  2. Wren Baker is tops in my book. If we only had him or his equivalent 15 years ago. My gosh, where would we be now?!!

  3. Wren Baker was on my podcast discussing how he is setting up UNT athletics for the long haul. Check it out and share it! https://marketscale.com/industries/sports-and-entertainment/wren-baker

  6. I don't think UAB is headed that low because Clark is a much better coach than Wilson, but they should make a pretty significant step back this year.

  7. I'm all for Jalen making the decision he wants to make. He's been a good player for UNT and I believe he graduated in December so he's earned that right. But objectively I think he's making a mistake. When you ask would his draft stock improve, the answer is yes if his production improved, he became more consistent and he eliminated his many drops. I'd argue the other side of this. Coming back won't diminish his draft stock because his draft stock is non existent right now. He won't get drafted. No one has him anywhere near being drafted. It is a class stocked with receivers. His only hope to get drafted would be to come back and have a killer year. I don't fault the young man for chasing his dreams but the reality he is he stood to gain substantially with an impressive senior year and has nothing to lose. That being said, I hope he can get some tryouts, impress a team and catch on. He's one of our own and I'll be hoping for a miracle break through. I think he's making a mistake but it's his life, he earned the right to make the decision and I'm not mad at him.

  8. So, funny story on that ... I organize a road trip each year for the "biggest game of the year". Doing it now on 16 years. Anyway, one of the members of our group that usually goes to these things has a new small mountain cabin a few hours away from Laramie. And so, yes, he's already putting the pitch on to come out there to the cabin for 2026. I'm like, um, let's worry about Cal first! But, yeah, I know of at least one person tryna to get to Laramie in 2026. haha

  10. Never hurts to have depth at a position like QB, especially when the other QBs are such garbage at Ark. This is the greatest thing on the internet of College Football today. I disturbed my coworkers because I laughed so hard.

  11. But the travel was like, really obvious. It wasn’t a borderline foul call. It’s the equivalent of tackling someone on a personal foul.

  12. Regardless of whether or not he is NFL-ready, how can you possibly bad-mouth a kid who has already gotten his degree? Say what you about his drops, etc., but he was a guy that defenses had to account for.

  15. If the kid has graduated, he deserves to go wherever he wants. If he isn't allowed to, that's seriously messed up.

  17. Precisely. As long as he's ok with winning the Big XII and then getting knocked out by the big boys in the playoff (down vote all you want, but they aint the SEC and they damn sure aint on Clemson's level) this is a good decision.

  19. Not disagreeing but two issues. First, Grad Trans previous school has no say. Secondly, WVU is in the same conference - a lot of schools would do the same

  20. I would think this has to have some negative impact on OU's QB recruiting. It seems HS recruits working their tails off have no chance to start before their careers are over.

  23. What in the world? Why are these dudes drooling all over UAB? They're losing a ton of 5/6/7-yr seniors including Erdley. Brown's coming back, but that's about it. Are these dudes paying attention?

  24. He won’t have a monster year as long as Rico Bussey is our top dog. Rico is just plain better by production which is what matters at the collegiate level. By measurables, Jalen May have the edge and that is what the NFL is more concerned about which is why folks like Darius Hayward Bey get drafted ahead of Michael Crabtree.

  29. I understand comments about not calling a certain way is the final seconds of a game. But what that tells me is that these call should not be made at any time during the game. I really hate the inconsistency in the way sports are refereed

  30. My H.S. coach in KY (30 yrs experience & coached a couple future NBA players) always told us the you can't stop a man from scoring if he is allowed to travel with the ball by the refs. Seemed so obvious but it is very fundamental to the game of basketball and the UTSA player was allowed to get away with this cardinal violation. You expect traveling/walking calls to be missed in high school level BB or overlooked for special needs kids playing basketball in PE class; but no place for travelling/walking by the ball carrier in the Div. 1 college bb ranks.

  31. UNT should never ever lose to UTSA in any sport. Should be a sign to this effect over the locker room exit door for all men's and women's sports.

  32. Damn man. Our athletic program are a bunch of teases. This thing can get going again real quick, silver lining. So it's not as gut wrenching to lose here and there in bball. Get to 20-2 and how is that not back to getting serious top 25 votes. High school facilities and high school officiating may have taken them off their game.

  36. He came to North Texas and was an awesome player. Got his degree and now he’s moving on. It wasn’t too long ago we praised our depth at the WR position. 🤨 good luck Jaylen!...I look forward to hearing you say North Texas on your Monday Night Football intro.

  37. I don’t get some of you and your sour grapes on Jalen. Just a few years ago we had a player (I think Feeney but don’t remember) forgo his senior season so he could move on with his life as a college graduate. Everybody was telling the kid thanks for his contributions and happy for him. The ONLY difference between Guyton and him is that Guyton has NFL potential. Get over yourselves and wish him luck. The better he does, the better we look. His success reflects well upon us. And should he fail in his pro football aspirations? He is still an alumnus of our beloved university and hopefully returns to Apogee to support future teams as a productive member of society.

  38. So how does this work exactly from a scholarship perspective... do we now have an open 2019 scholarship for a late signee (like maybe a Juco DT)? Appreciate all that Jaylen did in helping to revive this program! Very talented - sometimes seemed to have lack of focus - but really hope he kills it in the NFL.

  41. Did I miss something, didn't he graduate in December? The purpose of college is learn and earn a degree. He did so early while playing football - something that is NOT easy. It calls for a lot of long nights after practice studying. I'm guessing since he has no plans for a Masters, he really has no reason to take a number of graduate courses just to play football. Leaving school after you graduate isn't leaving early.

  42. I have confirmed through my sources that Rhule is gone and that SL is leaving to become an assistant investigator for the Special Prosecutor's Office in a complicated trade which involves bears (the animal), bears (humans), a keg of Brunch Money, Patrick Stewart, the New York Jets, the FBI, a pinecone, and lubricant. IT'S OFF-SEASON HOORAY! Other off-season news: - The AAC is breaking up, and in order to avoid being in a conference with any team they "don't like," SMU is joining the Hokkaido American Football Association. - UTSA is being split between the Texas, North Texas and San Antonio College systems, and is now NTUTSAC. - In order to add stability, the Sun Belt is adding St. Mary's University and Texas Wesleyan. - Dabo is actually the religious alt-universe Nick Saban. - Lee Corso is starting a convention that travels with Gameday named "Furry Silver Fanz" and full fursuits are required. More on these developments as they occur to me.

  46. I bought Red Man and Levi Garrett while playing pony league baseball. Many, if not most of my HS buddies dipped Cope or Skoal. Never carded, even at 13-14. Of course we also had our .243s in the window racks in our trucks in HS too, and nobody cared.
