Exciting game... First Mean Green Basketball game I've been to in a decade. I wasn't expecting much from the crowd and came out pleasantly surprised. Great atmosphere. The Rice Coach should have been T'ed up multiple times in the last 5 minutes. When he started going after the ref after the conclusion it looked like he was lunging at the kids sitting on the hardwood under the basket. I think even they kids thought he was going after them. The Rice coach had 3 or 4 grown man assistants restraining him.7 points

The realization is that this team isn’t a good FT shooting team & they will struggle offensively at times all season, especially when they get in a half court lull.. they aren’t big nor should they play big (Tope & Zach don’t really ever need to be on the floor together like suggested) the strength is undoubtedly the guard play & creating mismatches with space... I’d love to get out & run more often, but that’s just me.. conference play is a burner. Is for just about every program in every conference, that’s just how the college game goes.. Love how active the press was too, very impressive defending w/o fouling, wonder if GMac goes to it more... Oh & CUSA officiating is a serious problem.. whistles have been wildly inconsistent in every conference game across the whole league.. I was an official & have great compassion for those in that field of work, but it’s borderline comical how bad they’ve been in the games I’ve seen..7 points

Has anyone considered that this team isn’t top 25 or even top of the conference? The early season didn’t tell us much and conference games against inferior have been disappointing. I hope they pull it together, as there is clearly quite a bit of talent on this team. But right now, they are not firing on all cylinders.6 points

The atmosphere is back. That will lead to more people. We aren’t going to overnight start filling the super pit. When we are deciding what size arena to build it needs to be after seeing what crowds look like after a couple more years of this. Things basically started over last year after 5 years of terrible. We are already almost back to what took JJ 10 years to build. I think this is headed in a direction we will all be thrilled with. Edit: I think even though buried under the Benford era, the foundation of what JJ built is still there and in some ways being built off of today.3 points

EJ has made a few tackles, but did get dragged in the end zone on one play. Kemon had a pass break up. A lot of players have our stickers on their helmet.3 points

Just have them bend their knees at the ticket counter LOL. Any jersey will do...2 points

Yeah this team is pretty incredible. How they won that game is unbelievable. Maybe we don’t miss Lawson after all.2 points

I think Tope is a great asset to have as far as a backup big man, but why do you keep acting like he’s an essential part of reaching new heights? We are FAR better off with Simmons on the floor2 points

If Smart can play like he did last season, Miller keeps it up, Woolridge plays smart, and Arikawe gets on the floor a bit more then those records will be toast. It also doesn’t hurt we play 31 instead of 30 regular season games.2 points

If their coach isn’t fined by the league office it is a travesty Also, I’m curious why Simmons didn’t play down the stretch when you needed every rebound you could get2 points

The team our guys played for won 10-7. Nate and Kemon had their names called a few times by the broadcast crew. EJ had a few tackles as well. If they have solid pro days, I think we might finally break the draft drought.2 points

Unfortunately, after some ugly wins in conference and now two losses to bad teams, we might have to admit that we aren't nearly as good as we thought we were based on the early season results.2 points

Love Grant, but I wish he would change things up. He did last year during the CBI, but now we have run the same group and same offensive sets all season pretty much. Teams are adapting and we are not.2 points

They now have markers on the seats for season ticket holders. Definitely a great move by the AD on this one. Literally every game but 2 over the last 4 years and change people were in our seats.2 points

For those interested, the game is at 4pm CT tomorrow on FS1. Featured on the American team are three of our own standouts on defense: E.J. Ejiya, LB Nate Brooks, Corner Kemon Hall, Corner I don't know about y'all, but I'm excited to see three of our players represented. Edit: interesting note, Brent Stockstill, MTSU former QB, is on the opposing team.1 point

I've watched the conversation from the sidelines and am really late to the game with an opinion, but building a new arena with half the current 10k seats just to get 5-10 lux suites feels really wrong after being at The Pit last night. The energy was good and it felt fairly filled in around the 100 level seats. I dont think the correct solution is to essentially get rid of the 200 level. For an aging facility, other than the seats that are tight between the armrests, but not at the seat cushion level (very weird, I'm not a big guy by any means and I had to plan my standing... But when sitting it wasn't tight), The Pit felt in good condition.1 point
