  1. Good article on Reeder and his Offensive Philosophy: https://www.texasfootball.com/article/2019/04/16/how-bodie-reeder-plans-to-build-winning-offense-at-north-texas?ref=article_preview_img

  2. But it fits the recent popular narrative of victimhood.. It’s just like when the women’s coach for Notre Dame, Muffet McGraw used her press conference during their Final Four run to soap box about the same rediculous non issue, spouting statistics and complaining of the low number of women in power positions like elected office, head coaching, C.E.O...etc.. She later embarrassed herself by unknowingly invalidating her complaints when asked after getting her ass kicked (by another female coach...LOL)..in the championship game,...if she planned on resigning now and running for office? To which she replied no, she was happy doing the job she had. With that answer she added herself to the same statistics she was complaining about and proved why those statistics exist,...choice. There’s no horrific grand scheme to keep women from positions of power. They simply do not seek elected office at the same level of numbers that men do. So silly. Rick

  3. Over the last nine games last year we scored over 31 points twice. With a quarterback like Fine, the way college football is today and a mediocre conference like CUSA, that isn't that good. Especially when our D gave up an average of 28 points a game during that stretch. Go look what Utah State averaged in the MWC, a conference most believe is better than CUSA. They scored over forty points seven out of their last ten games and many of those were over 50. I don't even know who the USU QB is and I live in Utah. We averaged 28 points over the last nine games which is just about the NCAA average. Not good when you have the best QB in the history of the program. I don't know if Harrell was the problem but I didn't watch this offense and think we were out scheming people. Reeder has to do better.

  4. Double header tomorrow. We could still take the division and overall regular season crown and the top seed in the post season conference tournament if things fall our way. Of the top 6 teams..3 in the West, 3 in the east we have one of the more favorable remaining conference schedules. After this weekend we play at UAB and Middle in Denton.. La Tech, which is just ahead of us still has to face WKY and Southern Miss. We need Tech and wKY to lose to get the top seed. If not as long as we take care of ourselves we will still be sitting good for the tournament. Rick

  7. Have to sort of agree with FFR here....why are folks trying to find ways to make “something out of nothing”? Not just this, but this “victim” garbage is getting way out of hand. Give it a rest folks and move along. With all this global warming shouldn’t all the snowflakes be melting by now? 😂😂🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

  18. Those aren’t d1 college track times but for a football player they are very solid times. If you’re a skill kid and can run high 10s you’re good. If you’re running 11.55 and you’re an DE/LB most would take that any day of the week. It’s not ungodly slow for a football player. For a D1 track kid: yes.

  19. Either way, analogies aside, our short yardage game needed to be reworked from the ground up and it sounds like he did that. Using different personnel packages should help us. If everything you do is 4 wide with one back or 5 wide, it's not hard for the defense to key in on what you were doing. Harrell's, and largely air raid's, philosophy isn't to trick or disguise what you're going to run necessarily, but to out execute the opponent. Getting more diverse with the formations and personnel should help keep the defense guessing. Another article had Fine mention that Reeder wants more pre-snap defense identification versus Harrell's progression based decision making. This, theoretically, will be good for the evolution of Fine as a quarterback and I wouldn't be at all surprised if Mason ends up calling his own plays to adjust for different defensive looks in this new version of the offense. On paper, I am really excited about the Reeder hire. We'll just have to see how it does on Saturdays.

  22. Well that driver is Fine and I don’t think he failed to block on short yardage carries. The mere fact that a new approach is being adopted says to me that the problem was recognized and addressed by Reeder’s hiring.

  24. When considering both the office of SGA president and vice president, men have occupied these positions 79.3 percent of the time, while women make up 20.5 percent of the occupants of those offices. Numerically, 116 men and 30 women have been either SGA president or vice president Have to wonder what the other .2 were?? Was the Albino Squirrel elected??

  25. This loss to Port St was a turning point for the football program. The loss was humiliating, but the immediate firing of Mc and eating the balance of his salary showed a change was coming. What if we beat PS and go 500 that year would we be enjoying today’s success? Was the loss worth it? A lot of pain for a lot of gain. GMG

  29. As a Track and Field guy, all of those times are mediocre at best. The 11.55 is ungodly slow. You would not even make it out of your high school district meet with that time. I ran faster than 23.28 as a freshman in high school so that is seriously slow. The 21.40 is your best time in this group and that would not even get you past the regionals in high school. At 100 meters, you need to be 10.4 or faster. At 200 meters, you need to be 21 flat or better. At 400 meters, you should be 47 high at least. The long jump should be at least 22'.

  33. Everyone generally struggles against a dual-threat QB (which is why basically everyone in the college game is looking for one), but I feel like we have been particularly susceptible to them over the past several years. Under the current system, it might be because of the attacking nature of the defense resulting in LBs being upfield when the QB takes off, thus allowing running lanes and allowing him to get to the next level untouched.

  35. Because...that is the correct answer. You build this great facility, start paying decent coaching salaries, and then see an epic disaster occur on Homecoming when your AD schedules the only OOC home game against a team from the Pacific NW that is FCS and watch said team prison rape us in front of the biggest crowd of the season while the team acts like they don’t care. Thats all it took...

  40. King is going to be tough. He's a very smart player. But I think Lil' Briles' offense had a lot to do with the explosion of production there. Holgorsen's offense isn't as fast-paced, so maybe his production will slow down a little. Whereas, on the flipside, maybe Reeder's offense will allow Fine's production to increase.

  41. "The Duo: QB Mason Fine and WR Rico Bussey Jr. Fine's History: Heading into his senior year, Fine is already a North Texas legend. He holds the program record for career passing yards (9,417) and is just six touchdowns from breaking that mark as well. The school's single-best season win total is nine, which Fine has matched in both years as the full-time starter. Bussey's History: As a sophomore, Bussey ranked third on the Mean Green with 47 catches and 677 yards. But last year, he recorded team-high totals of 68 receptions, 1,017 yards and 12 scores. 2019 Outlook: North Texas is loaded in 2019. Fine headlines an offense that returns Bussey, a second-team All-C-USA running back (DeAndre Torrey) and two 400-yard wideouts (Jaelon Darden and Michael Lawrence). As long as UNT finds its offensive tackles, Fine should threaten for the 4,000-yard mark with 1,000-plus to Bussey." Nice article and another pic of Fine to go with it.
