  1. Imagine scoring a bowl game winning touchdown over Texas Tech or Baylor as time expires and then going and celebrating and hoisting a trophy at the 50 yard line of SMU's field. I cant think of anything more glorious.

  6. The new Ole Miss AD won't be able to build, they have a new $100 million hoops arena. They also have renovated their atheltic center and football stadium for another $75 million. That doesn't include their basketball practice facility, which cost more than our IPF. Despite this investment their basketball team routinely finishes 6-8th in the SEC and the new coach is under contract for another four years. In football they finished went 1-7 in league play finishing 6th of 7 teams in their division. They are on NCAA probation & scholarship limits and Luke is under contract until 2021. Bjork was great on the business side and there's probably not much to improve there. He more than doubled athletics revenue coming into the school. A new AD would not be able to do much of anything for about three years unless they raised a buyout war chest for football. WB could show immediate improvement at UNT because we needed the trifecta: better facilities, coaches/staff, and business operations/fundraising. The current University leadership, AD and staff have all aligned to fuel the this improvement. We can now say we have a resource advantage over our CUSA peers and many G5 teams. A transition like we have seen here is more difficult for Ole Miss because of the SEC arms race and WB knows this. Not a dig at Ole Miss, more of a compliment to the SEC. An AD gets hired for showing clear improvement and raising the stock of a schools programs, it is not a given that someone could show that at Ole Miss. How likely is it that they supplant LSU, Florida, A&M, Auburn, Bama etc. Why take that career risk when your stock is on the rise and the money is comparable?

  13. That would invalidate the naming rights they just honored the Lovelace/McNatt families with. Would be an awful look for Baker & we'd likely kiss any future donations from these folks goodbye.

  17. This is a horrible decision for ATM. But, whatever. Not sure how this benefits SL. Matt Luke is in year 2 there. He still has 2 more years left before they send him kicking his can. Given that he's an Ole Miss legacy (And they value that kind of BS over there) he'll get 4 full years.

  18. In Fine's sophomore year I thought he tried to make the big play in a few instances where the easier throw picks up the first down. Call it growing pains. Last year I thought the scheme let him down too many times. I still think we never had enough 5-8 yard options for him. When he did get in a rhythm, he was basically unstoppable. This year I'm hoping Reeder gets the best out of Fine. Sort of a Kellen Moore type of year. Takes what the defense gives, has a good third down percentage and burns you deep when you try to send people. I think Fine has it in him and we have the receiving tools, but I never saw that happening while GH was here.

I'm not sure our offense will really be an Air Raid offense with Reeder: https://www.texasfootball.com/article/2019/04/16/how-bodie-reeder-plans-to-build-winning-offense-at-north-texas?ref=article_preview_title https://www.ntdaily.com/new-offensive-coordinator-bodie-reeder-looks-to-rejuvenate-mean-green-offense/ Beyond the expanded role of TEs, it will be interesting to watch how our offense changes next year and how much SL keeps his stamp on it.

  32. I think the biggest question for me is: If we hold on to Littrell past the 2019 season, and he doesn't have Mason Fine, how are we going to fare? Not that I think Littrell isn't building a solid roster full of good players, but an all time great QB can cover up a LOT of deficiencies.

  45. My experience maybe unique, but I think ESPN is inferior to almost anything including the CUSA network. There are not as many buffering issues on CUSA as ESPN although the feed is the same. Bein is great if you can find assess. A lot of the problems are related to the quality of the school generated streams. Nothing like watching a basketball game and having replays and advertisements during live play. CUSA should enact some type of standards for equipment ,announcers and interruptions of live play.

  46. ----With the appearance of Fox and these radio guys like Rush Limbaugh talking 24-7, things has gotten much more divided...especially along party lines. I am old enough to remember the Nixon/ Watergate problems and it was nothing like it is now.... Even Viet Nam wasn't either... not divided on party lines or liberal/conservative views very much... just lots of opposition to war in general... One good thing that happened as a result was dropping voting age to 18 from 21 ... because before then people were being drafted into the military and could not even vote or have any voice in the situation. The average age of a PFC in Nam .. about 19.6, WWII it was about 26 --- but that was a war to survive as a country. . . I was "draft bait" for Nam for three years before I could vote.

  47. Maybe Barr's 4 pages sums up Mueller's 400. Maybe it does not. I will say that I was not surprised in the least how this finally played out. What I do wonder is how simple a person must be to look at the following list of indictments and plea deals and come away with the conclusion that the special counsel was a political witch hunt. https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/list-of-mueller-indictments-783405/ We as Americans, be it left or right, should be deeply concerned about the transgressions uncovered in the Mueller investigation. If you are not I seriously wonder where your priorities lay.
