  1. Said it many times before, and I’ll say it again: I love this athletic administration. One of the best things we ever did was fire RV.

  2. So that only leaves money games at Texas A&M in 2020, Missouri in 2021, and Wisconsin in 2025. I'm okay with ending all those series. Future home and home with Houston, Cal, Baylor, Tulane, Wyoming, Army, and Texas Tech. I'm glad we are telling people to come to Denton or we are not interested.

  3. When 2027 rolls around those games against Baylor will probably be Conference games.

  4. Well crap! I'll either be too old or dead to make those games. When you fans head to NOLA to play Tulane, have a shot or two of whiskey in honor of DeepGreen who couldn't make it for some reason.

  5. Conversely, we could also not care and let them say whatever stupid crap they want and not let it impact us in any way. Just throwing out another idea.

  8. Because it's fun, your should try it. And he sucked in so many ways. Now that I got my sarcasm out of the way, here's a more serious response. While he may have done a few good things during his tenure, the mind wonders how much more someone else like WB could have done and accomplished during that time. The longer that WB is here and the more WB does, the more I wonder how far we would be if we never hired him. In his 15 years here, I'm guessing someone like WB would have been able to accomplish what RV did in about 5-7 years. So by my own estimation, that puts our athletic programs behind by about 8-10 years. I'm glad to have him as a fan and supporter. But he shouldn't have been the AD for nearly as long as he was. I have moved on to supporting WB and company. However, I like to take opportunities like this to reminisce and show my appreciation that RV is gone.

  9. https://sicem365.com/forums/2/topics/40051 BU fans are a little mad. Some clearly haven't come to terms with their current and future station in the Big 12. This is great for North Texas. The ability to schedule home/homes is a good sign of how our athletics department is viewed by peer institutions.

  10. After expenses, a moderately well attended home game nets North Texas about the same as a money game on the road. I look forward to seeing 7 home games on our schedule. GO MEAN GREEN

  12. Love the home and homes. Keep winning games, and don't accept moneybag games.

  13. RV would have scheduled Mary Hardin Baylor for home and then blamed Tulane for making us schedule Portland State for the second time on Homecoming in 2028...

  14. DRC: UNT hammered Baylor in 2003 in one of the memorable games in recent program history https://www.dentonrc.com/sports/unt-announces-football-series-with-baylor-tulane/article_dfc0c46d-7769-5ed4-8f65-916e352b62f8.html

  17. I didn't mention that UTA had been dropped in my post, it is generally poor form to throw dirt on another school. Since you brought it up, UTA did in fact get dropped and they had to file a protest to get reinstated. I'm sure you can imagine that they won't go on a PR tour touting that information. Our condolences to your basketball program. All kidding aside the more T1 schools in Texas the better, I think the state generally gets overlooked in higher ed.

  18. I like how they refer to us as a cupcake, smaller school and also excuse their road games to smuT, NutsaCK, Rice and TSUSM as being close to large metro areas. My goodness that school is full of idiots. Note to Baker, have replacements on the ready for smuT and Baylor. The way they run their programs, they may be gone by the time these games come around.

  21. Looks like both Baylor games will be season openers. September 1, 2029 vs. the Bears in Denton should be a packed house!

  22. Negating size/strength advantages on the edges with a (relatively) new approach to finding match-ups seems good for the rest of us, though.

  23. 4 of 5 50/50 challenges went the way of the Pats. And with the Chiefs ahead in the 4th on a I believe 3rd and 7 a roughing the passer was calld on the Chiefs. Biggest joke of the roughing the passer I have ever seen. Pats got the auto and took the ball down the field and scored a go ahead TD. The Chiefs were spinning it on O and would've went up 2 scores and probably would've won.

  27. Or the losing hires he made over and over that led to UNT being a big pile of suck. Or the country club manner in which he "led" the department to the point of running people off and not really giving a fuuu. The donors he brainwashed and was stuck in content of not driving the envelope for more. And even had he wanted to he couldn't, because of the aforementioned suck. I will thank him for his part in getting Apogee, whatever part he had in that.

  28. I remember chalk holders like that one. I also had one of those plastic football position tracer (or whatever you call it) when I took the Coaching Football class at North Texas. I may still have it somewhere.

  33. Revolutionary if you hate 'Bama. But I wonder if this is generally bad for college football if you want equality. The Clemson-'bama rivalry is fueling interest at the top of the CFP, and my guess is it furthers the divide between them and the rest of us.

  36. Regardless of whether or not he is NFL-ready, how can you possibly bad-mouth a kid who has already gotten his degree? Say what you about his drops, etc., but he was a guy that defenses had to account for.

  38. a million times this. I don't get the obsession some have with building out as big as possible unless it's purely ego. Basketball here gets built through atmosphere and then subsequently scarcity. We need 5-6 thousand...which means we'll probably end up in 7500 (because...ego) 6000-7000 puts us in similar company with basketball programs like Gonzaga, Northern Iowa and Villanova. Hell, our glory basketball days were housed in the old Snake Pit...and that place was only code to 80 people.

  39. https://meangreennation.com/class-of-2019-national-signing-day/ I wrote a piece on MGN that details where I think each signee will fit in our scheme. Adam wrote a piece also linked in the article that goes into detail on each position in our base offense and defense.

  41. We technically had a 10-win season in 1977 (I think), but one of those wins came via a forfeit by Mississippi State. It's not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison to have a double digit win season now, considering 12-game seasons are a relatively new development, as are conference championship games and bowl games for over 70 teams.
