It's my opinion that WB and NS both have thoughts on moving on from CUSA..4 points

Are ya'll talking about those SEC defenses that went 6-5 in bowl games with 3 of the losses coming against Big 12 teams?4 points

Good luck to Cade. He seemed like a good kid. The QB room is just loaded right now.3 points

FYI, Mel Kiper has Ejiya at #9 on his list of inside linebackers.3 points

Been saying it since day 1 of Wren Baker tenure that CUSA was not the end goal or ceiling for North Texas. We have 200,000 + alumni just in DFW. Perfect location. Huge student body. The big 12 is going to dissolve it's a matter of time. There will be a ton of shuffling. President and Wren goal is to be in the best situation as an athletic department and school as a whole. The new big 12 will look drastically different, the AAC will look drastically different. The p5 could become a p6 who knows. But I can promise you we will be in better shape when that day comes than we have been in the last 50 years. The little private school in Dallas has stopped us before but they may not be able to this time around. If we have a football program bowling each year and sniffing top 25, a basketball program sniffing top 25 and having post season success. The rest of the athletic department rocking and rolling. A student body of 36,000 that is growing each year in numbers and athletic support. North Texas will be very very attractive to a conference. GMG3 points

Wren Baker is tops in my book. If we only had him or his equivalent 15 years ago. My gosh, where would we be now?!!3 points

I like to see one game we come out fast and keep the gas down until the last second.2 points

Amen. But... We really did play down to their level most of the game. And if you were at the game, Grant let the players know it. Several times they couldn't look him in the face coming out of the game.2 points

I really hope, behind closed doors, plans are being made to keep Wren around for a long time. In G5, I really believe that Wren can keep us relevant in all sports and continue to grow the brand.2 points

I don’t understand the desire to transfer in conference. Before Baker Mayfield, it was standard operating procedure to block a kid from transferring to any school on your schedule over the rest of their playing career. KSU plays TCU every year. WVU plays OU every year. I don’t understand how this is a foreign concept all of a sudden.2 points

https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/Article/North-Texas-Mean-Green-basketball-needs-Mike-Millers-offensive-versatility-127920521/ On the season, Miller is averaging 10.9 points per game on 55.5 percent shooting which is second best on the team. He also shoots nearly 47 percent from 3-point range and 81.5 percent from the free throw line.2 points

Wren Baker was on my podcast discussing how he is setting up UNT athletics for the long haul. Check it out and share it! https://marketscale.com/industries/sports-and-entertainment/wren-baker2 points

"North Texas redshirt sophomore quarterback Cade Pearson will transfer from the program, according to a source within the organization. Pearson only appeared in one game at UNT. He completed all four passes for 17 yards in a 58-16 win over Incarnate Word on Sept. 8, 2018, after being inserted as the third-string quarterback. However, he quickly fell down the depth chart against a pair of talented true freshmen" https://www.texasfootball.com/article/2019/01/17/reserve-north-texas-quarterback-cade-pearson-intends-to-transfer-from-program?ref=article_preview_img1 point

This is not unexpected. When 4 play in front of you and 3 of them are back, it doesn't look good for future playing time. I wish him well.1 point

Yes but it is concerning that all four of Fine’s backups (including Aune) will be freshmen. Both from an experience standpoint and, more importantly, once one of them is named the starter then the rest will all likely transfer because of how close they are in terms of grade classification.1 point

I hate to see this. He graduated HS early and participated in Spring training his first semester on campus. Should have had more playing time.1 point

Well if you had a one year chance to win a heisman and prepare for the NFL, where would you go? You can’t go to Bama and the Clemson job is locked up. Ohio State? Notre Dame? OU by recent history tends to be a Heisman hotspot and it is also the closest to his home of the contenders. Texas and A&M both have entrenched starters so he wasn’t going to either of those. I’d have gone OU too. Lincoln Riley has produced back to back first round qbs. I can’t see any destination that would be a better opportunity for Hurts to hone his skills for the NFL while being a preseason favorite for the Heisman.1 point

What in the world? Why are these dudes drooling all over UAB? They're losing a ton of 5/6/7-yr seniors including Erdley. Brown's coming back, but that's about it. Are these dudes paying attention?1 point

I'm all for Jalen making the decision he wants to make. He's been a good player for UNT and I believe he graduated in December so he's earned that right. But objectively I think he's making a mistake. When you ask would his draft stock improve, the answer is yes if his production improved, he became more consistent and he eliminated his many drops. I'd argue the other side of this. Coming back won't diminish his draft stock because his draft stock is non existent right now. He won't get drafted. No one has him anywhere near being drafted. It is a class stocked with receivers. His only hope to get drafted would be to come back and have a killer year. I don't fault the young man for chasing his dreams but the reality he is he stood to gain substantially with an impressive senior year and has nothing to lose. That being said, I hope he can get some tryouts, impress a team and catch on. He's one of our own and I'll be hoping for a miracle break through. I think he's making a mistake but it's his life, he earned the right to make the decision and I'm not mad at him.1 point

Proud of him. I love the Nate Brooks story. Young man comes in, wins the starting job, loses the starting job to a JUCO transfer and instead of pouting and getting down on himself, he continued to work, was a good teammate and succeeded this year. And, I would assume he performed above many of our expectations. Nate, Kemon and E.J., go out and make the Mean Green Family proud and earn yourself a job on Sunday afternoons.1 point
