  1. I had a young man come over this morning (Sat) to mow my yard. He showed up in an Arkansas sweatshirt. I asked him what his Arkansas connection was. He said he doesn't like it anymore and only wears it to mow yards. He said he stopped liking Arkansas after the North Texas game. GO MEAN GREEN

  2. Glad to see one of my favorite college football sites up and running again! Check out the site, it’s quite interesting. Anyways...here’s another offseason post. GMG! https://swcroundup.com/news/2019/4/18/another-season-of-high-expectations-for-the-mean-green

  5. Just FYI...looking like one big Caravan this year...tentative date is June 1st...a Saturday...location in Arlington to be announced. Soooo..make plans now to attend. Lots of coaches, players, kids “stuff”, food, etc. Just trying something different it appears. Let’s pack the place and have a great Mean Green time. Mark your calendars now...and find a friend to carpool with! Edit: A Denton Caravan stop has been added for Denton @ Apogee

  6. UNT Women's Tennis (seeded #5) came from behind to beat FIU (seeded#4) 4-3 to advance to the semifinals in Houston at the CUSA Tournament. FIU had beaten the Mean Green 4-0 in Florida (played rest of matches after the official 4-0 loss to show 4-3 score). Maria Kononova, the #1 UNT player, did not play in that match. She quickly won her match in straight sets today. All other matches went to the third set, with UNT pulling out the victory in the last match. Big victory over last year's CUSA champs! Play #1 seeded Old Dominion tomorrow...will be extremely tough to beat this nationally ranked team. Hope the confidence is there and that the team did not leave it all on the court in the tense match today. GO MEAN GREEN!

  10. AD Wren Baker tossing out “first pitch” today to none other than Scrappy. OK, a tad in front of the plate but, Scrappy got a single out of his “first bat”. Too much fun today...beautiful weather. Thanks to all who came out to support these student-athletes. And, a big thanks to all our sponsors and donors! Could not do it without each and everyone of you! 💚💚

  19. APRIL 20th - SATURDAY - 11:00am Start - PEB FIELD! It's On! OK...We are back on! We will be playing the Spirit Kickball Classic next Saturday, April 20th, on the PEB Field at UNT. Same start time as originally planned...11:00AM. For those not sure where the PEB Field is located it is at NORTH TEXAS BLVD and Chestnut St. You can park in Fouts and just cross the street to the field. It is that big open field across from the Rec Center. So...no stands, so bring a lawn/sports type chair for your use if you are playing and/or watching. If you have extras...sure bring them along...we could use them. We will set the silent auction up on tables as well as the concession stand. If you have already signed up to play...you are "good to go"...no need to re-register. If you are now abailable to play and would like to...just use the following link: https://one.unt.edu/annual-spirit-classic If you can't play, but would like to donate, the following link is available: https://one.unt.edu/annual-spirit-classic-donation-page So, come on out...got some new donation items from athletics just this week...a UNT barbeque set (really cool spatula, tongs and knife set), a small wooden (with Mean Green logo) wine/beer cooler and TWO HUB CLUB tickets to the 2019 MEAN GREEN opener against ACU on 8/31/19. So, silent auction is shaping up nicely. Come on out...check out the game and silent auction. It is going to be fun and will certainly help out some very deserving Mean Green Student athletes. ON...and at this point...weather forecast looks great for the 20th...79 degrees and sunny! Yippeeeeee!!!! Keeping all fingers and toes crossed.

  21. Had a super day to play and a super time playing. And, we made several thousand dollars in support of our UNT Spirit Teams. And, thanks to some of our wonderful supporters we had some great silent auction items...including this Frisco RoughRider Goodie bag being displayed by several of our Cheer team members. I can truthfully say that a great time was had by all. Maybe the great brisket sandwiches provided by untdadx2 had a big part to play in our having such a good time. I can say from experience...they were delicious!!! Yep...it will be kickball again for year 10 of the Spirit Classic in 2020!

  22. From what I could find the all-time best record for the softball team is 31-22 set back in 2014. At 29-15 North Texas is looking pretty good to break that mark.

  27. They said at the Collin County mixer tonight that CC will be 6/1 at Texas Live in Arlington. The Rangers play the Royals that afternoon so it should be a full day. Also, they announced Six Flags Day on 6/15.

  28. I am a Graham Harrell fan, but I honestly believe we have upgraded this coaching position.

  29. Over the last nine games last year we scored over 31 points twice. With a quarterback like Fine, the way college football is today and a mediocre conference like CUSA, that isn't that good. Especially when our D gave up an average of 28 points a game during that stretch. Go look what Utah State averaged in the MWC, a conference most believe is better than CUSA. They scored over forty points seven out of their last ten games and many of those were over 50. I don't even know who the USU QB is and I live in Utah. We averaged 28 points over the last nine games which is just about the NCAA average. Not good when you have the best QB in the history of the program. I don't know if Harrell was the problem but I didn't watch this offense and think we were out scheming people. Reeder has to do better.

  30. Did we ever make second half adjustments or just play not to loose with Harrell. Skip and La Tech has schooled us on second half adjustments!

  31. Have to sort of agree with FFR here....why are folks trying to find ways to make “something out of nothing”? Not just this, but this “victim” garbage is getting way out of hand. Give it a rest folks and move along. With all this global warming shouldn’t all the snowflakes be melting by now? 😂😂🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

  37. As a Track and Field guy, all of those times are mediocre at best. The 11.55 is ungodly slow. You would not even make it out of your high school district meet with that time. I ran faster than 23.28 as a freshman in high school so that is seriously slow. The 21.40 is your best time in this group and that would not even get you past the regionals in high school. At 100 meters, you need to be 10.4 or faster. At 200 meters, you need to be 21 flat or better. At 400 meters, you should be 47 high at least. The long jump should be at least 22'.
