I had a young man come over this morning (Sat) to mow my yard. He showed up in an Arkansas sweatshirt. I asked him what his Arkansas connection was. He said he doesn't like it anymore and only wears it to mow yards. He said he stopped liking Arkansas after the North Texas game. GO MEAN GREEN4 points

I think a win over Houston would be better for the perception of us than a win over SMU.3 points

I will be shocked when we find out he is paying players in someway to attend WKU. Those guys don't just pick small schools for the fun of it. See massive NCAA Basketball Recruiting (Bribing) Scandal. Burn the whole thing down and start over.3 points

This is an erroneous argument. Basketball is not like football. Roster turnover is much more rapid and a program can practically be built from ground up in 2 years. Benford was a dumpster fire, but it's not like we had no roster at all going going into year 1 of GM. GM had us winning 20 games and a post season tournament in year 1. IMO, the emotional aspect of Benford still lingers but there is almost zero logistical argument left to defend a slump or failure under our current staff. There are plenty of examples of basketball programs getting their act together in 2 years. Don't let this football cliche about rebuilding a program bleed over into this sport. EDIT: You're right about the mid-season lulls not helping, but we should still be seeing something refreshing/inspiring in recruiting.3 points

"A season ago, North Texas struggled to put away games. All three regular season losses came after blowing double-digit leads, and the inability to get conversions on 3rd-and-short didn’t help. Reeder wants to rebuild the short-yardage game from scratch." THIS! This is the thing I look forward to seeing turned around!3 points

Well..the numbers are in...we made a tad over $4000.00 for the Spirit Teams! That is pretty darn good all things considered...change of date, change of venue, Saturday before Easter, etc. Many thanks again to our sponsors, players, donors and spectators. You are the ones making it a success for these great student-athletes. 👍👍 By my guess, and after rallying up the last nine years of events, these little one-day events have generated close to $60,000 for UNT student-athletes! Not bad...thanks to YOU! See you next year for our second kickball game! 👍👍 AND....year 10!2 points

I am cautiously pessimistic. I think our offense has a legitimate chance to improve, especially in short-yardage situations and in the second half. But my green-tinted glasses don’t extend to the defense. It would be crazy to assume we can easily replace 6 starters - 4 of which made an all-conference list. Add to that Rod Young, who SL called the most talented player on the team in 2016, and you have a lot to replace. I think they can be good, of course, but I think there will be some drop off, particularly early on. And don’t get me started on replacing an all-conference kicker.2 points

I too am a little impatient with McCasland's recruiting. He certainly does not seem to be doing much this year. However, Benford is long gone and I doubt he is a factor at all in recruiting. Benford was a good recruiter, something that McCasland has not yet demotivated at this level.2 points

Cuban loves him and has stated he can have whatever roll he wants in the organization. Would love to see him as an assistant coach to keep mentoring the young guys.2 points

It’s very worrisome. Yes the team has two back to back 20 win seasons but this hasn’t transferred to an uptick in recruiting. At least as far as I can tell.2 points

I would imagine they attach the garage sale to the season ticket pick up event. I am sure they dont want to lug all that stuff to an event2 points

Why so many predicting loss to La Tech? They should not have beaten NT last year and only finished 8-5 and 5-3 in conference. They also lost 5 starters on defense and 4 on offense, much more than NT. In the oc, NT will be a significant underdog to Cal, should be favored over ACU and SMU and UH will be a toss-up. CUSA doesn't have a clear cut leader, but a number of teams that should fight it out. I don't see why NT will not be better than last year. Fine's last year and the offense should continue to dominate a lot of teams. The defense will take some time to gel, but has the potential to be better than last year by conference play. My prediction is 10-2, only one loss in CUSA and NT will win the league.2 points

I hate the one pony show the NBA has become as much as the next guy and dislike that talk is only about a few specific players, aka Lebrick, but I think the Mavs are really on to something. Between Luka, Porzingis, Brunson, and a high first rounder in the draft, this team is already shaping into a contender and they are all still really young. Even Jackson started to round into form towards the end of the season. There's plenty to look forward to with this team. Edit: Just to clarify, I only follow the Mavs. Once they miss the playoffs, etc. I stop paying attention.2 points

Just FYI...looking like one big Caravan this year...tentative date is June 1st...a Saturday...location in Arlington to be announced. Soooo..make plans now to attend. Lots of coaches, players, kids “stuff”, food, etc. Just trying something different it appears. Let’s pack the place and have a great Mean Green time. Mark your calendars now...and find a friend to carpool with! Edit: A Denton Caravan stop has been added for Denton @ Apogee1 point

UNT Women's Tennis (seeded #5) came from behind to beat FIU (seeded#4) 4-3 to advance to the semifinals in Houston at the CUSA Tournament. FIU had beaten the Mean Green 4-0 in Florida (played rest of matches after the official 4-0 loss to show 4-3 score). Maria Kononova, the #1 UNT player, did not play in that match. She quickly won her match in straight sets today. All other matches went to the third set, with UNT pulling out the victory in the last match. Big victory over last year's CUSA champs! Play #1 seeded Old Dominion tomorrow...will be extremely tough to beat this nationally ranked team. Hope the confidence is there and that the team did not leave it all on the court in the tense match today. GO MEAN GREEN!1 point

https://www.underdogdynasty.com/conference-usa/2019/4/5/18296187/conference-usa-might-need-to-search-for-a-new-home-as-bein-sports-fails-to-gain-traction With a deal in place with ESPN and CBS Sports already in motion to carry a good amount of football and basketball games on ESPN3, ESPN+ and the CBS Sports Network (as well as Stadium on Facebook and Twitter), it’s a good chance that one of these carriers will pick up the 10 games that beIN Sports televised last season.1 point

At our 9th Annual Spirit Classic kickball game silent auction, I bid on and “won” a certificate for two Club Hub seats for the opening day Mean Green football game against ACU on Aug. 31st. I have Club seats so, don’t actually need these...just wanted to support the silent auction. So, I am willing to sell them to anyone who would like to have them. They are valued at $300.00. I paid $125.00. If you are interested PM me. You know it is going to be hot on the 31st, so why not try these out? You might like it enough to get Hub Club seats for the rest of the season...who knows? Mods...if you need to move this to the ticket exchange, feel free to do so. Happy Easter everyone.1 point

When considering both the office of SGA president and vice president, men have occupied these positions 79.3 percent of the time, while women make up 20.5 percent of the occupants of those offices. Numerically, 116 men and 30 women have been either SGA president or vice president Have to wonder what the other .2 were?? Was the Albino Squirrel elected??1 point

I loved BeIN when they were on TV sets, as they always treated CUSA with respect and put out a decent product. However, with the current situation to where they are being carried, extending is simply not an option, this needs to stop now until they figure their side out. Better to put those games on Facebook, Stadium, CBSsports if possible or if we need to go the route of evil: ESPN+1 point
