  1. It's just misplaced virtue signaling. Nobody here disagrees with honoring veterans but it wasn't really germane to this post on this board.

  2. Going from #Hit6 to #6ForHeisman in 5 years. Damn it feels good that the minimum expectation is a bowl game at this point. Used to be that was the end goal. What a difference a competent AD and HC can make.

  3. I don't think that is the issue here. You are right. It is a day to remember all of those who lost their lives 75 years ago on that beach. However, I don't know this is the place to be telling people no, they can't get excited about Fine for Heisman or the launch of this website bc if falls on the same day as D Day. Nothing but love for my fellow Mean Green here... just hoped you would understand the reactions you are getting are not bc people don't respect themselves or anything else. GMG

  4. Aaaaanyway.... Lets hope Mason has a injury free season and puts up huge numbers. How awesome would it be for him to at least make the finalists headed to NY

  5. No, today is a day of remembrance and to honor the sacrifice boys Mason’s age and younger paid during the “launch” on the beaches of Normandy France in order to start the rescue of the world from pure evil. Rick

  6. Step 1: Go an undefeated 13-0. Step 2: Have ridiculous stats; 4500 yards passing. 40 TDs, under 10 picks Step 3: There not be a clear cut Heisman favorite so it waters down the field and allows a sleeper to get even recognition. Unfortunately, even if steps 1 & 2 happen (which would be awesome), there is a clear cut favorite for Heisman in 1A. Lawrence and 1B. Tua. The national media are going to stroke their ego and just gaga over any kind of "Heisman moment" so they can flash the highlights and have talking heads drooling over their perfection. We like to think voters vote for the Heisman, but ESPN steers their voting tendencies all season long. It should be called, "The ESPN Hype Trophy presented by whoever writes us the biggest check".

  7. Warning - all Over the board here: 1. When I hear 6.6 I always think, the antichrist was born this morning at 6am. I watched a lot of horror movies as a kid and Damien and the Omen’s series was one of my favorites. 2. There is only one D Day and the ceremonies this morning brought tears to my eyes. So powerful and I will try to stand at Freedoms Alter one day. 3. Very cool we have a some awesome publicity coming our way with Mason’s website launch. I feel a special season in Denton ahead. I am excited to believe in it, watch it, and live it with my family and friends. 4. How about some College Gameday pub! Remember a few years back when tcu was hot they sang them in the intro every Saturday morning. With a cool name, Heisman hopeful, let’s get Game Day to work us into the promo. They could do a lot with the name Mean Green and for several reasons we will be a Team to watch this fall! Lastly, none of this happens without our courageous heroes at Normandy. There are moments like this where you reflect and question your own will, purpose, courage and strength. Grateful to be Free. God bless the USA!

  8. I get the competition diffidence. But i had the argument with a guy from DCTF the other day. Yes the competition is greater but so is your supporting cast. For instance if Sam Elhinger came to UNT I don't think we win 9 games.

  9. I think it should be notated on Mason’s Heisman launch that Tua also had 2 extra games for his yards last year. I understand the competition difference but still worth notating.

  10. This doesn't seem to jibe with the current staff's philosophy, but I believe we should give one scholly to a placekicker. A top kicker will make the difference between a win and a loss at least once a season. We lucked out with the Cole Hedlund situation in many ways--the fact that things had gone south at Arkansas, the fact that he had an immediate connection with UNT, the fact that he found his lost touch after he got to UNT. We can't count on things working out like that every year. The only way we got a top kicker like Trevor Moore on campus is because we offered him a scholarship, and that's something we need to be willing to do every 4 years.

  11. Who is this Moron? Our tailgating is second to none, especially at the G5 level. Live music, great food, shade and plenty of room for all the different groups.

  16. Thanks for the show guys! The planning of an athletic complex in one geographical location was genius! To have the land and location for facilities, with a visual from interstates hwys and still have plenty land for tailgating is just awesome. One day we will be adding a second deck to the student side, enlarging the athletic facility, building a basket ball arena and a baseball facility and still have land left over for parking and tailgating..It is truly a team effort by all both on the field, behind the scenes and alumni. Get involved and be part of the team! GMG

  17. The closest comp I can see is when Jordan Lynch (Northern Illinois) came in 3rd in 2013. At the point he was named a finalist, Northern Ilinois was 12-1 (after starting 12-0). His stat line before the bowl game was 2,676 Passing Yards 1,881 Rushing Yards 46 touchdowns (22 rushing, 23 passing, and 1 receiving.) Source: https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/10111560/heisman-trophy-finalists-jordan-lynch-johnny-manziel-tre-mason-aj-mccarron-andre-williams-jameis-winston The opportunities are there for Mason. Cal is thought to have one of the better LB/Secondary groups in the nation. A strong performance against them - and a victory - would garner more attention than the Arkansas win did last year. Houston and D'Eriq King will bring a salty squad to Denton ready to fire back at whatever Fine throws their way. Win a classic G5 shootout against a fellow Heisman dark horse and the buzz would begin in earnest. May be an uphill battle but one thing is certain... the #6forHeisman campaign is a signal to all recruits that with hard work you can dream big and get noticed in Denton.

  19. I’m sorry for every young Mean Green fan who never got the chance to watch little Marcus Camper work his magic against the bigs of the SWC/Big12. Congrats to him, Casey Fitzgerald and the whole class. Rick

  20. I completely agree. Wasn't Bazaldua on scholarship under Dickey as well? Then, when we don't have scholarshipped kickers, we have hard times finding good ones, and every kick is a nail-biter.

  25. Or maybe you are missing the point? Not saying we wouldn’t. But look at Chris Carpenter, he committed and then decommitted after he blew up with offers. We’re doing a better job with Walerius, but fighting off schools from poaching top recruits is a real threat year in year out for any school.

  26. I still find it odd that Amber Jackson that ended her career at NT being suspended. is now in the HOF. I wonder if the selection committee even knew that, my guess is they just looked at the numbers. She is deserving and most would blame that circumstance on a completely incompetence hc, Shanice Stephenson.

  32. THIS Clearly the change was expedited after RJ Hampton's media parade proclaiming Australia's NBL as a better vehicle to prepare him for the NBA. Whether this sways kids to take the NCAA route to the NBA rather than alternatives is of little concern to me. Ultimately, though, this should make the game more visually appealing to casual viewers with the extra spacing. Also, it may I would think the change would make defensive length on the wings more valuable since there's now more ground to cover when closing out on three point shooters. Also, hopefully having to update the line will cause FIU to rethink their awful beach themed court

  34. The Safeway Bowl is the name given to the North Texas–SMU football rivalry.[1] It is a college football rivalry game between the Southern Methodist University (SMU) Mustangs football team and the University of North Texas (UNT) Mean Green football team, two universities in Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex Now I know you all know this and I know this but did anyone know that Wikipedia knew this ? 35. Do you think we are going to be able to hold onto Erik Williams and Kade Renfro? Do you know if any other recruits are close to announcing or are really interested in UNT? Kade Renfro has been talking about us getting ranked within the top 25 one day on Twitter, what is the level of excitement surrounding this class and Renfros excitement about potentially joining Seth? Thank you, I love the show guys.

  36. Discuss the wisdom of getting this many commits this early. Last year for instance, NT had no ships available for any maybe more talented late adds. Two members of last year's recruiting class are not on the current roster: de Sow, db Gaddie. What is their status?

  37. I think all commits are trying to come up this Sunday. They are definitely starting to gel together. It’s awesome to see them out recruiting. #GMG

  38. Wish we would’ve connected. I will say, I think the rain played a part in the low attendance for sure. There were a few people from the steering committee but definitely saw some new people too. talked with Jared Moseley, seems they’ll continue to do austin- apparently San Antonio’s was terrible a few years ago. Hope to see you at the round rock express game next month.

  39. Overall, I’d say the turnout was ok. Unfortunately, it didn’t look as good as Houston’s. I met some alums that aren’t really involved and tried encouraging them to come around more. I hope the AD continue to work on getting more engagement is Austin and doesn’t abandon this stop in the future. My family had a great time and it’s always great getting some face time with the staff and coaches. On a more football note, I had a one-on-one conversation with Littrell and he was very positive about this upcoming season. He’s going to be more involved in the offense and doing things his way, like his UNC days. He said good things about Aune and Bean as Fine backups and eventual replacements. He doesn’t think the offense will skip a beat from last season. Defense sounded more of a question mark but he was excited about some of the younger players. He doesn’t shy away from the fact that this is an area that is more of an unknown. It really does seem like Littrell genuinely enjoy being here, but I really hope we can continue to build up our facilities and fan base to make him want to stay.

  42. If Mason didnt go down in the bowl game and lead us to a W.... We might have had a shot. Sad to say... Texas being good is good for college football and our state. After their bowl win and his postgame remarks.... that earned him the cover. Bring on the downvotes and eyerolls haha
