kinda hard to tell that is what is happening from the design. I love the battle flag but maybe it’s just that picture but I don’t think it looks good on the court design. Plus the diving eagle over Texas is basically a match to the new football turf from last year. Will be interesting to see what wins!

  40. Thoughts of bogeyman on Cat Chat - "Reading about North Texas gets me excited about our possibilities of an upset. I've watched their QB Fine play several games (mostly losses) and although he is a good QB, I'm certainly not overwhelmed by him. He can be hurried and we will have the players on the DL and LB's that can hurry him. We are deep at DE and have 3 pretty solid rushing ends in Smith, Piccone, and Hill. Their RB's seem to be solid but our 4 backs of James, McCrary, White and Anderson measure up pretty good too. Our LB'er corps should be equal to theirs and I think superior. Our DB play will have to be superior to their playmakers at receiver but maybe, just maybe that can happen. I don't think their defense can shut us down and ours will be pretty stout. They have some 3-star unknowns who could turn the tide but we are bringing in some pretty good talent too. Dorrell has been building this team to one he likes and he may be there this year (maybe next). I understand they are FBS. I understand they went to a bowl game. I understand they have more scholarship players. They have a great young coach and have brought in a very good OC. We still may be a year away but I'm thinking we will surprise this year. If our OL has been upgraded; if our receivers can hold their own; if we have some DB's who can defend, we're going to be pretty salty (as my dad use to say). I can't wait to see who comes in for fall practice in August. This team is coming together and North Texas better be on their toes."

  41. After the recent upgrades that were made to the concourse area, I'm trying to go over possible areas that might be upgraded. Scoreboards on either end of the arena could definitely be changed out. It would be awesome to see an LED ribbon added as well. Wren has discussed the desire to add more Loge box seats in the SP. New playing surface? The guts/underside of the SP needs a desperate update. There could be other things as well that don't have much fan/spectator visibility.

  44. I really must say I could not disagree with you more. I think what the University has done is shown a commitment to athletics and something that is being noticed throughout the country. With Seth’s contract, the University is getting recognition throughout college football as a school that is committed to building an ongoing successful program. This commitment has been something North Texas has not had in the past and frankly has been used against us in recruiting. As we move forward if Seth should decide to leave I believe we will have a much higher level of interest in this position as potential coaches will understand the commitment from North Texas for success. I believe it also shows high school coaches that the University is committed to building a strong program - A place where they can encourage their players to continue their football careers. Are there risk, yes. But as you try to take it to the next level just like in many sports contracts you have to pay for potential. I believe what North Texas has shown is they are committed to the future.

  45. Hi - Thank you all for the posts! It is all so interesting to me and my family. My dad was Steve Ramsey the QB you are speaking of. My son, John Stephen, is now 8 and loves football! He is also so interested in looking up his stats etc. on the internet. It has been really fun and interesting to see these posts and hear about my dad. I really miss him. He died in 1999. Keep the info coming! (ie I didn't know they were suppose to play in Texas Stadium, but it wasn't finished!!!) Thanks - Kim Ramsey Kavanagh
