  1. I wouldn’t use his lack of media rounds as a gauge of how well he’s settled in. He’s definitely a blue collar kind of guy and keeps his head down. We rarely saw or heard from him. Not that he’s unapproachable and he had a great relationship with the staff and the players loved him. He just doesn’t seek it out. I would guess that he’s happy. What more could a guy ask for? Expecting his first child and his in-laws are in Dallas.

  2. Exactly—that last couple of years here were just disastrous for Chico’s ledger with the QBs we rolled with. His tests allowed McNulty to start because he graded out well, but his offensive schemes were so basic and none of his QBs could ever make plays. McNulty was a FCS QB that got here because of his dad and McCarney, nothing more, nothing less. Greer was a Division 2 talent that fooled them because of his height. He might have been the worst QB we have ever use to start a game. There was a reason that SL immediately looked at the QBs and said, nope, none of these can play. Who can I get to come here instead? Welcome Morris from Bama’s Bench and then a call to Locust Grove, OK for Mason Fine. Ironically enough, Mason Fine would have never even been invited to play here as a walk-on solely because of his height under Chico/Mac. That alone should tell you the difference between their styles of coaching and development.

  7. Does seem to look better. But, what will look a whole lot better is a new arena controlled by athletics that is up to date inside and out. Got to say...athletic facilities are really being upgraded! That is, indeed, a very good thing.

  8. 247 Page: https://247sports.com/Player/Brendon-Lewis-46036862/ Hudl Page:http://www.hudl.com/profile/7929951/Brendon-Lewis UNT Football held its 2019 Junior day on Monday February 18, 2019 (Presidents Day this year). A highly ranked group of prospects attended the Denton event. These top 2020 targets were invited to come check out the facilities and meet and hang out with the staff. They also were able to meet with the new staff additions, including new offensive coordinator Bodie Reeder who was previously at Eastern Washington. One of the biggest recruits in New Denton Monday was Melissa High School 4-star Quarterback Brendon Lewis. In his junior season, Lewis led Melissa his with over 4000 total yards and 50 touchdowns. His big junior season has culminated in over 15 offers, including teams like Mississippi State, TCU, Texas Tech and Nebraska. Despite that lofty listing, Lewis likes what he has seen from North Texas so far. Seeing what Seth Littrell and Mason Fine have been able to accomplish together in their 3 years in North Texas has made it a compelling destination for offensive players. I had a chance to talk to the 4 Star QB to see how his visit to New Denton went. GMG: How was the atmosphere at JR day today? Brendon Lewis (BL): “It was great, the coaches made me feel like family. They just gave off a good vibe and I felt a great connection with all of them.” GMG Did you have a chance to meet new Offensive Coordinator Boodie Reeder? BL “Yes, I spent almost the whole day with him. I love him already. He’s a great guy. He’s smart and I just loved talking ball with him. He knows what he’s doing, and our relationship is already great. He made a good impression on me. I could go on and on about him” GMG Mason Fine has had a lot of success with the North Texas offense the last few years. With him graduating after next season does it intrigue you that quarterback position will be wide open, and you could come in and start at QB early? Or is that not a major factor? BL “It is a pretty big factor seeing how well Mason is doing it and Coach Littrell’s history of developing QBs. It makes me excited to have a chance to come in early and compete for the job and playing in that offense that would be a lot of fun.” GMG What other factors are going to be big factors in your decision. Close to home? Biggest offer? or best fit? BL “Really the place that feels like home and the coaches who make me feel like family. And just being real with me. I want to go to the place that is the best fit for me to accomplish my dreams and aspirations which are to play at the next level as well as providing a good education for my life after football.”

  9. New offer out. 6’7” JUCO forward from Navarro college, averaging 13.4 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game, shooting 54% from the field and 36% from three. Originally from Montreal. Holds 6 other D1 offers including Oregon State, East Carolina, and San Diego. Seems like a good candidate to play the four in Mccasland’s system. https://247sports.com/Player/James-Jean-Marie-46079055/ http://njcaaregion14.com/sports/mbkb/2018-19/players/jamesjeanmariecsq5?view=splits&pos=sh http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/james-jean-marie

  12. If you saw the 2007 North Texas/Navy game, you might change your mind. Seeing that mess after watching the Booger, Spencer, Buckles, Jones, etc... led defenses during our SBC run was disheartening.

  13. So, if I understand correctly, you were so anxious to pin the label 'infanticide' on a nasty progressive, that you were willing to take the term completely out of context. The article was about an idea - the Green New Deal - that can & is supported by a wide spectrum of intelligent people of different political affiliations and ideologies. You should real the draft and make an intelligent decision on what you agree with & what you don't. To simply say you reject the entire idea makes you an ideologue, and I think you're better than that

  14. The problem with this is that TX HS football doesn’t produce defensive players anymore since we play glorified 7-on-7. Thats why DLinemen are such a premium and usually go to big schools. Otherwise, it’s developing your linemen into becoming bigger guys and scheming differently.

  16. Creating a higher level of college competition would kill other programs not help them. Who won the national FCS championship last year, you may know; but I and most of America do not. NT playing in 1aa was a disaster for the program that took years to recover from.

  20. I opined prior to the Greene statue, that King and Haynes should be the first. That story goes way beyond athletic greatness. Fine may be in line too, but there is another season to play and a lot of years left for that honor. An aside, I found this article from the daily a big improvement over their current normal.

So, if you want to play...we hope you do...let me have your t-shirt size along with your commitment. Player Registration Fee: $35.00 (includes player t-shirt)

  23. Ever done a golf tournament before? I have...tons and tons of work to do it correctly, and it is why I did not create this event as a golf tournament nine years ago when we started these events, but I am up for this if you want to be the main thrust in running it...no problem doing two events. The more the merrier. If you want to meet to discuss the idea further, just let me know.

  29. Sorry for the long post. A lot of people are against eminent domain and I hope to shed some light on the process. Eminent Domain is based on "for the public good". It is the question that must be proven in court. Below are two examples: In this picture the homeowner would not sell and they built the freeway around it with no easement for the owner to get to the property. The highest and best use for this property was and is the freeway. Eminent Domain should have been used. (This was in China a country with no eminent domain laws. The term for these are Nail Houses) In the below photo the builder wanted to build a 3 story mixed use facility by buying out the 1920's home. Edith Macefield the homeowner would not sell. Highest and best use is the mixed use building but it was not for the public good it was for private good, no eminent domain was nor could be used. (the builder attempted to use the "public good" argument after she refused $1,000,000 for this $90,000 home and lost.) The question as whether to use eminent domain for these parcels is what is highest and best use for this property? Then if the highest and best use if for the public good. So if you ask the question which is the highest and best use for the property? A sub shop or an academic building of a major university? In my opinion University is the highest use for the property. Next question is the public university for the "public good" the answer is yes. Next is compensation - according to the Denton Central Appraisal District the Appraised and Assessed Value is $260,000. This will be the starting point for the negotiations begin. Sub Hub will claim business loss as part of the condemnation case. In Texas there are 3 steps. 1)Negotiation between UNT and NY Sub Hub - A "bona fide" offer must me made to the landowner along with a certified appraisal, both in writing 2)Special Commissioners' hearing - Three commissioners will be selected to determine the property value and damages. (Damages are not granted in the 5th amendment and are too speculative to calculate. (Kimball Laundry Co v. United States, 1949) But in Texas we will try to access damages to keep the landowner whole. 3)Appeal through a civil condemnation suit. If either party disagrees with the Commissioners' decision - both parties are responsible for their own attorneys' fees. Most times the process doesn't even get to the commissioners hearings as the condemnor usually makes a fair market price offer plus damages. If I recall correctly the Texas Pickup caught fire and burned to the ground on the morning of the commissioners' hearing. There was speculation that is was not a grease fire but nothing was ever proven (some claimed insurance fraud and some claimed university interference) and the University purchased the land at fair market value and built traditions hall.

  30. Climate change is global Rick. What difference does it make which side of the border those children are living on?
    1 point
  31. What makes you think previous episodes of climatic change are never considered or discussed? Every geology text and earth history text discusses these in detail. The difference between these earlier episodes and today's is that today the cause is anthropogenic. Which mean we could do something about it if we only had the will.

  32. No Rick, I didn't miss the memo. We need to have fewer children - not zero children.

  39. No dude, you, a hard core leftist democrat...mentioned concern for children in your fantasy about Man Made Global Cooling/Man Made Global Warming/Man Made Climate Change/Climate Change. I was simply being a smart ass at that notion that your concern for climate change is about children because your side has decided to go off the reservation in regards to concern for children...(unless they’re immigrating children of course) and have chosen to start legally murdering them after birth. Thats all on your party...thus on you as well. . Rick

  40. The only feasible way, would be to rob everyone down to at least the lowest level millionaires, and when that doesn't cover the bills, they would basically have to shutdown the military and close the criminal justice system. Of course the remaining balance would be paid for by simply printing money, or so says Ocasio.
