Yeah, I need to get back into the donating realm. I think they would have far more success if the athletic department would create allotted accounts for projects so people could donate into their project of choice as well as the MGSF. People are more inclined to give their money if they know what their money will be used for.

I went to the coaches caravan for the first time ever yesterday and saw a flyer they handed out. It said that only .3% of all of our alumni donate to the MGSF, is the donating really that bad?

I interviewed this kid early last month. We will discuss on the recruiting podcast. Huge commitment. Will be a challenge to hang on to!

Question for those that usually attend the Caravans: What are your thoughts on the single caravan in Arlington vs. haw they’ve been in the past (broken up to Collin, Dallas, and Tarrant counties). Was this year better or do you prefer it like it was in the past?

Yikes, well hopefully with our momentum and Wren, we’ll be able to change that over the next few years. Caravan event was fun though, I look forward to going to the next one in Denton.

It’s always been my understanding (since late 1990s) that these three sports were the only ones that came close to generating a positive revenue. All the others were investments. This is the first time I’ve seen them called “major” rather than “money” sports. I don’t think it’s a big deal. I also have no idea how much truth there is to the first paragraph.

Jared did a stellar job for ACU. He’s one of several connections between ACU and UNT. Riley Mayfield played for ACU before grad transferring to UNT. When we were searching for a new HC two years ago our search committee contacted Graham Harrell, who has deep ACU family connections. He said no thanks, but Wren Baker suggested Adam Dorrel from NW Missouri who eventually became our HC. Those of us from ACU are looking forward to playing the Mean Green. We like the money and a chance to play on a bigger stage than normal. Who know we might even score a few points against you.

When I attended a conference at McMurray eons ago (around 2001) the students from ACU and Hardin Simmons told me that their officials would check the bar parking lots for university parking stickers. If you were identified as being at a bar, you had to report to the Dean of Students. We naturally gave them a ride to the bar with us.
