  1. Our girls are kicking their ass 10-1 in the bottom of the 4th. Trautwein has only given up one hit thru 4. Rick

  2. How about recruiting the best guys you can get (priority to bigs) and stop trying to peg them into a system (small ball) that has not worked in this conference and later on in the year; when shots aren't falling. Let's see if the coach can coach and recruit. The 2018 class was a complete bust. Good luck with trying to get a coach to run off his own guys 1 year after they signed. (although needed)

  3. The stat that you should look at in general is pressures and hurries. Those mean Fine was able to avoid a sack and continue with the play, add those numbers up and our OL play was not to the standard that is acceptable in this offense. Some of it was our tempo, run a big play sprint down the field got the DL tired, because they're big too but then we check with sideline and sub two guys in well now they get to sub in, so they run 4 new DL out who are fresh and our big guys are now tired. I think with Bodie Reeder new OC you won't see that as much as you will get to the line and run another play while they're also tired.

  4. I hope so. It will be a challenge to stop the better C-USA offenses with only 9 players on defense.

  5. This brings up a topic - in the Utah St bowl loss or in any of our losses, was Fine either hurried / hit or sacked more so than in games we won? As I re-watched the Arkansas win, Fine was often hurried and hit and sacked, as well as his throws being tipped or blocked...I guess what I’m trying to say is was the tackle play as good as this article says? My thought throughout the season was keep Fine healthy, the whole offense revolves around him staying injury-free, so every time he got hit or sacked, I was a glass-half-empty kind of guy. So is 28 sacks per season a good stat, meaning if we keep that number around there, will we be good? Obviously less is better...I always thought we had way too many. This is a key question for sure. Just answering my own post I guess...

  7. Pretty good post. And by the way, that whole "97% of scientists believe..." deal? It speaks to your point above that I have bolded. Follow the $. It will never lead you astray. There is an entire industry in place and continuing to be built. And the great thing about it, is that it is self-sustaining with your tax $ for "more research", which they are ALWAYS going to need to prevent the impending catastrophe. It's the perfect machine! Again--we should be mindful of and good stewards of the earth's resources. Just don't sell me chckensheet and tell me it's chicken salad. http://www.populartechnology.net/2013/05/97-study-falsely-classifies-scientists.html

  13. We need a legit backup to Z Simmons. That's priority #1 for me. Priority #2 is someone who can replace Miller. We need a slasher who can make free throws. Tiko was supposed to be a gamer. I have that on the authority of a former coach with Mac's staff. No idea what's gone on there. He was the x factor missing from this team. A guy on the outside that could shoot over anyone. If he's done here I'd like to see another pure shooter added.

  14. I do agree that people should listen to both sides and make us their minds. I usually put much less, to zero credence on those for either side who claim to be the only ones that know what's correct and if you disagree with them, on anything, your wrong. All things being said, a lot of predictions, on both sides are crapshoots. Have you ever notices there seems to be a correlation between the results and those funding the studies Since the 60's we were going to - Run out of breathable air Run out of water Run out of fossil fuels The next ice age was coming Global temperatures would rise to the point where would all melt And so on and so on. As the Billy Joel song said so well, "We didn't start the fire". Can and should changes be made - yes. Has progress been made - yes. One of my frustrations is that many want to put the blame and responsibility on the U.S. and us alone. Not many seemed to have issues with the fact that the Paris Accord would not hold many other countries to the standards that the US was to be held to, but they were expecting us to pay the largest share. Also, places like China, Russia, and India are not measuring and reporting the same way we do. Some other, Have you ever wondered .... How do these protesters for both sides afford to fly all over the place? How many of the ones preaching fly in private planes? How many of these Global conferences are help in the most expensive and luxurious locations?

  20. We don’t have a true big. Question: is this because 1) Mac is not prioritizing it, or 2) he can’t find one? Maybe a little of both?

  21. Draper has the best 3 point percentage, but not by a lot. Gibson is a close 2nd in %, but throws them up a lot more. If you value contribution, it’s not like he’s scoring a ton off the bench. he’s averaged 4 ppg this year. i wonder if a lot of the positivity about Draper is carry over from what he did at the end of last year. i like his hustle and intangibles, tho.

  22. I"m super reluctant to leave that strategy, but I get what you're saying. It's a problem with no easy solution. Maybe the path becomes a little clearer with a few 10-win, championship seasons under our belt.

  23. I am not advocating running anyone off, but this is done all the time. If a player doesn't significantly contribute after year two and sometimes sooner, he is usually gone in the majority of programs. Jones was an exception when he was here, and usually kept most of his signees.

  26. I want some more size on the team. We need some big bodies on the floor. I don't think Z Simmons plays aggressive enough because he knows he has no backup.

  28. I mostly agree with your assessment. NT as stated returns a very strong nucleus next year. Returning 4 double digit scorers is very impressive: Gibson 12.6, Woolridge 11.7, Zack Simmons 10.2 and Smart 10.7. Returning a guard rotation of Woolright, Gibson, Draper, Smart plus Johnson and Wise looks good. The only knowns in the front court are the Simmons. We really know nothing about the redshirted bigs and Alcindor who burned his shirt but barely hit the floor. Has Tikhonenko really been injured and still maybe someone that McCasland has in his plans. A 6'10 player with a good shoot is hard to give up on. Mohammed is actually listed as a guard and he may have been redshirted simply because McCasland thought he was loaded at that position. McCasland will add another guard and at least least one big. The priority has to be a front court playing that can play the five. I think NT needs someone who can rebound and defend the basket as a priority. I don't like NT's lineup with 6'4 Simmons being the tallest player. Any offense from this player would be a bonus. Smart getting back to sophomore form might be the biggest add NT could get.

  31. I will take him for defense bursts any game. Analytics can only tell you so much. Offensively he is probably our worst player (other than maybe Alcindor), but his hustle is always welcome.

  32. And the Democratic Party is dumb enough to let her be the mouthpiece of the party along with basically ignoring Omar, the D-Gov of Virginia, his Attorney General and the third in line’s racism and sexism. Funny how they march, protest, accost, yell, scream, etc... when it is someone like Kavanaugh from the Right but sweep this away all with the benefit of the mainstream media when it is one of their own.

  33. Its them or La Tech. Either team will be difficult. I will be there at 8:30 ready to cheer them on.

  34. Exactly we lose by 50 or win by 3.... either way we aren’t getting hire than an 8 seed. Let them play instead of risking injury. Nba teams do this all the time before the playoffs.

  35. I didn’t suggest starting the walk on. I suggested starting Alcindor. In my opinion this game means nothing. The only people who would benefit from playing in this game are Alcindor, Arikawe, Smart, Draper and the walk on. Maybe Woolridge a few minutes just to make sure he can go for the tournament. No one else has anything to gain from the game and a whole lot to lose.
    1 point
  36. Yea I wouldn’t have started him but I would have given him 10-12 minutes as well. Im puzzled as to why we are risking injuries to a team that has been beat up all year in a game that doesn’t matter.
    1 point
  37. As others have mentioned, coaching was a factor. To me, we also need to remember the 3 injuries that took place in the LaTech game: Easley, Hall, and Fine. Easley was picking up steam and ended up missing the rest of the year. Hall missed the rest of the LaTech game, missed the next 3 games, and returned against UAB (not the easiest opponent to come back against). Fine missed no time but was never the same as we often saw him hobbling around during and after the LaTech game. So in short, our best member of the secondary, most physical offensive weapon, and our star QB. That LaTech game affected the team for the rest of the year IMO.

  38. The same thing that happens to EVERY Air Raid offense. Towards the end of each season the opposing DC’s have pinpointed the rout tendencies and applies pressure on the QB...limiting the amount of time he has to find the open man that isn’t there. A few three and outs later that force your defense to stay on the field and suddenly your behind and your defense is exhausted. Then.....as always is the case,... the Air Raid mindset goes into overdrive believing it can throw it’s way out of the mess and things get worse. Rinse and repeat. Look at all the great Mike Leach offensive-minded teams over the years. At tech...he’d run the score up on a Gary Patterson defense early in the season...then falter towards the end of every year when the big 12 DC’s had enough film to study. Even now at Wazzu,....every damn year he gets everyone all excited with record-setting offenses, mind blowing stats and QB’s and WR’s,...then gets to Chris Peterson’s Washington Huskies and loses and often times badly. Peterson understands the importance of placing his first emphasis on defense and running the ball which is a must in order to control field position, the clock and the game. Rick

  42. It begs the question: what changed? How were we able to dominate an SEC team in the second half but not LaTech or UAB? How did Rice and UTEP have good halves against us? I think many of us believe that teams began to anticipate our play calling. Will a new OC be a difference maker in the back end of the season in 2019?
